Fair enough! Here's the next episode.

We poison a single ration. It goes onto the bottom of our food pile - which is good, means it would be eaten last.

i-xgSMt99-M.png

There are 2 pathways to that house with the chief reeve. This is what happens when you tell the merc that you've got the food.

i-Rhb9rkx-M.png

Unfortunately we have to go all the way around get to the chest to place the poisoned meal in there.

i-G2L3V5W-M.png

Seems like a strange way to get an audience, but I suppose we have a few antidotes. And I guess this is Arlie's house after all. Reeve must be some term for guild leader?

i-8nHcX5z-M.png

What's this? A common merc can use magic from a scroll? Or maybe he's one of those self taught rogue mages - like the ones we saw in the sewers?

i-DSZHzJs-M.png

Either way, we're finally allowed to approach the house.

i-g3Nh8Ms-M.png

I find this whole "You tried to poison me! How silly and bold of you boys - lets have a chat" bit very strange, but I'm glad we're getting this quest out of the way.

i-Pwft5Vj-M.png

I half expected to get poisoned right back from that food and water.

i-T898Mn7-M.png

Hmmm, looks like we're getting a free book out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Duke gives us nothing, but this is nice.

i-4hjHBc9-M.png

Assuming he's still alive, with the way things are going in Romney...

i-wtw2FtS-M.png

We've seen this in stores before, but didn't want to spend the cash.

i-7BcLqPp-M.png

As I start flipping tags I notice that everyone's Health improved.

i-HkZqmdN-M.png

Gorath in particular is as tough as he's strong.

i-F2KbXzZ-M.png

And James with his mismatched Stamina.

i-rhcDW83-M.png

Guess it was written by a true master of the art.

i-rXHRP8B-M.png

Sariksbane against Silver Spider Poison??? How do we even tell the difference. Think there's only one poison effect.

i-C8WQVBF-M.png

Oh, good to know these two can be applied to weapons as well!

i-J2MhKpz-M.png

Looks like we get about 4% to both skills from the reading.

i-pTTHz5p-M.png

Making Gorath quite the smith.

i-Gk7HgtF-M.png

And James about average.

i-Fm6DBgR-M.png

We go down south all the way to Silden without encountering any more opposition.

i-ddJ3XhZ-M.png

Looks like they're still paying for good music.

i-ZRRKHBJ-M.png

We talk to the dwarf first.

i-hNqRRjm-M.png

Holy... Upright Man is dead? But are they sure they got the right guy? No one really knows who the Upright Man really is. And what's this about a key? Maybe we can detour to Krondor sewers at some point.

i-sBq6c3M-M.png

Don't think James knows about Upright Man's connection to him at this point in time. But perhaps I'm wrong?

i-c94JhnV-M.png

Last time this guy was super afraid of talking to us because he knew we killed some of Crawler's men.

i-NcVjdkT-M.png

Seems like he's calmer this time.

i-NcVjdkT-M.png

James uses the opportunity to "talk to the barkeep".

i-VhgNFDP-M.png

Yes, this seems like a lovely place.

i-Gp8QscK-M.png

Yes, does seem like these trinkets could have gone through a Fence.

i-cd2swZ7-M.png

What? But there's a magic spell store right next door...

i-4WQTQWG-M.png

Ah, but how much gold?

i-3VJVsCD-M.png

And here we have a merchant that's uninterested in gold?

i-9CL6Q3S-M.png

Its not so easy to hide what you were for most of your life James...

i-NL6WGd4-M.png

Huh, seems like he's a lot less afraid of Crawler today.

i-BzzmDVG-M.png

Well I'm glad we won't have to search through the dirty laundry.

i-rchXJ5B-M.png

Yeah, is he trying to set us up or something?

i-3KhqwRV-M.png

Well, I suppose he's seen us survive Crawler's men once - can't fault him for thinking we'd be up for it again.

i-zDjMjcf-M.png

I guess when you want to give a lady a good gift - we can't have some Crawler steal it!

i-RN5Cbj8-M.png

Seems like we can only learn one secret today.

i-jPcRDvW-M.png

Don't think we had much of a choice.

i-VhXRsks-M.png

I'm glad this guy will be more stationary than Mitchell Waylander.

i-cJCDnsG-M.png

He literally just said he wont...

i-DHGs2mz-M.png

Seems like that's the place. Last time some wandering sailors scared us off.

i-rRGNJ2D-M.png

Does not seem like the most secure arrangement.

i-qD9GGdJ-M.png

Hah, looks like figuring out this puzzle required knowledge of Botany.

i-6RRTKF3-M.png

It's nice to go to one's roots sometimes.

i-Z886w2g-M.png

Seems like Joftaz has a very good read of James.

i-b769X4B-M.png

Itsy bitsy spider went up the waterspout...

i-frc3hf2-M.png

It may be a City of Thieves but it does appear Joftaz is a man of his word.

i-FxspBKJ-M.png

Sounds like the Kingdom has a lot of demand for poisonings...

i-hxP5jQg-M.png

No matter the world nor the setting - seems like Detective work is the same everywhere.

i-9PsfMzZ-M.png

Yeah, those guys are still brazen.

i-pXxCJs8-M.png

That would make a lot more sense.

i-jVTvVn6-M.png

Abuk again? Trader... heh.

i-7774r8T-M.png

Hmmm, bringing a poisoning tool to Krondor? Could that have something to do with whatever happened to the Upright Man?

i-bwm4Qts-M.png

Pretty sure the only ship we can interact with in Silder is the one that goes to the Temple of Eortis.

i-bG4NBVD-M.png

Awwww Joftaz - and here I thought you had us all figured out.

i-vdq4gDz-M.png

Seems like this a very special spyglass and there should be a lot of normal ones being for sale in a Port city such as this?

i-43f3gBM-M.png

Ok, sounds like we need to reunite with Abuk and see what he knows.

i-QGSkpMm-M.png

And go to Krondor to see what's happening there.

