Bloober Team's next release after Silent Hill 2 remake is a sci-fi horror game called Cronos: The New Dawn, the studio revealed during Thursday's Xbox Partner Showcase.

In development for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, Cronos is touted as Bloober's first original franchise in the survival horror genre. According to the official release, "it is a "twisted time travel story set in an unforgiving post-apocalyptic future in 1980s Poland."

The trailer offers glimpses of monstrous zombie-like creatures, a lady playing chess, and a person in an environmental suit. It also offered a glimpse of the gameplay, revealing it to be a third-person game with distinctly Dead Space-like vibes.

I clocked the remake in about a week or so (I only played the original SH before). I'd probably give the game a 6/10 (it should be a 7.5-8 but it runs like shit and crashes a lot and zero patches released from bloober).

I didn't have any of the problems this guy had with the game and i'm going to go with a skill issue for half of them.

- Maria's voice acting was fine in my opinion, I prefer the newer VA as its an older woman (mid 30's) in my mind and suits the character better.
- Maria's dialog when you're playing the game is effectively like a monologue, she's supposed to be trailing behind you while your traversing the game. Walking her into doors, or in circles whatever this retard is doing looks odd (no shit!).
- He doesn't like the new games pacing because he was a retard and spent 2 days trying to figure out the hospital puzzles, then complains he now has to do the prison. The prison is shorter btw like the original I guess, I would guestimate it took me 3-4 hours to do the hospital so i would say skill issue here. The Hospital is definitely the largest "level" in the game though, i think my total play-through was like 14-16 hours?
- Complains about combat, I beat the game on hard/hard.. and did not have any issues with it, you should be avoiding multiple combatants and if pressed (very rarely) you should be using guns for it. The game features a dodge mechanic, and i killed 75% of everything in the game with lead pipe so i don't know what his problem is.

If i had any complaints outside technical, I would say they were a bit heavy on combat in the game, they could have dialed back the monsters like 15% would have been perfect.

Its a decent enough game and a shame I can't score it fairly because of performance and crashes. If it didn't have the technical issues it's probably about on par with the newer resident evil games and remakes.

An opinion piece from THE GAYMER that TEHDAGAH would undoubtedly agree with

Silent Hill 2’s Angela Orosco Isn’t Supposed To Be Hot
In the new game, Angela looks younger, less thin, and, rather than haunted and confused, a bit more nervous and on-edge. Even if that design is not my preference (I felt the original Angela conveyed a shame that was devouring her from the inside), it absolutely still works in the game, and - as I’ve said elsewhere - this feels more like seeing a different actor take on a role in a play than it does having the character reduced or ruined.

You may like the change! You may not! But here’s the important part. Are you listening? Get a little closer. Angela Orosco is not supposed to be hot, you absolute weirdos! I hate to spoil a 21-year-old game, but for the love of God, she’s a victim of sexual assault! Her entire story pivots on the fact that she feels guilt and shame both for the abuse and for killing the family members who hurt her.

The end of her story does not involve her doing an air kiss and making a peace sign at the camera, you silly screwballs! She’s not in the game - either the original or the remake - to be your ideal kawaii waifu. I’m not saying that as a ‘woke’ thing. I’m saying you should have your internet history searched if you’re actually mad this character is not attractive.

Watching it now, not subbed to his channel, but agree with the title and am confident that I can already post it because of the deserved bashing he gave God of War 2018.

That title makes him sound like a teenage girl. Why is the word “cringe” being used as a catch-all term to describe so many things these days? Putting out a 6-minute video before the game's even launched suggests TheGamingBrit didn't think this one through.

He's now unnecessarily opened himself up to a lot of negative feedback and doubts about his credibility. As people in the comments have pointed out, he recently made a Square-Enix-sponsored video to promote FF7 Rebirth, which of course is part of the FF7 Remake project, and he's spoken positively about the RE4 Remake in a video he made for that game.

But this SH2 remake has now made him think remakes in general are “cringe”? It doesn't make sense.

Problem here is that Maria is supposed to represent a YOUNGER and prettier version of James's wife. Making her older and less attractive defeats the purpose of the character.

