Nintendo Switch, the only console today making games which are games

How much does the battery last on a used Switch? I'm thinking about getting one to play some jRPG crap that's not on PC and I'm too lazy to emulate or my 10 years old laptop simply can't run. Does the screen feel big enough to be comfortable? I won't be using a TV screen because I don't have one. Also, can you pirate games on this thing? I'm not used to paying for games.
I got a used 2017 model and playing 2d games I'm easily getting 4+ hours on a single charge. I'm yet to actually run out of battery during a play session. But if you're planning to play unoptimized 3d slop your mileage will vary.

I think leaving airplane mode on extends battery further as well.

Pretty sure the hardware is years old by this point, procured probably before Covid kicked off. I think it'll be PS4ish with a lot of advancements made in software to make up ground between. Nintendo values battery life a lot (as they should), so I doubt they'll give it the kind of juice that would only give a few hours playtime. When I look at how the extremely underpowered Switch handles games like Alien Isolation or Luigi's Mansion 3, I don't see much need for some mega-powerful system maxed out on specs; you just need enough gas to fuel it into the next gen and then have competent game devs do the rest.

That and cutting edge graphics chasing has long since reached diminishing returns. Even if it hadn't, good luck telling much difference on a portable screen.

We are four years into the PS5 and Xbox Series X at the moment. Those systems are on the back end of their lifecycle now, and the Switch 2 will spend the majority of its lifecycle competing with whatever Sony and Microsoft have next... probably a VR focused system from Sony and some Surface like system to more directly challenge The Switch from Microsoft.

The same graphics as the PS5 and Xbox Series X wouldn’t be crazy for a new system at this point. The Switch is an early 9th Gen system, the Switch 2 is the first of the 10th generation.

Best hardware on AMD architecure that most handhelds are based right now is still limited by physics, size and thermals. Switch 2 probably will be something on par of the Windows based handhelds a Z1/Z1 Extreme so a 2023, early 2024 tech. While mid 2025 will see a lot of new Steam OS based AMD handhelds.

Still Nintendo will probably sell like fresh cookies, while Steam OS will breath on its neck.

Switch 2 will sell orders of magnitude more than all steam os and Windows portable gaming consoles put together. The original switch sold more than 144 million units, the switch 2 will likely not sell as many but is guaranteed to sell at least 100 million.

Can't wait to see all the neckbeards unhinging their jaws as they take selfies with the switch 2s that their wives' bull gave them.

It's alright I guess. I would have preferred if they kept the 7 inch screen. The only benefit I can see from this is the larger joycons that will be more comfortable out-of-the-box for adult hands. But we already had some decent 3rd party solutions for that and I bet they will still be preferred over Switch 2 joycons.

This part is going to break like crazy.

Imagine drunk SDG trying to hook up his joycons, the console won't last two days. Clever design by Nintendo, retards will have to buy a new one every year.

Mate, for what we'll be paying for this thing I expect it's made from the finest Aerospace materials. The pin will be made of marine grade 316 high tension stainless steel.

Switch Do

ahahahahahahahah Nintendo never learns. I can already see their design meeting where everyone was screaming at director to put at least 2 instead of Do. Director said but i like "Do". Ok let's get this 50/50% sometimes we will use Do sometimes we will use 2.

Overpriced and underpowered toy with having the same games released over and over again. Nintendo almost makes Activision look ethical.
Probably less iterations of the swtich than playstation 5s.

Don't like Mario Kart anymore. Tracks all too short, lame physics and still no way to checkmark all the items that you want on the maps. DLC also had far too many real world cities. I don't want my world in Mario.

Nothing groundbreaking, which is ok, but kinda lame.

Curious about what that optical sensor does.