Time to continue our investigation.

We head back up the road to try to find Abuk and soon catch sight of someone.

i-ZzjbDkB-M.png

He moved a little bit from previous location, but was still on the same road!

i-9r5vRwH-M.png

James gets down to business right away.

i-qCr3S2n-M.png

Well, its not like we can lock him up...

i-LKcJTwG-M.png

I feel like I'm watching a cop show.

i-MBR6BQL-M.png

Seems like we're getting Abuk's life story for some reason.

i-2Qs4g7d-M.png

A Cajun box?

i-JGr3SGW-M.png

Yes, would be nice to get that clarified.

i-ZgJdKSf-M.png

Like a strange bag of holding I guess.

i-64Zrqf8-M.png

I don't feel like Abuk is explaining this really well. How are things "lost" in a certain place and how does that other dude contribute to this arrengement?

i-HxDckbJ-M.png

Sounds like the guy might be stealing them? But then why teleport them away?

i-pV93Fcq-M.png

I'm not sure how this helps us. Sounds like we've got to go north of Romney to find the source of the teleportation?

i-m2FsSm8-M.png

I guess if it was all stolen from the same source - maybe that source had more incriminating things. Speaking of: why were the Bas-Tyra men interested in the Spyglass in the first place?

i-Tt6MDzP-M.png

This note seems like it could be critical.

i-btxB9jB-M.png

It's not in his possession?

i-Ww4NMKk-M.png

Oh, we've already opened that chest. Damn - I think I recently threw out the note that was there. Think it was about someone making a large payment?

i-nghZN57-M.png

Kindness? Seemed like we threatened him into revealing all this.

i-Jgvcmnb-M.png

We keep going West - we still have business in Krondor. And soon reach Lyton and its inn.

i-xGdFjHL-M.png

Nothing new here other than more money for a tune.

i-Qk678vZ-M.png

We keep going and soon reach the Temple of Death.

i-VXP3p6T-M.png

I don't want to walk all the way to Krondor - perhaps its time to check out the Teleportation system?

i-rwJqpN5-M.png

We pull the trigger and turn into a red smear across the map. Our adventures are over.

i-GMCTmVX-M.png

Or not, apparently we still exist. How does that philosophical dilemma go? If someone dismembers you into a string of atoms - move those atoms to the other side of the world and puts them back together - are you still you?

i-wkFPxJV-M.png

Us or not - we're here.

i-RzG7ZKg-M.png

We get out of the temple and I decide to head to Sarth before heading back down to Krondor. There's a staff I want to buy for Owyn. But we find an ambush right outside of Sarth.

i-79PzKfz-M.png

Which improved Owyn's pathetic Scouting skill.

i-NWjhpsz-M.png

We try to sneak by it - but fail fairly quickly.

i-VFHv5S4-M.png

James hits first rogue for 31.

i-psMjt9H-M.png

Owyn's swing is parried.

i-JMTWqnT-M.png

Another rogue attempts to parry Gorath's swing - but fails at that and at life - after taking 57 damage.

i-PKKbHTv-M.png

James tries to finish the guy who he hit previously - and who is running away very fast. But James misses.

i-gj7tjSQ-M.png

Owyn's swing attempt connects through block for 14.

i-M8b6pnS-M.png

Gorath takes down an archer with a simple thrust for 45.

i-8Xz5X6C-M.png

James can't catch up to the runner - makes a difficult shot instead - 17 damage.

i-8vcn957-M.png

Owyn connects with a swing again - 14.

i-Fw7Q4Vj-M.png

Surprisingly Gorath manages to make the difficult shot as well - 18 damage is enough to finish the runner.

i-6RFmkWg-M.png

James hits the last guy for 33.

i-gtmp8sj-M.png

Owyn fails to end the fight by missing his swing.

i-7m7jLDv-M.png

James does so instead with a hit for 34.

i-jm7Wsfc-M.png

Our heavy hits make it more difficult to train fighting skills, but James still gets slightly better.

i-H9hkPFm-M.png

And so does Owyn!

i-mJHWmPs-M.png

We rarely ever get the chance to shoot, but hey - we weren't going to get that guy if both James and Gorath didn't nail their shots!

i-F7THwn4-M.png

We haven't needed much healing powder lately.

i-H27TSjC-M.png

Doesn't seem like these guys were well equipped.

i-j4xKVrk-M.png

Ohoh, poisoned arrows are always trouble. It doesn't matter how high your defense skill is - archery ignores that.

i-2bWZsK6-M.png

Well, at least all of them had a little gold.

i-jhD6w76-M.png

Here it is.

i-KNVZtDH-M.png

We manage to haggle the staff down a little bit, but its still super expensive.

i-KpXKG7c-M.png

Still doesn't compare to our new swords. By the way - the 40 uses are free casts of Skyfire.

i-wJK4q2g-M.png

Seems like a very good upgrade from Wooden Staff.

i-F9MqMgk-M.png

Wasn't there a door we couldn't pick in the caves below Sarth?

i-Pxkt7DZ-M.png

We go in and find the door. Mini map was instrumental - the door was a lot further in than I remembered.

i-Bk6cF44-M.png

That lock still looks tough, but James is so good at lockpicking nowadays.

i-BX3CVVL-M.png

And its more than enough.

