As someone who never played D&D, I actually liked the simplified and somewhat easy combat in Fallout and Planescape. I was able to finish both games and enjoyed them very much. But I quit playing Baldurs gate around 2 hours in, because I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing in fights, and they just bored me.
