Not bad. I like the munsters going 'poof' as they die
:)
A Wizardry 7 homage to be honest.
The gfx effect will most likey change into something more "spell poof like" if you know what I mean :)

Looks super cool, I love everything about this, the combat UI seems specially pleasant to use.

Yes, you get a few attribute points assigned automatically (random) but the selection is "weighted" towards the skills for the chosen profession (so fighter is more likely to increase STR while Mage is more likely to increase INT, etc...)

Can you change the speed of combat animations?
It is a must. In this 10 minute video I already wanted to skip those. It would be best to have some 2x,3x,5x,10x, etc options.

You will be able to skip the text delay in the final version.
I was also toying with idea of "fast auto combat".

Can you change the font size? I'm an old man now and that font is too small for me, sadly.

I agree with that request, if possible.

Hm, any particular text/text area you guys are referring to?
The search/combat window?

I can see what can be done, though it's a bit more diffucult as the fonts are bitmap (not true type) and are basically part of design, so can't promise anything, but I'll see what I can do.

Yep, preferably I think it's good to have both auto combat and advance through combat resolution as fast as you press a button.

Yes, to make it clear - I meant both options, not auto-combat replacing the "skip text delay" function ;)

Just posted another small video showing the "game over" screen (and a bit of fight before it where our party got absolutely slaughtered by Razorleaves and Shkra Warriors).
Also, the "press ESC to speed up combat text" feature was implemented already (though not shown in this video).

Also, there is slight error in text with Shkra attack - we are aware of it and, of course, it will be fixed.

SirBlabsAlot do you plan to animate grid transitions? So as we walk, turn etc there is some movement shown and it isn’t just a sharp camera reposition?

I know I’m showing my casual-ness, but I think it would be a nice touch. LoL1 had this iirc.

I did consider it, but the answer is "probably not".

I just never liked those 2.5d "smoothed" movements and, as Lady Error wrote above this post, I always turned it off when available.
Plus, Mystic Land is inspired by early 90s RPGs like Wizardry 7, EOB... and those didn't have 2.5D smooth movement.

My take on this is - if the game wants to have this kind of movement, the game needs to do it in 3d (like Legend of Grimrock).
It's doable, but (for now) out of the question for me, as I would go bankrupt if I hired a 3d artist/modeller as well. ;)
I'm gonna be close to bankruptcy even with hiring 2d artists/musicians only, as I'm well into 5 figure numbers already, and as I mentioned, I'm funding this myself, out of my own pocket ;)
