Yeah, the higher difficulty seem very cheap, would have been nice to get stronger variants of enemies or something instead of a just number bloat.

then people will complain that the game is too easy with this build *insert 4 different class build that abuse game mechanics*

also i expect magical item bloat.

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
What the fuck is the treebearant's problem?

Edit: I can bash my head against it for a while, and I will, so far it's the only thing I got stumped. Could deal with the other encounters with some thinking.

I'm thinking of rolling a 2h hammer user. Torn between the fighter kit and barbarian rager kit. Cheat-engine'd myself some XP and tried them out. Both had 17 str, 18 con and 12 or 14 dex.
At lvl 20 fighter has noticeably more damage while barb has 5 more AB when raging, 16 dt and more HP. Both have similar AC.

How useful is dt in this game? It was kinda shit in NWN.
Are there any weapon types with no or few good weapons available?

also because if you want to complete the game at unfair an optimized group is pretty much mandatory.
If you play the game on the statbloat difficulties, you are a dummy. Don't be a dummy. There is zero extra content, enemies, strategy, anything at all, other than extra AC and stats for enemies. Don't be a dummy, my dude. You're better than this.

You are 100% correct sir.

Not to brag but I JUST recorded this. Use normal difficulty. Do it.

I haven't reached the kingdom part yet, but can't you use your companions for advisory roles or whatever it's called? Then using mercenaries for fighting seems to be the smart move, that way you can have more effective fighters and the companions can still be of use.
Doesn't matter you can give them roles and still travel with them

It's fine, I'm only playing on challenging. I don't generally play on hard or uber-hardcore or nothing, just don't wanna have unfair advantage either way.

That's exactly the problem. We don't know what Owlbear did but Challenging translates into "Kobolds with Dragon AC". I've been trying do to it as well and it's just not fun and doesn't get any easier either with more levels.

This boss is not that difficulty dependant. Sure he can tear you apart but main thing is that he has /10 resist so you can just use any non physical damage. Basic magic missile spam kills it quickly + any spells that do not allow complete save like sonic blast etc. Packs of bandits & Stag Lord fight are a lot harder.

Why would you use the no-character bland mercenaries, instead of the companions who have backgrounds, quests and are at least somewhat woven into the story?

Their builds are trash. This is Pathfinder where min/maxing is king.

Amiri - Low-dex, low AC barb, thinking HP will be enough to survive fights, classic rookie mistake. Toughness is a bad feat, she should have power attack/cleave or at least dodge/armor focus. She needs more AC.

Valerie - Paladin stats but she's a fighter. Paladins are already gimped by 25 point buy, they have too many necessary stats and not enough points. But shes a fighter with 14 str and 15 cha because 'muh roleplaying.' , fuck off with this.

Harrim - Offensive cleric, bad for a newb (although good in the long run), lacks Cha score for some important feats

Linzi - She's a bard, 'nuff said. This class had never been good and will never be good, no matter what anyone says

Should've made a video when I tried that guy the first time. Turns around, hits Valerie, splat 30 dmg, hits Amiri, splat 47 crit, proceeds to eat the rest of the party. And I'm fairly certain that thing has like 100 HP or something on Challenging too. Fucker wouldn't go down.

I'm having fun so far, and I'm no tactical genius.
Brb, I think I'll change things up a bit.

Yeah, I levelled up Amiri as fighter first chance I got. There's room for only one barbarian in my team.

It's a feminist plot I tell you! Making you dependent on the strong female warrior since she is the only damn damage dealer in the land ;)

i know the game does let you know if something is immune, but now i am not so sure if it was the case with the swarm. i encountered a bunch of wererats that are immune to magic missile.

which btw, is that a thing? wererats that are immune to magic missile? i mean, i could hurt a werewolf with it.
If a wererat is immune to magic missile, I'm going to chalk that up to a bug. No way is that intended. Wererats in Pathfinder doesn't even have spell resistance or anything like that, and the defining aspect of Magic Missile is that it always hits.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Anyone know what the latest 1.3GB download on steam was?

I'm having fun so far. Yeah, difficulty spikes (especially on Challenging) and they don't do a great job of telling you some stuff, but it's a lot more entertaining and D&Dish (I know, sacrilege considering it's Pathfinder, not D&D) than PoE. Per the boards, hotfix patch 1.03 will address some concerns over difficulty, although I'm worried it will be the usual overreaction to make everything cake for players who need their hands held at every step.

Hoping they will lower merc price too.

I feel that those crazy AC numbers are meant to encourage you (or rather they accidentally do so due to the whole thing being out of owlcats' control) to use something other than the evocation school of magic. I've been using barkskin + bull's strength + coral spray + glitterdust, and it makes almost every battle fairly easy. My leopard and druid tackle enemies every other turn, essentially making them defenseless; I'm sure most of the classes have similar ways to overcome the overwhelming odds.

Although I must say that I haven't had a lot of luck with some single-target enchantments like hold person; they're just too unreliable here for some reason (WILL: SAVE!), while the mentioned coral spray and glitterdust are mass disablers, essentially removing even hard enemies like the alpha wolf, greater werewolf, and the tree bear from the fight...

Still, I enjoy this kinda messy balance infinitely more than stuff like poe, which is just meh due to every situation resolving itself without your input...

The only thing that has discouraged me immensely was the fact that so much quest triggers are broken. In a few quests I even had to resort to LAWFUL NEUTRAL (!) solutions due to the evil ones not working.

Never mind then. I'll only hire a mercenary if I need to cover my weaknesses then. I haven't had any major trouble so far though, the companions are decent enough.

Okay, that bear gave me 4th level. I'm a bit stumped, where would a melee combat cleric type go from here...? More Str? Pump Wis? Leaning towards Str right now.
Do you have 20 Wis yet? No? Then wis. Otherwise, Str or Con if you want to pummel things.

Wait, the fucking tree is resistant to slashing, the act of chopping it the fuck to pieces?

Piercing or Blunt I could see, but fucking Slashing?
