Multiplayer was a fun mini game, but the meat of the game for most players was mods and singleplayer.

Oh I didn't remember it was a multiplayer game. How the fuck does it work as a multiplayer? Since you can't really command your troops and group them and you can only move one guy in the battle, isn't the outcome of the battle decided by the troops you have got through the management and rpg part of the game? Or have I missed something here?

it was group combat mostly, where your individual skill at blocking and abusing some mechanics meant most.

You're wrong nobody sees Warband as a full sequel to M&B or a potential fully-fledged CRPG except you and a few other losers in this thread.

Christ, you're a fucking idiot. Just stop with your strawman arguments. Whether Warband is a 'full sequel' is irrelevant. M&B 2 -- the topic of this thread -- is a full sequel to 'both' games. It's not just a fucking sequel to the multiplayer elements brought about by Warband. For your sake I hope you're trolling because otherwise your perception is dirt poor.

I like M&B but felt a bit scammed by Warband since it didn't improve much on the political or economical aspects of the game. Sure it was better than M&B in every way, but not by a significant margin. Too much time and resources wasted on shit MP that could've been spent improving village, town and castle management and AI. I just can't play Warband for very long since the tedium always gets to me at some point due to the lack of other and more focused gameplay elements. It feels like an incomplete puzzle, because the whole picture hasn't been put together yet.

This. And when it came to the modding community, Warband created more of an interruption/rift than anything.

but if you don't like multiplayer combat games you can do something else

Or the MP folks could go play those crappy MP-only games from Kickstarter and leave M&B for those who want single player. Unless you've some proper sales stats to back you up, I'm not buying for a second that most people bought the game primarily for the multiplayer. The non-combat aspects of M&B and WB weren't all that stellar, granted, but that doesn't mean they couldn't improve them for this sequel.

I base it on the forums. 80% of the activity is MP related so is the modding scene.

Anyway even if you're right buying WB only for single-player would be quite silly, like playing TOEE for the dialogue and avoiding all combat

One Pendor is worth a dozen of those crappy multiplayer mods - naturally there's less properly fleshed out SP mods when they actually take some work to create. And of course it's mostly MP discussions these days, they're (relatively) old games by now and the singleplayer crowd has mostly moved on. No one's arguing that MP doesn't have more longevity, but it's a fact that most of the income from a game is generated early on - as an indie dev TaleWorlds probably doesn't give a shit about the fanatic mp people who'll play the game for years on end (unless they can find a way to milk cash off of them), it's the big crowd they're trying to get purchases from. And for that, you need the singleplayer component as well, and this time around it has to be better than what it was before.

Ah but this is all just banter - I bet those rumors about M&B II coming to the consoles as well are true and no one here will want to play it then - SP or MP. :troll:

What a shame. Hope this ain't the truth

If it is, this will hopefully end as commercially successful as Dreamfail. Retards aren't that much into games with mounted combat unless it is a loverslab mod or a horse armor DLC, and like Kingdom of Amalulz, it would end 100% overshadowed by Skyrim were it to become such

Didn't bother with Warband, but one of the charming things about MnB was that on one level it felt like an undistinguished NES game. There was no endgame, per se. For me that was at once frustrating and refreshing. Conquering everything was basically all there was.

It was fun as hell as it was-- but I agree that they should have enriched the game mechanics outside of the main combat (and perhaps the story/narrative, too) instead of putting together a multiplayer.

Mount & Blade hasn't noticably improved since I bought the beta in 2007, why would I be interested in a sequal that will fail to add onto what they've already failed to incorporate? :obviously:

Hello all!

TaleWorlds is scheduled to attend this coming GDC Conference and Gamescom in Cologne August 19-25.

I'll take anything at this point - even another shitty teaser trailer.

If you're getting the TotalBiscuit treatment to Gamescom your ass can waddle over to the TaleWorlds booth and ask questions!

"RPG Codex, huh? Yes, we got the VIP treatment waiting for you." *Gets escorted by security to backdoor alley*

:yeah:
I really want to play Bannerlord as a gamer, but I dread modding it.
