Ok, before starting to sperg about equipment, let's talk about what you can do in your orders. Each one of you controls a platoon, and the Soviet doctrine gives us some help here because each one of you controls three vehicles (tanks or IFVs with infantry onboard). You can micromanage as much as you want, or you can give me generic area orders and I'll try apply them as much as I can.
Let's try to keep this simple. Those are the orders I can give to our pixel men, and they are rather...self-descriptive. If you have doubts about anything, ask freely, the only think that I can imagine can cause confusion is what a hard/soft target is, a Hard target is tonks/IFVs, soft is manflesh and light vehicles. The
SOP (Standard operating procedure) is how the pixelmen will approach a problem, the
direct orders are actions they will try to execute at once while
movement is how they move. Simple as that.
The only extra orders I can give you are the
four mortars we have. You can request smoke or HE, but remember that mortars have
delay. Also you can specify how many rounds you want on a target, or merely "fire there", and I'll cover for ye.
Another essential thing to remember is
ORDER DELAY.
This ain't C&C. Orders will require time to be understood and changed, from 15-30 seconds in optimal condition to up to five minutes in bad conditions. Plan accordingly.
Those are the Glorious Units of the Glorious Polish People's Army, liberating the German nation from slavery under those lazy Italians. The army is randomly generated and assigned, to mimic the awesome chaos that this conflict must be.
Armoured commanders get a T55s,
tindrli gets a variant with an extra MG but it's identical in other regards. Glory Eternal to
Strange Fellow that managed to snipe in my RNG tables through
everything and get a platoon of WW2-vintage T34-85s.
What was good in 45 must be also good in 75! NO RETREAT!
Mechanized commander get standard infantry, almost everything mounted in a SKOT-2A (or the SKOT-2AP variant). The SKOT is a Czech/Polish joint developed APC, an interesting take on such vehicles. Pretty much a less shitty BTR-60. It has a heavy machinegun, can stand light arms fire, and will blow up if any serious AT stuff is thrown in his direction. This ain't a BMP (or BWP in Polanguage).
Look how happy they are. Their joy is palpable even decades later.
But let's give you the map!
Here we are. The mission objective is to take the two villages of Hassel and Riekenbostel from the Italian oppressors. The starting range is rather short, but I don't want to bore you to tears while waiting for contact. Also we're still in
deployment mode, so if you want to modify massively your position you merely have to ask.
Opposition is probably numerically inferior to us, but Italian infantry is good and they do have a nice selection of tanks. M47/M60s are fine fighting machines, and Leopard 1 will blow up if something sneezes on them, but their firepower is dangerous. Also, our opponents will be probably dug-in.
Remember that the green "units" are recon/support under my command, and will probably blow up soonish.
I'm waiting for your orders, commanders. Let's see if this works.