i-mRv4WnD-M.png

Looks like a body, a chest and some spiders.

i-fZmSpgD-M.png

We get the jump on them!

i-bX38MRz-M.png

Strange to see that random body on the combat grid.
James hits for some number ending in 5, so probably 25.

i-9C34r5g-M.png

Owyn misses with a freezing spell.

i-PfCVCQm-M.png

Gorath's thrust hits the second spider for 52. So James's hit must have been 35.

i-pSQ3BTp-M.png

Spider parries James somehow.

i-Rx57m2N-M.png

Owyn tries out his new staff. A thrust does 13 damage.

i-Jr2bjQD-M.png

Gorath finishes one of the spiders with a hit for 54.

i-hjMFkK8-M.png

James does the same with the second. Hit was for 38.

i-6dFCqhK-M.png

The body didn't have much.

i-DFnB686-M.png

The chest is a two word puzzle chest! The choices are:

RWRDL ATJSN
OENCE TOKOT
TLIPC MNFEV
SRANK VARHS

i-n35VHVg-M.png

It took me a while to figure it out but:

Apparently the answer is this. I'm not quite sure how that makes things fair - maybe both mares won't listen to their orders in that case?

i-25ZCKW2-M.png

Some really good stuff in this chest! No wonder it was so hard to get to it.

i-f6gDs55-M.png

A new kind of a sword! A dwarven one...

i-V7df477-M.png

That's very good - but unfortunately worse than Griefmaker. And we need the extra accuracy from the thrust of the rapier to make James more effective.

i-ZfnCLWS-M.png

We get out of the caves and decide to visit that farming monk.

i-bqJTMR8-M.png

Hmmmm... Funny that he's the first one to warn us.

i-bkBWLN4-M.png

Maybe Tiburn is closer to wherever Quegian Fever comes from?

i-Dtk6DpG-M.png

Isn't this a city of knowledge though?

i-9Wq3nPD-M.png

Owyn is on the same page.

i-Dwmq4Z8-M.png

This guy reminds me of buddhist monks - they tend to drop wisdom via these stories.

i-jxZzSB3-M.png

Life without internet sounds rough.

i-kjP2pL4-M.png

I guess if I was a farmer I'd have second thoughts about a Clergyman's advice on Farming.

i-GFPq84z-M.png

THAT's your point? Seems like the story spoke about the opposite.

i-Pm54Mv7-M.png

Well, come to think of it - wasn't there some chess move we were going to look for here?

i-NX2q8kv-M.png

There it is, but apparently we can also talk to him about Nighthawks.

i-HtSB4pF-M.png

We have yet to meet those. Maybe we haven't because we've been killing the Nighthawks too quickly.

i-6mrCwKh-M.png

What spells are those?

i-gdztd4F-M.png

So if you kill all the enemies before the Nighthawk comes back to life - the fight ends without having to cast any special spells.

i-MDMBWw7-M.png

Well, this spell still sounds useful.

i-ZVxsQTb-M.png

Yeah, lets buy it.

i-2BwM5m4-M.png

Plus its nice to fill out spell slots.

i-b9zPMmQ-M.png

Take your time, WE aren't getting resurrected.

i-Kb4KpHf-M.png

Owyn will scribe it once the conversation is done.

i-wVvkFCC-M.png

We start the conversation about Abbot's Turn.

i-Q2ztfNP-M.png

Sounds like a roundabout yes.

i-brgv72g-M.png

James seemed quite good at chess, but people with significant chess skill are often the ones that benefit from chess books the most.

i-Zgb2gbt-M.png

I wonder if these monks get something special for bringing in money? Seems like this guy always works hard.

i-2RHPwTF-M.png

Why not - we'll be heading North soon enough, might learn that De Sandau Retreat move as well.

i-4cQ95cn-M.png

Its a wonder that any of his fieldwork ever gets done.

i-fHQ56XS-M.png

They need to improve their cataloging system. Cock-Fighting and Chess in the same area?

i-Ksz9r4q-M.png

If its so rare - why not make copies?

i-3Zv3QxM-M.png

Seems like Brother Anthony is not of the same opinion as Brother Marc on the value of handing out knowledge.

i-FQkB6m5-M.png

That name fits the spell quite well.

i-25ZCKW2-M.png

I had already seen a riddle like this so for once I knew the answer.
They want to find the slowest horse, but having a race where you have to go the slowest isn't really fair; by switching horses, they can ride as a they want and the one arriving first would show that his horse, ridden by the other brother, was the slowest. At least that's how I understand it.

yeah, old riddle, also appears in a fairy tale i think?

either way, that monk should probably hire someone to farm for him while he searches the library for a hundred gold a pop

yes, it seems a waste to put a learned monk (as in knowing to read, write and search a big library, which wouldn't be common in a medieval setting) to work the fields, which definitely unskilled labor. Perhaps he does that by penance/habit/way to balance his intellectual activities?

Real life monks like Mendel did such unskilled labor just as well

I forgot about him. Is that how he discovered his inheritance theories?

Ayup. By breeding legumes iirc.

For monks, the physical and sometimes menial labor was a way to remind themselves to be humble. Or something like that.

Time to return to Krondor.

