I never crowdfunded it just bought when it came out on steam. However, considering that the end result - after all the patching and excluding graphics - is very good, why not?The silliest thing is that we would probably all do it again for Knights of the Chalice 3 lol
The misconception about this game's length is partially due to the fact that, in its first iterations, every single action had a non-negligible chance to cause a crash. It's easy to reach 80 hours when drinking a potion with the wrong hand forces a restart.I’ve no idea how long the game is exactly, but I’m sure it’s nowhere near 100h.
Update #91: New Module Editor Upgrade Coming Up + Working on Caves Map!
Hello everyone! I hope you're well. In the past month, we had one update for KotC 2. The latest version can be downloaded here for Windows and macOS, or from Steam and GOG. Version 1.82 fixed a bunch of bugs and improved the sprites for elemental creatures.
In January, I worked on update 1.83 and on the caves map for the upcoming module The Dark Arena. Sadly, I wasn't able to do nearly as much as I would have liked.

Most recently, I worked on a bunch of new riddles (mainly mathematical or scientific ones), new icons for items like the bolas, shuriken and magic rings, and the implementation of natural sorting (mainly because the soundtrack list for The Dark Arena was messed up).
Coming Up in KotC 2 Version 1.83
The new version should be coming soon. Version 1.83 is an update mainly for the Module Editor. It will fix a bunch of Module Editor bugs and add natural sorting of file names and other lists.
It will also add a new waterfall-splash animation, waterfall sound sources, and frog croaking sound effects. In addition, it will fix polygonal activable zones and add a red-coloured transparent display for rectangular or polygonal booby traps on the ground.

List of Changes in KotC 2 Version 1.82
- Fixed issues when pushing Control+V in a text box of the Script Editor when the text you're pasting contains certain characters (quote, hyphen, return) that were not recognised previously. This concerns only the Windows version of the game.
- Expanded the "Set module property" script command to allow setting the minimum amount of combat Experience Points. The default value is 25. You can now set it to any integer value, including zero.
- Added new colour-cycle animations for the sprites of the Water Elemental, Air Elemental, Fire Elemental, and Earth Elemental.
- Added a new sprite for the Magma Elemental. Tweaked some Fire Elementals in Augury of Chaos and Citadel of Shadows to give them the new Magma Elemental sprite.
- Barbarians will no longer be able to activate the Spirit Animal Elephant ability when Silenced, Mute or under the effect of the Baleful Polymorph condition. Also updated the help entry for the Spirit Animal Elephant. Thank you so much fastello for the bug report!

- Fixed a bug with pathfinding in some maps where some squares could be shown incorrectly as 'unreachable' while exploring the map. Reloading would then fix the issue, but that won't be required now.
- Fixed a bug with the decoding interface when the coded text contains certain special characters like a hyphen or underscore.
- In the decoding interface, clicking on "Reveal a letter" will now only reveal letters that do appear in the decoded text.
- Added a line in the dialogue of the Sharkmen in Augury of Chaos saying that a magic weapon is a +1 weapon (or higher), not just a Masterwork weapon. Also, Scaddon the Sharkman will now accept a Masterwork weapon if you offer one to him.
- Improved the display of monster sprites when swimming or inside a fog, by having their lower body printed with transparency. Previously, this was already the case for characters, but not for most monsters.
- Fixed a bug with the Party Composition screen when activating a character who was deactivated in a different map, and immediately setting him or her as the new Party Leader. The party would then jump to the character's position on the earlier map and there could also be memory issues. Now you'll stay on the current position even if you change the Party Leader to a character who was deactivated in a different map. Thank you so much for the bug report, Tom!
- Fixed a bug in the Module Editor when looking for a script using the 'Search filename' function. Sometimes, after removing the search string, the game would still display zero results instead of showing the contents of the folder.

Next Steps for Knights of the Chalice 2
Unchanged from the previous update, the main areas of interest include the encounters and scenario of the upcoming KotC 2 module The Dark Arena, new monster sprites, voice effects for Critical Hits and monsters, possibly some voiceovers, and new items.
The next updates of monster sprites may focus on Giant Scorpions, Giant Beetles, Snakemen, Gargoyles and Mummies.
If you have any feedback, suggestions or bug reports, please feel free to let me know here, in the Forums, or by email at enquiries@heroicfantasygames.com. I really appreciate it!

Oh, good. I have a few waterfalls where I can use these.Version 1.83 is an update mainly for the Module Editor. It will also add a new waterfall-splash animation, waterfall sound sources
Tweed beat the game with a pure Kobold party, so nothing’s impossible.
Just make sure you have a psion, a cleric, and a wizard, it’ll make your life easier. Any combatant with grapple will be essential to deal with powerful casters.
I’ve no idea how long the game is exactly, but I’m sure it’s nowhere near 100h.
I have 36 hours in the game according to Steam, which includes one full playthrough and several new parties replaying the early areas.
I'd guess a single playthrough is maybe around 20 hours. It's not particularly long.
Depending on how often you have to re-try the toughest encounters lol

Thank you all. I must admit I had misremembered what I read on HowLongToBeat (which is usually quite reliable). The thing is, you are all probably autistic (<3), and I am not, so I'll have to reload fights maybe hundreds of times, making my playthrough much longer than yours. My four playthroughs are 41, 27.5, 27.5 & 25 hours. So pretty stable after the first one.
Alternatively - you can slightly lower the difficulty. You know, to not be forced to reload a 100 times but only half dozen times. Don't listen to people who says that difficulty levels are only for non-prestigious individuals. Assuming you don't go all the way to easy.Tweed beat the game with a pure Kobold party, so nothing’s impossible.

But I guess at this point, I just have to play it and prove to myself (and to you) how weak and normal I am compared to your combat autism.
My honor would take a hit. I'll play it at its intended difficulty because suffering is right.Alternatively - you can slightly lower the difficulty.
I will, Django.play tutorial first to not ask stupid questions later
I savescum a lot and had to try every fight at least 3 times (often more) so don't worry, it's not nearly going to reach 100 hours even if you have to redo every fight a dozen times. The thing is, you are all probably autistic (<3), and I am not, so I'll have to reload fights maybe hundreds of times, making my playthrough much longer than yours.
Fun fact: the tutorial is harder than most of the actual gameplay tutorial first to not ask stupid questions later
Yeah, I had already read about it. Thank you all for the advices. I'll let you know about my failures when the time will come.Fun fact: the tutorial is harder than most of the actual gameplay tutorial first to not ask stupid questions later![]()

BosanskiSeljak, is your re-education class with Infinitron already over for today? You seem to have plenty of free time to follow my ass with longing. Wouldn't it be better to go play your beloved Dragon Age instead?
Yeah, yeah, Bo', don’t worry. Don’t listen to all those people who say you’re an idiot, okay? You matter! I believe in you: one day, you’ll prove to everyone that you’re not an idiot. One day, maybe, you’ll realize that a thread dedicated to a game is meant for discussing the game in depth, not for showing up to act like an idiot just to feel appreciated and be the center of attention.
Unfortunately, today is not that day. Today, unfortunately, you’ve once again proven to everyone that you are, in fact, an idiot.
But I believe in you. You matter. One day, you’ll be important to someone.

Et voilà: I love monks!Younglings, please. Go fight in a shit thread, we have plenty of them.
Here we only condone prestigious and educated discussions, we don't insult each other. Unless your frontline doesn't consist in the dream duo (a half-giant fighter and a mantis gladiator)... if you play any other melee class, you're a demented individual and should rightfully be called every slur known to mankind. Good God, imagine playing a Paladin, a Samurai, a Death Knight, or... or... I can't even say it... a Monk.