Also, your attempts at dismissing many arguments he made by just claiming "skill issue" is just silly. The game doesn't get much less tedious and repetetive by you being somewhat more skillful at combat. And neither do camera issues magically go away.

I just can not believe that people think that the new voice acting is better than the Original. It's fucking abysmal, that's what it is.

It's really glaring watching some of the reviews that do side by side comparisons. Especially how bad Maria/Mary and Angela are.

There's a very easy counter to the Angela stuff. Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3.

Both characters have sexual abuse and trauma in their background. Yet there wasn't any criticism from journalists over Astarion being thirsted over. Then again, it was mostly women doing that. Angela, if she were eye candy, would appeal to men which is the real issue for nutty journalists.

He doesn't like the new games pacing because he was a retard
Orrrrr maybe padding it out with more combat than RE2 actually fucks with the pacing?

I didn't have a problem with the games length but combat was heavy handed (I think if playing with combat on normal it would probably be less an issue). Still that utarder -> 2 fucking days in the hospital and sO coNFuSiNg when you have a big fucking map and red markers automatically tracking every location you have been and points of interest to go to. -> then whining he has to play the game more at the prison which is an intentionally shorter area to boot.

If the game was 4-5 hours everyone would be bitching and whining it'S tOo sHOrt. Checked my playtime was 17 hours restarting once (-1 hour), a bit of backtracking, at least 6 unsaved CTD's (-1 hour) and exploring/smashing windows and shit -> so 15-18 hours, totally fine for a game like this.

Bloober Team Says It's Done Making "Shitty" Games And Silent Hill 2 Remake Wasn't A Fluke
Bloober Team has read the nasty tweets and it's seen the videos in which skeptics brace for disappointment; it hasn't ignored the pessimism. The Polish, horror-obsessed studio even admits it's made "shitty" games in the past. Now, it's out to prove Silent Hill 2 Remake wasn't a one-hit wonder built from a trustworthy, pre-existing blueprint. Speaking with Bloober Team less than 24 hours after its newest horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn, was revealed during the latest Xbox Partner Preview, and just two weeks after the Silent Hill 2 Remake parade of praise kicked off, I learned the studio's next project is intended to reinforce a newly emerging narrative: the Bloober Team redemption arc.

"We don't want to make a similar game [to Silent Hill 2]," director/designer Wojciech Piejko told me during an interview focused on the team's first post-Silent Hill project, which began to take shape a few months after The Medium was released in 2021. Though Cronos: The New Dawn and Silent Hill 2 Remake were being developed on overlapping timelines, they come from largely different teams within the studio and are meant to feel like "different pizzas with different toppings--both delicious," he said with a laugh. Silent Hill 2 Remake was better than most seemed to expect, but Cronos: The New Dawn seeks to prove they can build something special from scratch, too.

The game centers on The Traveler, a mysterious person who moves through timelines. On one end is a future ravaged by a pandemic and inhabited by monstrous mutants. On the other end is communist Poland circa the 1980s. The Traveler is tasked with moving backward through time to rescue VIPs who didn't survive, disrupting the timeline to bring them into the future where they may be able to help. If it sounds like things will get wonky in that classic time-travel way, I'd bet you're right. The duo told me the game is inspired by Netflix's Dark, a magnificent series that often felt like an oddly welcome headache for those trying to make sense of its elaborate plot.

I remember that the og Silent hill 2 received a poor Gamespot review too (They deleted it) back in the day. The general impression back then is that the game was disapointing compared to the first one. But with time (And thanks to Youtube and internet ensayists, for better or worse) the game started to get a better reputation. I would say that a lot of criticism that the game got in the day was right: The combat sucked and some animations were terrible. For comparison in the genre: Resident evil 3 was already in the market, which was really solid in terms of gameplay. REmake was released one year after in 2002, and later Eternal darkness was also released, with a cool and unique combat system.

BTW about the SH2 remake duration: The game's is shorter than it feels on a first playthrough. I've playing it on hard and just finished the apartments in less than 1:30 hours. There's big glitchless speedruns clocking around 2 hours, but I think the average person like me can finish it in around 4-5 hours. Maybe earlier in easier difficulties.