We make it back to Krondor without a problem.

i-BXnxnmn-M.png

No one has anything new to say at the inn. But Krondor still pays for a good song.

i-vmWQ42P-M.png

After some shopping we go in to investigate what's happening in the sewers. Were the rumors true?

i-x3WCTJ8-M.png

Soon after entering we run into that kid again.

i-tZBmGrH-M.png

Well well well - something IS going on.

i-Nr3mM86-M.png

James plays it dumb just in case.

i-XkrvWMJ-M.png

Sounds like they're choosing a new leader?

i-C9WMHrs-M.png

Sorry James...

i-dNXmF3D-M.png

You know... with how widespread this information seems to be - maybe its faked?

i-K5bSvXq-M.png

Is there really any question?

i-pNsqKhr-M.png

Hmmm, someone betrayed the Upright Man? And poisoned? I guess the game is implying the Nighthawk with the silver spider was responsible.

i-V8cXb4F-M.png

Quite a few topics to cover.

i-r3Dcx9n-M.png

I guess the Locked Door refers to that rusted thing we could not open in Chapter 1.

i-M39W9BR-M.png

Limm keeps switching between acting like James is the most famous thief there is and acting like James is no thief at all.

i-wBWHb8J-M.png

I guess thats an accurate description of James' current role.

i-6BCVPjF-M.png

All locks have keys - or at least did when the lock was created. Of course if the only key was dropped into the Bitter Sea...

i-crt2T9t-M.png

Hmmmm, think Crawler was looking for this item.

i-GDfjMQH-M.png

Wasn't Limm the one who sold us the note about it? Can he even read?

i-4WJFqnT-M.png

Oh? Sounds related to Nighthawks. How are they connected to the Crawler?

i-bwt2LQF-M.png

Could be another reason that Nighthawk was heading this way I guess.

i-sHZ2R2S-M.png

This strongly suggests its behind that door we and the Mockers could not open.

i-FnbMxLT-M.png

Hmmm, we don't really need keys anymore, but no harm in asking.

i-dP8tLc6-M.png

Is that a euphemism for something?

i-xVZd7pS-M.png

Apparently Limm is the best ever - why is he guarding the sewer then?

i-Rqjws26-M.png

Why do I think 'Yellow' stands for the guy's teeth?

i-Wg4khgR-M.png

Sigh... and now I feel personally responsible for not clearing out those rogues in Chapter 2.

i-VM3kmvR-M.png

James' grief lasts for half a sentence.

i-ZthX4PN-M.png

NOW it sounds like a euphemism.

i-kRxvXjc-M.png

No, I guess its not.

i-T8PH34X-M.png

Hmmm, perhaps the guy that poisoned the Upright Man? But then how did the Guys from Bas Tyra get the Silver Spider?

i-CtdVhH4-M.png

Yes, sounds like a useful item. What is the key for? The door in the sewers? Some kind of Nighthawk base?

i-w6WkCc9-M.png

Wow, that's a refreshing change of pace.

i-ZwbQzPL-M.png

A new topic sounds like it could lead somewhere productive.

i-FprjSMB-M.png

Yeah kid, that's some big claims.

i-kM3Hvg2-M.png

The kid is not easy to manipulate.

i-8VStNnw-M.png

James shows our cards.

i-Frt47br-M.png

Kinda expensive, but I guess we're rich.

i-zvgGSbQ-M.png

That sounds like a real lesson. Brings up the question - why couldn't James teach Owyn that?

i-S5JcsDF-M.png

Sounds like he's bored.

i-DjWJPfw-M.png

Ok, let's see if we can get more info on what happened.

i-R4jcTVJ-M.png

He did imply it strongly...

i-hKQPZwr-M.png

It's second hand info, but... probably best we can hope for. Ultimately if its some kind of fake story invented by the Upright Man to keep the Crawler fooled - we won't really find out.

i-dzBn48M-M.png

An Amulet of Upright Man? Seems like they're commonly sold in stores.

i-HNn2mzT-M.png

How in the world does this kid have everything???

i-cnMpBNV-M.png

Thats only like 18 gold cheaper than the stores.

i-xPSmkrZ-M.png

So we say no. Besides - we already have one.

i-HTzWgP7-M.png

Sounds like the kid is pro-choice.

i-6QqQXFG-M.png

James is quite good at stealth after that lesson.

i-6DtZBRt-M.png

And Owyn's skill is heavily boosted by those elven slippers.

i-jpd3bHH-M.png

Our elf is actually the least stealthy member as a result.

i-phFssLp-M.png

Limm does not allow us into the Sewer so I guess we need to return to Romney - our only lead is Prank's Stone north of there - unless we learn something new after turning in the Guild War quest.
We head north towards Tanneurs as I wanted to try a different path. And.. we meet some enemies.

i-nt8gNhJ-M.png

Our improved stealth skills are not enough.

i-P2qdcCZ-M.png

James hits for 33.

i-DwLNqxG-M.png

Enemy gets too close to Owyn - so Owyn is forced to attack. Misses.

i-6984N82-M.png

Gorath hits Owyn's attacker for 45.

i-4hWJtkw-M.png

James is parried.

i-GzWpGNf-M.png

Owyn drops one with a swing for 18.

i-Nh3CvZn-M.png

Gorath gets hit for a very small number.
He tries to swing back - but misses.

i-Zm3P9R9-M.png

James finishes a second one with a thrust that lands through parry - 34 damage.

i-M5TMCrF-M.png

Owyn hits with a swing - 16 damage.

i-R8F5Pnw-M.png

Gorath finishes one with a swing for 54.

i-XMM6SV9-M.png

Owyn gets hit for 8.
James gets parried.

i-wkxQdsb-M.png

Owyn misses with a swing.

i-6z6C9Hq-M.png

Gorath does not - 55 damage is enough to finish that guy.

i-T9FLp6w-M.png

James misses.

i-tZCPnDq-M.png

While Owyn is resting - here's that new spell.

i-ZhPc6Lj-M.png

Gorath finishes yet another one with a swing - this time for 54.

i-DBC8FPC-M.png

James gets hit for 6.
He retaliates for 34.

i-LNVVmZ4-M.png

Gorath finishes the fight with a thrust. Think it was 54 damage again.

i-wbCMHL7-M.png

Gorath gets even better.

i-jbfbB7N-M.png

Yawn...

i-LhfRGNd-M.png

Doesn't seem like these guys are all that special.

i-XkW3cBC-M.png

Oh... why does a common pirate have mage boosting alchemy?

i-fpHhGrc-M.png

This makes a little more sense.

i-vPjVH37-M.png

Back to mostly generic items.

i-MZfcQgK-M.png

Urgh...

i-vPhMj8z-M.png

We'll continue back to Romney next time.

