Enough about Atom btw, it's Kingmaker's topic. Actually I arrived in thread for asking people about new class, did they tried to play as kineticist, what they can say about new companion and was worth it to buy a DLC for this. But, unfortunately, instead, I got distracted on useless discussion about Atom with person who have no arguments at all.

P.S. Sorry for asking about DLC, but I fucking lost in thread even with only 78 pages, since people arguing about anything, but actually a game.

Kineticist is a little slow to start, but really interesting. They are not as powerful as an optimized Nok-Nok, but they are very strong without much effort. They bring valuable tactics to the table like sniping, wall/cloud/earth trapping and generally being jerks to their enemies.

I like the new companion. She seems to trust you with important secrets WAY too quick, but after that somewhat jarring experience she is probably the best written character in the game.

She never outright says it, but Kanerah makes it very obvious that she is fucking you so you keep her around and protect her from the soul eater. Which is pretty dysfunctional, but her backstory makes it clear that all her flirtations are designed to manipulate you. After a while she gets a genuine case of the feels, but it is all a snow job in the beginning.

Then you are on the wrong forum. More often than not, my tastes align with what 'Dex agrees with.
Or maybe I am on right forum and you act right now like an idiot who use game (which you didn't even played) as argument in discussion while claiming that this game is good "cuz many people post in topic"?
I mean, in Deadfire many people discussed game to and there was shitload fanbois too, but "somehow" you don't consider this game as good (while it's perfectly fits in your logic as example).
Deadfire topic was DOA compared to how this one looked after release. Don't bring up Deadfire as argument for anything, you will look just as retarded as that other guy that shitposts here.
And I don't need to play a game to see that 'Dex loves it.
When the real GotY poll comes around you will see that Kingmaker and Atom will be on the top with KCD below them and Deadfire somewhere near the bottom.

Also things I like and dislike about the game

+ Spell and item effects, spells with long duration negative effects, magic can be devastating (I think this makes real time combat more enjoyable for me)
It's missing a good mage battle system like BG2 had. Peeling off enemy spell protections etc.

That moment when you came upon an enemy unit and there was a spellcaster in BG2 and you had to quickly work out how to take them out before they nuked your party was always thrilling. Along with the first time you had that "why won't my weapons work" moment.

There's a bit of that here with stoneskin, mindblank and the protection from spells spell, but that's not until higher levels. I really miss things like minor globe of invulnerability, globe of invulnerability, protection from arrows, mirror image, spell immunity, mantle etc.

Battles with Defaced Sisters were very BG2 like. They didn't have 3 layers of spell protections but their magical attacks could fuck you up fast if you ignored them.

Yeah, the wererat cave was a very bg2 like moment as well. As it is though, the game is a lot more like Mask Of The Betrayer than BG2. That's still quite a complement though.

Oh, and timestop. It needs timestop - the ultimate in OP magery.

Did you start a new game or continue one? I think she meets you earlier in the game at the mansion if you start a new game, so maybe she has more time to believably have some sort of trust for you in that route.

Also, consider that your are dealing with, shall we say, her less shrewd and more trusting side when you have that conversation. The side that basically got her sister killed before she met you.

I agree though, she may be my favorite character.

The best part of the asshurt PoE fanboys rattling off the bad things about this game is that despite all the flaws it's still a better game than dumpsterfire.

It is POTENTIALLY a better game. It suffers from a lot of terribad design choices, such as needing to do this:

you use rulebook.

And there's no way to speed up time, so I have to stare at my party walking through the rain.

It's also still a buggy mess. I had two companions walking beside each other in a straight line during a battle, trying to get away from each other probably. The bug went away when on of my companions died. I haven't seen so many loading screens in any other crpg. Or maybe I get that impression because they're so long. The difficulty is again, all over the place. You see similar bandit groups, but one has insane stats, the other doesn't. Just quick save and reload 20 times before you get that magical roll, it feels like you're cheating at slot machines. So much shit is wrong it brings a tear to my eye.

Started a fresh new game, so I got to meet them both during the tutorial. Fun side fact - she cannot die during the tutorial so she can win the Harrim fight and the Jamandi fight without you doing anything. Useful if you are cheesing through Unfair.

At least I bring as arguments games that I actually play, not just random titles which discussed on codex. And don't be a fool and compare me to Safav Hamon, because I actually criticized Deadfire and not posted ove9000 threads.

Seeing that somebody loves game and bringing this game as argument is a different things.

People who cares about rating on Codex "GotY polls" are most insecure people in the world, personally I use such polls to search for games that I overlooked for some reason or just troll people from insecure fan bases. Everybody had her/his own GotY in this year, no need to screech about "your gaem is on bottom, my gaem on top".

Thanks for information, I was afraid that she will be weak, but at least in DLC they made somewhat normal companion. I still feel sad that no gunslinger class in game, tho. :negative:

#1, 2 Posting on Codex that Codex likes a certain game and it is a reason why people post in that game's topic instead of the previous game they loved is a valid argument. You don't need to play any of those games to make it if it is true.
#3 It is expected that people whose game is on bottom of GotY list will say that said GotY is not important. There is a name for such people. It is Sore Loser.

You cast breach on them and then your fighter killed them in one hit.

This topic died off because:
#2 Atom has been released and by all accounts it is a good game so people moved there.
>Atom
>good game

Are you fucking kidding me? Atom is a shitty clone of Fallout 1, that didn't lived up to original, what the fuck you talking about?
I have not played it yet but I have been reading the topic and almost everyone is praising it. You are first person on 'Dex that I have seen say anything negative about it.
I had initial impression of "shitty clone" from screenshots/description too, but, to my surprise, game is actually really good.
If it has to be called "clone" then it is godtier clone.

Who's Kanerah? The new companion?

She's the fire kineticist sister. Kalikke is the water kineticist sister. They are suffering under what amounts to a curse/blessing which brought the fire sister back to life at the cost of them not being able to be in the same plane of existence at the same time. "Kaessi" is the fake identity they came up with to disguise the fact they are two people. Part of the curse/blessing is not telling anyone about it. Although you, the main character, find out about it fairly quickly.

Just completed this after many, many, hours and there are still many bugs that need squashing, particularly when you get to chapter 5 and beyond.

Chapters 6 and 7 are very frustrating to play, and I recommend dropping the difficulty down before you rage quit.

I'm sorry, could you repeat that for Crispy? He'll need this information. :salute:

I should probably make an emergency mod stash.

I will get the stuff recommended by Lilura on her blog.

And maybe... maybe all the horrible fanfic mods...
