One reviewer on twitter saying that he did all side quests but one, game length was around 60 hours. Not sure where people were getting their 100+ hour estimates.

higher difficulty levels lead to much longer battles.
reviewers playing on different settings will probably create disparity in game hours.

I personally think that the user reception for POE will be a lot better then Wasteland 2. Obsidian have delivered a "New" Infinity engine game, which is exactly what they promised. I think a lot of people backed Wasteland expecting Fallout, and got butthurt when it wasnt.

Man, I'm watching some of Sensuki's videos about the game's mechanics and gatdam, this game looks far more mechanically complex and dense than the Infinity Engine games. Combat looks really interesting, I'm getting pretty excited for this now.

Best place for general sense of how people are receiving the game is probably steam, as only people who bought the game can review it.

Unfortunately, more mechanically complex and dense doesn't necessarily translate into better.

Anyway, from that IncGamers interview:

IG: Obviously some ideas don’t make the cut. How do you make those kinds of calls?

JS: Once we’ve narrowed the scope so we know what we’re talking about, we would start to ask questions when people had ideas for how to work things in. Like, ‘how do you feel this fits in?’ And if that didn’t pass the initial snip test, then we’d decide that’s not something which fits with what we’re doing right now.

Some of the designers early on had some ideas for this cool-sounding invasion plot, it was cool and elaborate and could go into all sorts of different directions. But it was like, ‘it seems like this is very tangential to everything else that’s going on in the setting.’ So they’re all like, ‘ahhhhh, yeah. I guess you’re right.’ We shelved that and we could revisit that in the future, because if this game’s successful we can come back and explore other stories.

Expansion material?

It's clear that Bethesda is behind the negative user reviews on Metacritic. Old habits die hard.

My guess is /pol/ tards from 4chan, because all the threads there are swarmed by people that shit on the game because they think the writing has too much liberal influence.

This is what happens when you hand out early copies to obnoxious Twitch/YouTube personalities. :M

For sure. But what's really amazing to me is how many ways important roles, like defenders and attackers and healers, can be accomplished and how many different ways classes can be used. In the Infinity Engine games, there was one way to use every class and most of the time they just stood there in combat doing whatever it was they were supposed to do. In this, there are a number of ways to use and build each class, each way with different functions and strengths. It's a well thought-out and interesting system and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Yes, that was already established as a goal even when the game was in the pre-production stage.
I, like many others, think that it's a great idea and an interesting approach to combat roles.
Most of the grogtards on this forum would disagree.