Time to pursue our last lead!

As we continue north we keep using the spyglass and notice this dig hole behind a field just outside of Tanneurs we missed in Chapter 1.

i-LBCnCtM-M.png

Not bad. We always seem short on Aventurine.

i-WscnCJ4-M.png

One plus about using a different road back - we get a chance to play at more taverns. Such as this one in Tanneurs.

i-DN3nfcZ-M.png

This explains why we missed the road towards Sethanon in Chapter one. We went to check out that farm off the minor road and missed its branch.

i-M9cN42Z-M.png

Very interesting. First time we see a branch on a zone ending.

i-9qjvjRX-M.png

We don't want to deal with Dimwood - so towards Sethanon we go.

i-z3WcrQd-M.png

Shortly we find a house and a barn.

i-BBR9sCD-M.png

This barn seems less generic than others and promises some food from the house.

i-ks8TBWH-M.png

Yes, these strapping lads would like something to eat!

i-DDfPBX2-M.png

Guess living fairly close to Sethanon did nothing to ruin these nice couple's hospitality.

i-gwXgQRH-M.png

Spyglass reveals something hidden in the corner up ahead.

i-m8J7jJS-M.png

Nice!

i-7VNN7Cb-M.png

The options are:

TROPS
BHEDT
CERRD
OLAOA

i-4Pp4zW8-M.png

The options for the second chest are:

PATD
NIDE
AHNS
WOSH

i-PGf8gPk-M.png

Here are the answers and loot:

This one seemed very easy to me.

i-t8VRzPQ-M.png

Is it a spell Owyn does not yet know?

i-HHqCmG5-M.png

Yes! I believe this spell disables spellcasters. But... freezing them does it as well.

i-g7LNWnx-M.png

I dunno about that being a very good hint. To be honest I was trying 'WINE' when this worked...

i-zCDqQ28-M.png

Mediocre loot here.

i-Hj6H4ct-M.png

After this we're back to the woods we've been to already. We stop bye Nia's tavern and play there.

i-9Thc6cJ-M.png

And after that its just whole lot of running to... Romney.

i-DKKMM62-M.png

We go in to turn in the Guild's quest.

i-vMBQPCM-M.png

I don't remember this prophecy coming true in the books but it has been over a decade.

i-W7xjFDm-M.png

Doesn't look like we're getting any new leads here.

i-NXdCbd7-M.png

When we step out of Romney we notice some pirates right outside. How did we not trigger them before?

i-GgFtJr5-M.png

Because apparently you have to get in their faces to trigger the fight.

i-w7cnQ9C-M.png

Which I guess makes it hard to surprise them.

i-MQCpdn8-M.png

Here is that new spell.

i-6fdjdNw-M.png

James hits for 31.
Owyn hits with the fireball. 60 damage is enough to bring down one pirate and another one gets slightly burned for 13.

i-qVcnBmT-M.png

James misses on the second attempt.

i-ZGggWQ8-M.png

Gorath hits with a swing. 57 damage is enough to finish the slightly burned enemy.

i-38q8tnP-M.png

Gorath gets hit for 9.
James hits for 32. There is now only a single enemy left.

i-jtrxV3X-M.png

Gorath tries defending while Owyn is healing - but the enemy hits him for 11 on the second try.
Owyn freezes the bastard and everyone heals up.
Gorath finishes the fight with a thrust for 46 after that's done.

i-vFLkSc3-M.png

These guys went down so easy, I don't expect them to have much.

i-m39dH5b-M.png

I guess that armor is decent.

i-G6LpHGQ-M.png

Oooooh! Elven Arrows!

i-dfx7wG3-M.png

Verrry nice.

i-6wF9s55-M.png

Well... the gold is nice.

i-43PPsWt-M.png

Soon after we hit another area border.

i-d2mRfPk-M.png

Hmmmm... I don't believe we're close to Tiburn - but apparently Owyn has some family up ahead.

i-TmKZxpd-M.png

Looking forward to learning more about Owyn's background.

i-kH3BSxJ-M.png

We notice a nighthawk up ahead.

i-B52d2bZ-M.png

Haha, its nice to give them a taste of their own medicine.

i-NnqVkq8-M.png

James hits for 32.

i-Nj7Lc9p-M.png

Owyn hits with a 10 hitpoint Rime bolt. It does no damage, I wonder if I have to invest full price for it to do damage?

i-JLRSMrR-M.png

Gorath hits for 47.

i-FzMrmXM-M.png

James hits for 32 again.

i-VRXfv6t-M.png

Gorath's Nighthawk runs... far! Seems like these guys have a lot of Hp. Owyn is forced to use the 1000 nights spell on him. But... it doesn't work?
Shooting won't finish an enemy that is apparently healthy enough to move 5 squares. Gorath attacks another one instead. Thrust for 51 does the trick.

i-sh5jgxH-M.png

James is just fast enough to catch up and hit the runner. 33 damage is enough.

i-vLkwmBj-M.png

After Owyn rests up - Gorath starts on the last guy. First hit is 45.

i-mx9w3Cx-M.png

James contributes 32.

i-rz2MdMs-M.png

Owyn finishes the fight with a hit for 12.

i-zGpt2K8-M.png

Owyn gets better at his magics.

i-THXGC6m-M.png

Keys are useless for any party with James. But James be with all parties in the future?

i-JfhKLxw-M.png

Nice crossbow! Looks like he forgot to apply the poison though.

i-MWdmrqf-M.png

This one sells for a bit too.

i-HXcrQ2R-M.png

Well, there's the target for our last lead. Lets hope we learn something new there next time.

