Purge the xeno doomstacks.
A gun-type nuke is no
cyclonic torpedo, but it will do the job. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to avoid them, the alien invaders may be undefeatable before 1963 without use of the proper way of dealing with xenos scum.
========================
The Eurasian Stalemate begins
All other divisions of the alien forces in Bangui were driven to retret, but the Tripods continued to resist, until the determined offensive of those hundreds of thousand brave men began to destroy the tripod forces. Several of the restless fighting machines were brought down by the rain of artillery shells and anti-tank guns. AfrikaKKKorps push forward through the area, but the situation remains uncertain as the tripods still haven't retreated.
Meanwhile, Cherevopets had to be forsaken. The dream of raising the Polish flag over the Kremlin would have to wait while it became clear the diversionary offenisve there outlasted its effectiveness, and the UDMS-KKK forces in that far away front would have to evacuate Russia. Facing an estimated total of 1750 infantry divisions and 180 armored divisions, the UDMS-KKK was outnumbered by the massive xenos hordes, and had to grow further in strength before they could effectively open new fronts.
By the morning of October 12th, the AfrikaKKKorps successfully surround the tripod division, and the heavy armaments firing from all directions now bring down more than half of that force, thus victory draws near. After taking extremely heavy losses, the tripod forces retreat. The Battle for Bangui is won. Central Africa continues to be the only front still not stagnated, for in North Africa the Tripods are too many to be drawn further away. The liberation of the Suez channel is a distant dream, but relocation of troops shall eventually happen as the fortifications are built over the static European front.
Control of Gibraltar means that the only safe place to move troops through is the Mediterranean. ANd thus, North Africa will eventually become very important again.
In Bergerac arises the chance for one more push. It is a slim chance, but it cannot be wasted. The offensive against the province shows how the enemy may be defeated without the support of Tripods, specially as it allows for bombers to provide air support without being wiped out. The destruction of two tripod divisions in the last Battle of Toulouse is part of a greater strategic plan. Once all tripod divisions are wiped out, this will be a great victory for mankind.
Because of one big mistake, these brave bomber crews were obliterated.
But this will not shake the resolve of the fighters to never give up on the liberation and defense of Europe, Africa and Asia. The dream of uniting mankind, of creating the United Democratic Multinational States of Earth, the dream that this war will be truly the war to end all wars, the end of the Babel, the dawn of a global civilization and the end of all barriers between nations, this is what guide many to fight as much as the dream of returning home since their long exile.
The enemy sends more forces to attempt defending Bergerac, and now the battle seems not so certain on regards to victory, but it may yet be won. The scale of this battle is truly gigantic, with over a million of human soldiers struggling for victory.
Unfortunately, over sixty divisions of the enemy came to Bergerac, ruining this offensive, and now, devoid of organization, the forces of humanity were vulnerable to a counter-offensive.
The tripods charged again against Toulouse. The defenders, weary from supporting the failed offensive against Bergerac, were in a very tight situation. The enemy was merciless and their legions sometimes seemed to be never-ending. But in this grim battlefield for the future of an entire planet, where the civilians were just a few miles away, they knew that. This was not a war for glory, for greed. This was a war for defending the lives of women and children, of friends, of everyone, of humanity.
And right into this once again seemingly hopeless battle stood the elected prime-minister of the UDMS-KKK, Kazimierz Sosnkowski, once again leading and inspiring the men and standing upon the battlefield, risking himself to inspire the defenders of Toulouse.
Once again, instead of giving up, Sosnkowski launched another seemingly insane counter-offensive against such technologically superior foe, spearheaded by the Baneblade super-heavy tanks attached to the Armored divisions under command of Maczek. They charged boldly, running through the corpses of the xenos fodder as their massive cannons fired against the tripods.
The final push was here, and although successful the counter-offensive was not sufficient to stop the enemy attack. They held the region for more than 24 hours against such mighty foe, but they seemed to be losing, even with the arrival of reinforcements. This could be the end, the demise of all struggle for this place. Many suggested retreat to conserve organization, but Sosnkowski refused to fall back, even while the enemy continued to gain ground, he saw their strength diminishing as their weaker divisions were gradually falling back. All they had to do was withstand long enough their barrages.
It was the 10th of October, 1946. Once again, in spite of everything suggesting defeat, Toulouse was successfully held by exhausted defenders. The aliens failed once more, and lost even more tripods. This victory was another very important one. Forces returned to Auch now that the battle was over, and the people who were resettling Toulouse cheered again their heroes. The fortifications were already being built for Toulouse, completing the Southern France Line, but it would take many months for the first of them to become operational.
The celebration however would turn out to be too early.
For one day later the offensive was renewed. They were sending wave after wave against Toulouse, and although exhausted, the defenders, no matter how many of them would die, no matter how many battles they'd fight, never gave up. This became indeed the French Stalingrad, except with a far more fearsome enemy than the Nazi Wehrmacht.
Fortunately, like the waves of the sea fading as they rock with a solid wall of stone, this wave was also defeated. This string of multiple victories greatly boosted the morale of the UDMS-KKK forces, for it was never before witnessed. The total victory and end of the War of the Worlds was believed to get closer at every day, no matter how many the sacrfices it would take, and no matter how many more years were left.
The reports about the status of the war effort were coming:
The so called Eurasian Stalemate finally became a real stalemate. These would probably be the front lines in West Europe for years to come. On the other hand, while North Africa also stagnated, hopefully the situation in that front can yet be reverted.
The offensive through Russia failed, and the 28 divisions there were being prepared to get onboard and perhaps, this time, safely reach North Scotland and get out of here. If they could reach North Africa, they would be able to make a real difference. Otherwise they'd have to be relocated to Scandinavia, to keep on with their diversionary operations.
The Winter of 1946 wouldn't take longer to begin either.
The only front where progress was still being made was Central Africa. AfrikaKKKorps would arrive in Bangui in 4th of November, and while the enemy managed to pull back a HQ division, by taking that strategically worthless province they were exposing themselves to a counter offensive.
Many more divisions were being prepared in Kwanzania to open a new front while the sheer majority of the xenos were concentrating in Europe. But there were at least two years left before the liberation of Asia was to begin, if not more, for the massive amount of territory to be held there would prove to be a gigantic challenge.
Many strategists predict that the aliens last refuge shall be Central and Eastern Europe, a second front succeeds in Asia. Poland may become the last land to be liberated.
But no matter what, one day the Polish flag shall once again wave over Warsaw.
