Did Jorad (or precisely his recruitment) became bugged in last patch (1.32)? I wanted to check something, i started a new game and it freezes every time after the fight with him or moments later? I didn't have any issues like this earlier.

Knights of the Chalice 2 Version 1.33
Hello everyone! This is quite a big update for KotC 2.

In particular, it should fix the bug in version 1.32 that caused crashes and saved-game corruption. The interface for repeating spells like Magic Missile and Scorching Ray was improved.

I also made a change to Combat Experience Point awards in the Prologue of Augury of Chaos in order to make Chapter 1 more interesting from the combat challenge point of view. Please read on for details.

Here is the complete list of changes:

  • Fixed a source of crashes when recruiting a new companion and when the party is reunited after a party split. Thank you Paschalis for the bug report and saved game!
  • Fixed a bug with the unarmed damage of Human Monks when reaching level 18 and above. Thank you Paisheng for the bug report!
  • Fixed a bug with the Finchbury quest 'Ghosts to the North' when you have a Cleric with the Banishment or Turning domain. Thank you Nicola for the report!
  • Fixed a rare out-of-combat movement bug when unveiling a map for the first time.
  • Fixed a bug when using the Party Formation screen following a party split.
  • Fixed a bug occurring when a creature swallows whole a summoned creature and another creature, and other issues with the Swallow Whole ability. Thank you Rida for spotting this!
  • Changed the Combat Experience Point awards during the Prologue of Augury of Chaos to 75% of the normal amount. Once you start Chapter 1, the XP awards are restored to 100%. Thank you Fred for this suggestion!
  • Improved the Golden Cuirass artifact which you can find in the Water Shrine map, where you fight the Shark Druid. I've reduced the armour penalty to Speed from -10 to -5. I've also given this artifact a new description
with a bit of lore. Thank you Fred!
  • When casting spells with a repeating effect, such as Magic Missile or Scorching Ray, the game will now indicate the number of the current effect out of the total. For example: Magic Missile 1/5. Thank you Nicola for the suggestion!
  • Changed the shortcut keys to Quit to Desktop from Left Control + Escape to Left Shift + Escape. I had to do this because Control + Escape is already used by Windows to open the Windows Start menu. Thank you Nicola!
  • The square grid will no longer be displayed during character creation, if you have the 'Display Square Grid' option switched on in the game options.
  • Added the Level Cap option in the Module Editor, in the Module Data screen. Also, you can now reset the XPs of party members to the amount required for their level. To do this, use the 'Award' script action and select the option 'Reset XPs according to PC level'. Use this command at the beginning of the second module of a campaign to make sure that the level cap of the first module is respected, and the party members begin with just enough XPs for their current level.
  • Added a new script action allowing you to edit module properties, including the Combat XP Scale Factor and the Level Cap.
  • In the Tutorial Module, fixed problems with the tokens of the Giant Scorpion and the Angel. Thank you Nicola for this bug report!
  • In the Tutorial Module, activating the book De Praestigia will remove the book from your inventory.
  • In the Tutorial Module, at the end of the adventure, you will receive a single Red Rose Insignia, not one for each party member.
  • In the Tutorial Module, I've given a single reduced-difficulty negative level to the two Giant Spider Sorcerers.
  • In the Script Editor, improved the 'Search within scripts' function to allow searching for numbers such as the position of an activable zone. The function will also search within instruction names. Also improved the
    'Search in filenames' function.
  • In the Script Editor, you can now push F12 while mousing over 'Add dialog answer' commands as an alternative to pushing ']', the right square bracket key. That will bring you to the corresponding 'If selected answer' command.
  • During the tavern duel, Jorad will no longer use combat manoeuvres.
  • Fixed a Script Editor display bug when you switch from windowed mode to full-screen mode (or from full-screen mode to windowed mode) and you then open the Script Editor.
  • Fixed a bug with Garret and Perry getting included in player fights after they return from the Mysterious Cave containing the Lava Rift.
  • Just before entering the Moon Crypt Death Snare, fixed the treasure chest from which you could get infinite Experience Points.

Thank You, Honoured Knights of the Realm! Have Fun!! :)

Holy Mary Mother of God. The amount of fire elementals you have to fight after resting in that cave is pretty freaking hilarious.