To Prank's Stone!

We head forward a bit and notice a hole.

i-GxJVHLj-M.png

Nothing much here.

i-QF2d8CX-M.png

A bit further we approach a bridge and ...

i-fQT5v2D-M.png

Well at least it seems pretty simple.

i-s7RPTbn-M.png

Move the target forward two squares to trigger the bolt and disable the Staffs.

i-Q2bqp5t-M.png

And we're in the clear.

i-mF7X7H8-M.png

On the other side of the bridge we see some dudes to fight, but I can't seem to trigger the attempt to sneak up on them.

i-nXd5fX2-M.png

Looks like that's due to some kind of special encounter.

i-Pwb26sN-M.png

I suppose that would be better than staining our swords again. Depending on the assistance of course...

i-2MwMGwx-M.png

Well now - giving it away with calling Mitchel's Guild bloody. Plus there was some suspicion that he was the one to drug up King's men. So we say no.

i-8G5Q5wq-M.png

Who the hell is Ian? Was that the Duke? Since we're not sure - we say no again. Honestly we don't really support anyone anyway.

i-7M5LCZW-M.png

Sounds like it was a trap question.

i-j89Mb86-M.png

There's not much more until we reach Prank's Stone.

i-qs3MC2q-M.png

What's in the first house?

i-wBZW6NP-M.png

Nothing :(

i-zn4R9WQ-M.png

Lets hope for better luck with the second house.

i-TZgsPZb-M.png

Sounds like utter bs, but I suppose its a magical world. And we might need an emerald in the future to play some chess.

i-ZxS8J2k-M.png

We don't really have Rubies anyway - so we say no.

i-3FBchkQ-M.png

Ta ta dude. Ta ta.

i-TKhGMZd-M.png

What's in this house? A sword converter?

i-dtZtNH4-M.png

Well, that's a whole better deal than the inns we've seen. And what is this about a dragon's lover???

i-fZG3GHb-M.png

Little side road takes us to some sort of rock. Guess this is the town's namesake?

i-PLhZfDv-M.png

Seems like an unusual reaction to a rock...

i-XLHfLsr-M.png

Well, knowing what we know - that will likely steal item(s) from us and put them into that Thorn chest near Silden. I don't see how that could help us, so we say no.

i-WjbFLxF-M.png

Seems like Gorath's extraordinary senses are on-point once again.

i-8sXQsFn-M.png

Next house looks like an inn.

i-LCnrGBH-M.png

Hmmm, sounds like the Stone drove away all the tourists.

i-r5xVLCb-M.png

Next house.

i-94sj5WD-M.png

Hehe, if we didn't hear about a supposed actor living in town I would suspect this is some sort of Buffalo Bill situation.

i-RP7x9Lv-M.png

Wonder what would happen if we didn't have 25 gold.

i-xhXhDTh-M.png

Hmmmm, another inn?

i-jJBGDcL-M.png

Oh, that's right. The actor mentioned this place. We talk tot he giant dude first.

i-N6dQmzg-M.png

Hmmm... Nighthawks worship Kahooli. Kenting Rush is two towns to the north. Perhaps that's were we need to head to find their base?

i-Bk5dQkd-M.png

Doesn't sound like being a Nighthawk is fun.

i-n5WMBcf-M.png

What does this lady have to say?

i-GWzFmrR-M.png

What? Instructed to bring us a torch? Sounds like a signal.

i-WpdBGPV-M.png

Sigh. Sounds like this has to do with James's twin again.

i-RLbmwMJ-M.png

We earn some dough with a good tune.

i-TGcqhqL-M.png

Next house.

i-KLgLLbp-M.png

Bah.

i-rQT2Szs-M.png

Last house in town seems to be a shop.

i-P67Q3Rn-M.png

Alchemy is a niche market, but we sometimes see a need for certain substances.

i-Ph79PPR-M.png

Two new items here.

i-vwcHJGX-M.png

Yet another substance to add to weapon damage for a bit.

i-GXVd5r3-M.png

Enchanted blades are very rare for now.

i-HdSzxpt-M.png

Think that's the first time we see the anti-venom in a store. We still have some though.

i-jqJsD2t-M.png

Well, there are no leads for us here. So lets look at that note from Thorn chest again.

i-GrN9Pmj-M.png

Cavall Keep is the next town to the north. Lets see what we find there - next time.

The guy talking about the temple of Kahooli was giving you extremely subtle hints about a quest you have to do later. That's one where I never would have got it without looking it up in a walkthrough.

Naphtha is great and I would use that in the battles that are actually hard. The defensive stuff that you can apply to your armor I never found much use for though. You can't anticipate what the enemy has on his blade so it's pretty useless.

Heading to Cavall's Keep.

