This is the most reddit-tier game I've seen all year, holy shit. The main guy is even making the soy face on the cover. I want to hit each and every person who likes Stranger Things garbage like this over the head with a cinder block.

Shovel Knight made, like, an ungodly amount of money for Yacht Club Games. Going to Kickstarter... seems a little weird. They should be able to fund this themselves - I mean, this will make so many times over their goal. Seems more like a marketing tool. Which is fine, but... you know, smaller devs who have no money usually use crowd-funding to make projects that otherwise would not get made. But, we're a decade into the Kickstarter world. It's lost it's initial purpose for sure.

Like you say it's a marketing tool but it's also kind of an effort to tap into all markets because even though kickstarter users end up playing on steam they don't necessarily buy games on steam. The Banner Saga people went this way with the second game and said they should have kickstarted it and went back to kickstarter for the third installment.

Yes, I suppose. I just feel for smaller devs who just literally don't have the budget to even start such projects, but I absolutely acknowledge that I am one of them!! I got nothing against them, for sure - it's more just a general feeling I have for Kickstarter nowadays. Game development is tough - it's expensive, but I know I could produce a decent game for 1/3 of what some of these one's make.

beat me to it. thank you.

Gigasword has a demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1885930/GigaSword/

I had a good time with it. The combat is pretty much filler to get to the meaty puzzles. The demo showcases some good variety and there a few puzzles that gave me that "a ha" feeling.

Not a game, but choice from paperback or hardcover with multiple prints of an ink master (possibly the primary inspiration for the old IWD B&W intro, I can't quite remember).

Red Candle is conducting a crowdfunding campaign for their 3rd game, a Sekiro-influenced Metroidvania. Payment method that worked for me: Paypal>Credit Card (for some odd reason the base credit option didn't work for me)

Ex-Telltale writer Mark Darin is at it again with another Kickstarter:

This is a full visual remaster of a Flash game he made in 2005, using all the original voice and music files but rebuilding the whole thing in 3D with true point and click gameplay, in the vein of The Dame with the Blue Chewed Shoe, an adventure game I liked a lot, and I generally hate adventure games.

I expect it to be worthwhile to play. I was also glad to be a backer because the guy had a heart attack and is on permanent disability; so part of the reason he's doing this is to stay active and fight depression. Showing interest in the project by backing $1 would be a nice gesture for a sharp, funny game writer. Two days left in the Kickstarter.
