The default sex and ethnicity of the first character that appears in the game appears to be randomized - cool.

English grammar police question.

When you are writing a list of nouns in a sentence, for example: bear, pig, stork, cow - is there a specific way that you should order them? I always thought you were supposed to do it alphabetically, but the descriptions in Pillars of Eternity are reverse alphabetical, ie, priest, druid instead of druid, priest.

Otherwise the order could be related to number of syllables. Shorter class names come before longer ones.

No particular order is necessary.

"That's to be expected given what we know about PoE. It's combat-centric, and there are a grand total of five utility skills; each class receives a bonus in two of them. All five also confer combat benefits. That's in comparison to many dozens of combat- and class-exclusive abilities and talents."

BG, NWN, and a host of other games are all highly focused on combat too but they actually have non combat spells mixed in. IMAGINE THAT!

The baby-killer quest is fairly obviously, and not unwelcomely, shady as Hell. The accusation is almost certainly a pretense, or at the very least not the whole story.

As hooks go, it's a decent one. Uncertainty and mystery are big pluses in an RPG. I haven't finished or even progressed the quest yet, so I don't know how it plays out.

I think lurker's point though is the tone. The mere mention of baby-killing sets a certain tone, and is essentially the developers' way of letting players know how far the game may push the envelope.

As for the the baby killer quest.

The orlan women is upstairs in the inn. If you confront her she just tells you that she robbed the wrong house (or something like that) and the quest giver is just a hired thug sent to sort her out. She gives up next to nothing with the dialog options I had. Beyond killing her anyway. Or letting her go so. I didn't bother returning to the quest giver to find out what would happen. So I have no idea if she is the Neb of POE and if there is any real C&C for letting her go.

Obsidian HAS to completely fucking nail and make this have very good combat. Combat has always been Obsidian's Achilles heel. I hope that is their #1 priority at this time.

The combat itself isn't bad. It could be made better but if you like IE it should be enjoyable. But, it could be so much better though.

Right now it's enjoyable but with the feeling that it can be a lot better. It'll get there. I'm hopeful.

Considering that the entire game is designed around combat balance, it indeed had damned well better have very good combat.

Better combat animations would help, and slightly more meaty impact sounds, still I am okay with how it is right now.

Yeah animations are too short, idle ones and running around are fine for me. And the game looks gorgeous. But combat moves should have more variations. I understand the old infinity engine games limitations, but this one can do better. Its a very simple thing.

What do you consider the #1 thing that needs to be worked on/Fixed with Eternity currently Sensuki?

Serious bugs.

#1: Auto attack and selection bugfixes (which are apparently already done)
#2: Fix items disappearing
#3: Fix broken quests

Then we can actually play the fucking game normally. It's getting in the way of giving a normal impression about the beta. That's why I'm not playing it, and doing other helpful shit instead.

Same here, I was not able to complete even one playthrough yesterday. Especially disappering items fucked my game probably 5 times and it was mostly wizards wand and grimoire (I suspect foul play from Cleveland Mark Blakemore!) which renders him completely useless. Also had random CTDs.
Anyone managed to dismiss party members btw? I want to try another setup with mercenaries.
