Thanks.
Video was taken from very early alpha build though. Even at this time, the game progressed a lot more. Will upload a similar video again soon.

There are "rows". 3 of them to be exact (exactly like the character portratits are shown).
Each weapon also has a parameter of "short range", "long range" and "unlimited range".

Not sure if this has been answered already, but will there be music in dungeons and battles? There wasn't any in the clips I saw, but that could be because you didn't add it yet. Aside from that, will there be any modding support? I assume that replacing portraits should be easy enough. Not that I dislike the art style you have; it's a nice mix of cartoon and pixel art styles.
Haven't read the whole thread yet as you can tell, but this looks promising. I hope you get better. It would be awfully inconsiderate of you to die and not finish the game, no?

Yes there will be music (some is already added now), although I'm not sure if I will put music into battle (I kind of think it would be a distraction) - nothing decided yet about this, but I would appreciate suggestions.
Modding - no.
Custom portraits - it's planned for the full release (not the upcoming demo)

Otherwise, I don't plan to "kick the bucket" just yet. For the moment, the illness is not considered "terminal". So I hope I'll finish not only Mystic Land, but a couple of other games as well ;)

Wizardry 8 has some nice exploration/town music, but it doesn't have anywhere near enough different battle tunes, so it ends up getting really old after a while. Different style of RPG, but I always thought it was cool how Fallout doesn't change the music when you get into combat.

SirBlabsAlot You alive, old champ?
Yeah, I'm still kicking about - and plan to do so for awhile.
Not having the best of months (health wise) though, but am still working a lot on Mystic Land. And I really like the way the game is shaping out.

Will post some new material in just a day or two.

Good luck, Sir! Does anyone from your old team works on the game? I feel that the game is 100% dependent on your work. You should team up with Cleveland Mark Blakemore and make year 2029 great !
Thanks
Sadly, I'm the solo programmer on the project.
I work with my better half (graphics, icons) and my best friend (we go way back - more than 30 years - when we tried to make the game for the first time) - but he's helping with design and is not a programmer.
I also work with a couple of freelance artists for the graphics (there are a lot of assets in the game). But that's about it.

As I mentioned - we are a very small team, but are 100% independent, so we can work on the game the way we want it.

Dangerous creatures lurk in the old sewers of Newristal.
But if you want to solve the mystery of Maphaldo's disappearance, you have no choice but to venture inside and explore.
Giant spiders, Crawling Mucks, and other vile creatures lie in wait, eager to make a meal of your party.

I’ve never understood the fear or dislike of spiders. They are but our friends and allies against the impending doom of six-legged, buzzing, flying abominations that invade each summer to plague our lives!

However, I’ve heard from the highest authority—Opilio parietinus, known as “The Cutter” here and residing in my bathroom—that them fellers in your screenshot have broken the ancient, sacred pacts. They’ve started craving blood and treasure, forfeiting any claim to fair treatment.

TL;DR: Hand me my Bipennis already!

Roughly how many enemy types do you expect that the game will have?
Quite a few areas are not finalized yet (especially the later ones), but a 35-40 different monster types (with different gfx representation) with at least 4 sub-types (same graphics different monster that needs to be identified via the skill), would be a good guess. There are also bosses and mini bosses (some with their own graphics, some using the generic monster graphics).
But as I said - Just a guess for now.