Soon after leaving town we see some hidden items behind a mountain up ahead.

i-M5MVx6L-M.png

They're chests. The letters for this one are:

PERDE
WOISD
THONS
IREOG

i-3g8gkWx-M.png

And for this one are:

TUVETED
RPINNCE
SHOOYSS
OILSRRY

i-fTMDQ22-M.png

Answers and loot:

I gotta be honest - I rolled the letters until this one came up. Felt extra stupid once I saw the answer.

i-5bnjGLJ-M.png

More awesome arrows!

i-6rfGCpV-M.png

Took me a second look before it suddenly seemed obvious.

i-VxmVRzH-M.png

Shiny!

i-hX3VQt7-M.png

We keep on moving and see some Nighthawks ahead.

i-57dt6Lc-M.png

Tough to sneak up on them.

i-bGzf7RQ-M.png

Gorath gets shot for 2.
James hits for 34.

i-RNzNgbx-M.png

Owyn launches a Frost bolt at an enemy charging him. He misses wildly and instead hits another enemy much further to the left.

i-WfwWQs9-M.png

Gorath charges the archer. Hits for 48.

i-sG3W3Rb-M.png

James hits the original target of the frost bolt for 34.

i-GqcgKVv-M.png

Owyn repeats his feat of hitting the wrong enemy with the wrong frost bolt. I better stop doing this. Hitting Gorath or James could be trouble.

i-p74pSBm-M.png

Gorath finishes one guy with a hit for 53.

i-dF3wGPp-M.png

James hits for 32.

i-jmnJC64-M.png

Owyn gets parried.

i-jZxdd6q-M.png

So does James.

i-sXKbfvg-M.png

Owyn hits with a swing for 18. Its enough to finish the enemy.

i-p3Rjfcr-M.png

Gorath finishes a frozen enemy with a hit for 52.

i-SsDsLtv-M.png

James hits for 30.

i-3JNgTmz-M.png

After some resting and enemy getting free - Gorath finishes the fight with a hit for 46.

i-Zp55Ft9-M.png

Haven't seen defensive potion in a while. Not like we need it nowadays.

i-gCdw2Hk-M.png

What is that liquid?

i-rBjZmTg-M.png

No idea what that does.

i-tFT9DzC-M.png

Looks like Gorath was lucky not to get poisoned.

i-DjbdBRp-M.png

REALLY lucky!

i-H7jMV2j-M.png

Continuing on - we see a box off the side of the road.

i-RDkH8Bf-M.png

No puzzles here. Just a nasty surprise to those unprepared.

i-m7zZms3-M.png

James's super high lockpicking skill saves the day once again.

i-KKfRRq8-M.png

Whoa. Guess there's an Emerald to play with AND a ruby to try to convert.

i-pc4Czqx-M.png

A bit further on we see two rogues patrolling around a temple, but attempting to sneak up on them leads to this:

i-jNfspmc-M.png

Sounds like bunch of bull to steal our stuff.

i-KCfWtnp-M.png

Sure enough - we do NOT get struck dead coming into the temple.

i-zZQw8xr-M.png

It's been a while since our last Teleportation temple. Nice to get one on this side of the map.

i-qGCF7Wz-M.png

We go to talk to the head priest. Maybe the god of luck can help us?

i-qd6mMkH-M.png

Lol... the god of luck CANNOT help us. Woe is to us.

i-wxvJKCf-M.png

We continue on and see some barbarian looking dudes ahead.

i-QcChbSF-M.png

Thanks Owyn...

i-cWvDRn8-M.png

These are Trolls. They hit much harder and have a lot more HP.
James hits for 17. Looks like they have really high armor too - despite the naked appearance. Must be tough skin.

i-NKsJz49-M.png

Owyn unleashes fully charged Frost Bolt. It hits - 60!!! damage. Guess these guys are vulnerable to magic.

i-WQQmGmB-M.png

Gorath hits with a swing. 30 damage.

i-DgqmQ5X-M.png

James misses.

i-mZsMp4q-M.png

Gorath hits for 30 with another swing again.

i-MPhTrMX-M.png

Troll lands a hit on him - 11.
James hits for 17.

i-HLpJhhR-M.png

Gorath misses a thrust.
Troll lands a hit on him for 12.
James gets hit for 16.
James hits for 17 again.

i-V4QnqWJ-M.png

Gorath misses with a swing.

i-3K9Fp8h-M.png

James gets parried.

i-9PRVjkZ-M.png

Gorath hits with a thrust through parry - for 24.

i-fqLM6DK-M.png

James does the same for 17.

i-Q7knSVk-M.png

Gorath gets parried.

i-xtTqNN5-M.png

James hits for 17.

i-sPCPb7s-M.png

Gorath hits for 26.

i-vd6RMbK-M.png

James hits for 18.

i-5VwQHWX-M.png

Gorath finally finishes one with a hit for 28.

i-7B8m7TW-M.png

James does the same with a hit for 18.

i-j6sxtbb-M.png

Gives us time to inspect one of these trolls. His stats were probably higher before he dropped all his stamina due to that frost bolt.

i-jGjspQP-M.png

James starts on the last troll. 16.

i-2vg3fzv-M.png

Owyn joins in on the fun. 6.

i-Wr4qBxj-M.png

17 from James.

i-vdhhCx7-M.png

And another 6 from Owyn.

i-MDZBNV7-M.png

James misses.
Another hit for Owyn - 6.

i-f7Pcx6H-M.png

James finishes this torture with a hit for 19.

i-gq4pZrL-M.png

Sometime during the fight - James got better at defense.

i-4Cvqksm-M.png

And at the end he was better at offense too.

i-pzHqdjS-M.png

Gorath got better at defense as well.

i-hd3Xmmw-M.png

Trolls don't seem to have much, but one of them has a motherload.

i-rpL5zw9-M.png

Another one has nothing and the last one has something very basic.

i-XhLC7KJ-M.png

We're about 60% there.