Anyone else willing to join the war efforts to change the tokens into something more palatable? It's a fairly simple task, and the more contributors we have, the faster we'll get it done!
If you provide square ones I can convert them to circles later on. Since last time I posted tokens I think I've mastered circle conversion technology, and now get nice unified look :D

Guys I'm having a problem where an NPC I recruited, water elemental Driaghan, is making these annoying snake rattling noises when I move around the map. Any way I can make it stop? Besides making him inactive in party screen?
In case changing names didn't work, here are updated 1 sec silence files for driaghan. Ones I've posted previously (empty wavs) were causing issues like playing random sounds and stuttering.

So there's a consistent crash when you split the party up during the goblin invasion of prologue town. I thought that was fixed, but apparently it got brought back in steam version.

Turning Domain + Improved Turning

(they're pretty weak anyway)

They also kill the Spiders so if you want to do that yourselves it's easier to save that part until a little later. One thing that can still kill you is not bring a Ranger or Flying Familiar to the previous fight tho.

Since the +initiative familiar is a flying one most parties will (or at least should) have it.

Probably you have already started and have reference but here is a link to an excellent resource, the rpg.rem.uz archive, it has pretty much every book for almost every rpg:

Its too bad 2nd edition compendiums are mostly black and white but the cover art is really good and especially the ravenloft and dark sun books would be cool.

Thanks to you and whoever else is able to work on it. Im on the road unfortunately but looking forward to the output.

So I managed to repel the goblin invasion but didn't get my achievement for doing so on the "Archmage Mode" I did get the other achievements though. Has anyone else experienced this? Or am I somehow missing something? All my characters started at level 1 and I double, no, TRIPLE, checked I had the difficulty selected before starting Augury of Chaos.

Thanks for the link!
Unfortunately, I consulted with the in-house specialist in PnP lore (Zed), and indeed… All the cool drawings are from the b/w era. Gathering enough good —and consistent— color paintings would be an enormous and maybe not even fruitful task.
But I realized there's a much simpler solution out there, one we even have online browsers for: MTG art. The old cards feature some fantastic illustrations that can span the entire bestiary.
Yeah, that's it, we're gonna steal from WOTC.

It won't be as simple as converting from square to circle, but it's not that far either: looking for a replacement image in the MTG database and importing it to the token creator.
I've already weeded out the tokens into the ones that need to be changed (vs the one that one could consider doing in a distant future), broke the remainders into manageable chunks, and devised the workloads so that it won't feel overwhelming for anyone.

The problem with mtg cards is that were made by many authors and their style changed over the years but limiting cards to only some period might work.

I took the Cat for Search and Reflex (and didn’t have Ranger this time) and nearly wiped lol.

Hey it worked for Guild Wars IIRC.

Too bad there’s not enough Richard Kane Ferguson and Rebecca Guys art to do the whole thing.

Nexusmods has this token pack: https://www.nexusmods.com/knightsofthechalice2/mods/4
which in turn has various token art files from various games/oil paintings etc.
One of those files ("G" I believe) has a lot of magic the gathering art, if I'm not mistaken.
Great art, the only "problem" is that the tokens are square.

The issue with that pack is in the lack of curation and, more importantly, the fact that they haven't been named to replace the already existing ones bundled with the game.
If anything, I'd say the problem with KOTC2 is not so much the lack, but the excess of choice. Pierre simply went, bought as many cheap tokens as possible, and flooded the folder with shitloads of crappy art, and that pack only adds to the issue.
A smaller, more tasteful palette would have been better; but it's done, and this is what we have to work it.

The problem with mtg cards is that were made by many authors and their style changed over the years but limiting cards to only some period might work.
That's the idea. I'm writing the guidelines on what to pick (where possible) to make consistency easier. Furthermore, I intend to review the submissions by batches to fine tune the choice criteria.

It feels like normal difficulty is little bit too generous with feats/attribute points think Im switching to hard.

Also I would prefer if there would be an option to save in the middle of combat. Not to make it easier but getting crashes / AI getting stuck after 30min of battle is not fun (just now enemy trying to run + cast dispel but got stuck because of quicksand)
