JESUS elite STFs are dead 'ard. Probably should try to get myself full antiproton cannons and turrets before attempting 'em again. Unfortunately will require a bunch of cash or borg salvage to scrape together 3 dual cannons, 3 turrets, and 3 tactical antiproton damage boosting consoles to replace all my phaser shit.

Gotta gets me one of them field generator science consoles too.

Bros, post your names in charname@username format (using exact capitalized letters and all that, the game is very specific about what exact letters and symbols are used), or just send friend invites to Valkar@vaarna_aarne and I'll set you up for our chat channel (if no one else has yet).

Codex federation fleet is named Codex Civilization Defense Squadron, but it's hidden from fleet search, so you gotta get in touch with the bros.

Also, Antiproton cannons and turrets are NOT superior to other energy weapons. There's pretty much only one weapon type that's distinctly superior to all others, and that's Phasers (due to a chance to disable a subsystem), others are more or less equal with Disruptors and Tetryon having a bit of an edge due to more useful special effects (damage resistance debuff and extra shield damage respectively). But I argue it's better to have a mix of energy types since there are individual resistances to different energy types. Personally, I use a 3x Phaser Beam, 3x Tetryon Turret (Tetryon can chew through shields better than anything with Rapid Fire) combination.

EDIT: Also, remember that only a tiny handful of consoles STACK (ie, armour plating consoles). For example, none of the shield consoles from Science stack, which is why you gotta get different ones that influence shields (there's three of them). Damage bonus consoles don't stack either, I think, and the universal energy damage boost duo is better due to allowing you flexibility at only a slight cost in output.

But it must be pointed out that apparently RCS consoles (turn rate) DO stack!

they do have better criticals and a better chance for criticals as well... having some antiproton weapons in your loadout for the bang makes sense, having only antiproton weapons doesn't seem wise, though, as other weapon types can add other special damage types to the mix (like tetryon weapons damaging shields etc.)

I'm under the impression that tactical damage boosting consoles do stack. Though damned if I know for sure since the game doesn't adjust my numbers easily for me to check. Also I was mainly going for antiproton then because I thought it had the borg damage proc. Then I realized all the STF salvage gear has that borg damage proc, so tomorrow I'll probably replace my phaser cannons and turrets with borg smashing versions for more dakka. Will require less salvage, and I won't have to replace my consoles.

Tried a ground STF too. Was sorta cool to dick with but like all of STO space is way more fun. At least I had a good laugh when a guy in my team yelled at me for teleporting to some control room and pressing all the buttons in some borg base. WHAT ELSE AM I GOING TO DO WHEN I TELEPORT TO A STRANGE ROOM? PRESS ALL THE BUTTONS OF COURSE. Did fearlessly throw myself into a meat grinder for an achievement and borg science bridge officer, too!

You're running with 6 energy weapons? Isn't the energy drain a bit much?
I'm also running 6 energy weapons and it ain't no thang for an escort with power set to weapons. Absolute lowest it hits is 80ish, and usually after the initial salvo they go out of sync a bit and the energy drain doesn't often dip below 100. I've got a beefy EPS console though so maybe that makes power recharge faster, not sure.

I typically run with power to weapons 90% of the time, 2 beams + turret + torp fore and 2 beams + 2 torp aft. Any feedback on Polarized Tetryon Beam Array? I've checked out the stats and DPS is nothing to write home about but it does have 4 times the chance of damage to shields to that of a standard array. Seems like a contender for a high level loadout even without the extra perks of purple quality beams. It's a quest reward for The New Link.

EPS Flow Regulator is must-have, I use three heavy dual cannons and two turrets, and the weapon power levels stays over 100.

I also use Beam Fire At Will I and Cannon Rapid Fire I very profusely, peppering with an occasional Beam Overload I (drops weapon power to 0) as well, but my weapon power rarely drops under 100 (I'm running maxed out weapon power, even with 50% allocation my Shield power is at 83). All you need is 6 points in the EPS skill and an EPS regulator console, and you're good.

Also, Antiproton's do NOT improve your Critical Chance, only your Critical Severity. Nothing to write home about compared to Phasers, Disruptors and Tetryon. Also doesn't look anywhere near as cool.

Also, looked around, weapon consoles apparently do stack, but there seems to be plenty of confusion about it. Personally, I'd say the safest bet is to take the two different all energy damage affecting consoles in case future patches hit hard. However: Shield consoles of the same type do NOT stack, period. Armour consoles have severe diminishing returns.

PS: Personally, I like it when Codexers use their nicks in MMOs as well. I still haven't connected all of the people here who did not to who they are on the Codex. It causes me great distress.

All consoles stack.

Tactical consoles stack linearly. Meaning that if it says +26% Phaser Damage, each console will add 26% of the base damage. 100%+(4x26%). It's best to get the +Phaser, +Disruptor etc. consoles, instead of the +All Energy Weapons. They made the +Energy Type more effective on purpose, so that people wouldn't go around with every possible energy type on their ships.
Science consoles with +XX also stack linearly. Consoles with +XX% stack, but have diminishing results. First console gives 100% effectiveness, 2nd ~50%, 3rd ~25% and so on.
Engineering consoles all stack with diminishing results. Including +damage resist, in order to not have practically immortal ships. There were problems where cruisers could go 1 on 5 with escorts and come out on top.

I'm fucking ridiculous in normal STFs now. I can tank tactical cubes with relative ease and do nutty DPS to whole groups of enemies with almost constant cone firing all anti-borg cannons/turrets and quantum torpedoes. Perhaps now it's time to do elite space STFs more. Perhaps. Or maybe I can say I've won the game and call that good enough. MAYBE THIS IS IT. MAYBE I'M SATISFIED.

Anybody know the best items in the game? I am building an Aegis set but are the best items craftable? Should I build the best craftable torpedoes and beam weapons, or are the STF things best?

Varies from item slot to item slot and depends how you wanna make your character, but from what I've seen STF stuff is generally the best. Aegis certainly isn't bad though. I think the MACO set is usually regarded as the best overall, but running just the engine, console, and deflector of the borg set is pretty great since that gives you a shield and hull heal proc, then you can use whatever for your shield. It's not exactly mandatory though, since my STO buddybro is using a full aegis set and tanking quite fine.

And thank you Tripjack, I am a pretty princess. :pete:

From what I've read, the Aegis is regarded as superior to the Borg set due to the resistance bonuses. There's two ways to get the Aegis: Craft, provide a bro with the mats or buy from the Exchange (~1.5mil per piece).

PS: I feel sorry for your ship Cow. Somewhere, the Star Trek equivalent of 1eyedking is crying.

It also seems that Odyssey isn't very suitable for tacs/DPS, at least not the version gotten from the 2nd anniversary quest, which is unfortunate.
