So I signed this a while ago after concluding the turn-based combat Larian showcased at PAX East was too slow for my tastes. The online polls with the largest samples I'm aware of indicate prospective customers are split on the issue of combat so I don't see why the game shouldn't go down the PoE2 route. Also I don't think it's fair to compare RTwP from 20 years ago with modern systems and write it off as a mess the way one of their senior designers put it. The current TB combat changes the pacing to such an extent that BG3 should be renamed Baldur's Gate Tactics if the devs stick with their design decisions. While boss fights and the like are easier in TB I don't like this padding in that the game is billed as a 100-hour RPG even though you're likely to spend a minimum of 50 hours waiting turns with goblins and other trash mobs. Anyway, if there were a way to have both modes I think it would get more people on board. Wouldn't even mind a lack of balance to combat (can't really think of a RPG that has perfectly balanced combat etc.) as not even games that have a single combat mode can get it right.