Getting back on the road.

A bit further up the road we notice a long side road leading to the river. Before we reach the end of it - we run into a trap!

i-qdL4XwQ-M.png

Hmmm... The cannons seem staggered. Guess we've gotta use the blockers in a staggered manner as well.

i-R5LvCxk-M.png

The closest one of the right seem like it's at the blockers level already, so James pushes the left. Looks like that works.

i-fBWsBZk-M.png

Followed by Owyn... Now how do I do the next bit?

i-9xghNMX-M.png

Seems like there won't be enough room. So Owyn pushes Gorath's block horizontally to make some.

i-gp7wjhQ-M.png

And... turns out we can move blocks diagonally too!

i-CK7SBhb-M.png

Which makes enough room to proceed.

i-BXr74NF-M.png

A bit further on the road we seem to run into some sort of location.

i-zJkfbBG-M.png

Ah, the waterfall makes perfect sense.

i-C4sHM8F-M.png

How beautiful. And there seems to be something we can inspect here.

i-Vz2ssgM-M.png

Huh, what are the chances you'd randomly wonder upon some "suspicious leaves" in the forest?

i-VnnZ3FP-M.png

Oh wow, guess James gets this copy of the scouting ring.

i-VH2xhXg-M.png

Oooo, what's behind the waterfall?

i-b7kpMrn-M.png

Hmmm. No mention of a keyhole? Maybe the missing knight piece would change the situation somehow?

i-xbmzfDK-M.png

Nothing left at the waterfall, but we notice a chest on the way back to the main road.

i-ZwwsfnQ-M.png

This can sell for a few gold.

i-8BDdMmW-M.png

Later on - we notice a hidey hole.

i-bM3nhK8-M.png

Its so interesting to see the blessed basic swords. Its like finding a pile of shit that has been painted gold.

i-fXmmW7P-M.png

To the right of the hole the map opens up and the spyglass reveals a large number of interesting locations.

i-FFdgJmN-M.png

A stump? We're in the middle of chapter 3 and this is the first time we see such a thing.

i-fRvVMV6-M.png

Huh, definitely a new type of storage.

i-HSH3M6T-M.png

A wooden key inside a wooden stump. How appropriate.

i-Rbctnnh-M.png

Next up are two chests.

i-VmCc2cD-M.png

The options for this one are:

SIADE
THOCT
PRTLS
AESIY

i-w4X65RK-M.png

And the second one:

SLLAT
CARSD
ATIRS
OUSDE

i-zNhsNjr-M.png

Solutions and loot:

Took me a while - the orphans were leading me in the wrong direction before I refocused on what war disturbs.

i-Swb5dDg-M.png

Its interesting that the tsurani arrows do the same damage and have the same accuracy as standard poisoned arrows.

i-J9zQmw6-M.png

This also confused me for a bit. Kept thinking of kitchen items before figuring it out.

i-PZmtp8m-M.png

That armor will sell for a lot!

i-42mVffw-M.png

The last location in that area is a... barn? What is a barn doing the middle of the woods?

i-ZR6JbkQ-M.png

Dammit. Where are your neck hairs Gorath???

i-r4QKwt7-M.png

Owyn gets shot for 4.
James hits for 32.

i-vTxJqfm-M.png

He then gets hit for 9 by a charging enemy.
Owyn misses with a 5 hp Frost bolt.

i-cMFMcGV-M.png

Gets shot by another archer. Not sure for how much.
Gorath takes the first enemy down with a swing for 58.

i-cKVcRC5-M.png

James misses and gets hit for 9.

i-S9Kz65w-M.png

Owyn hits with a swing through block. 18 damage. Takes 1 damage himself - guess one of the arrows was poisoned.

i-Mwxs3JC-M.png

Gorath gets parried by an archer.

i-cSVQgxJ-M.png

That archer than charges Owyn and hits for 7.
Gorath gets hit in melee for 9.
Owyn gets parried, takes poison damage.
Gorath hits with a swing for 57. Another enemy goes down.

i-ZVHCQhh-M.png

James hits the far archer for 29.

i-ZVHCQhh-M.png

Gorath gets parried.

i-fdrNPFJ-M.png

James finishes another one with a hit for 30.

i-hDcdkHF-M.png

Gorath gets parried again.

i-9vf2CgD-M.png

James hits one of Owyn's attackers for 29.

i-s9SwFRw-M.png

Gorath gets hit for 10.
Gorath takes revenge with a successful swing - but 58 damage is not enough to finish that moredhel.

i-7rFvqn8-M.png

James gets parried.

i-WV9wqVW-M.png

Gorath finishes one with a thrust for 53.

i-JzVKCSd-M.png

James misses.

i-jnfJ7Ch-M.png

Gorath finishes the same target. The thrust was 45 damage.

i-RffXGbw-M.png

James gets parried.

i-NVKXGQn-M.png

Gorath finishes the fight with a thrust for 52.

i-FbXp5J6-M.png

Owyn has to take one of the anti-venoms.

i-57tQ2Sp-M.png

Nice sword on this guy.

i-8sFLSSc-M.png

Spell casting alchemy makes no sense on non-caster enemies.

i-XGCJV5x-M.png

It's been a while since we've seen moredhel. Perhaps this note will tell us why they're here.

i-67GXS4F-M.png

Well, well, well - not only does this confirm Gorath's story - we also find out what the Knight Piece is for AND that we have to look for it in a well.

i-L2wQMnM-M.png

Enemies have definitely gotten better stuff lately.

i-8ZBCWCS-M.png

Not across the board through.

i-dbgg9zT-M.png

Not at all.
