wat
did he even play the games?

cipher gets the most interaction by far, followed closely by priests of certain gods.
iirc, barbarian gets 1 whole unique dialogue in the entirety of dumpsterfire and like 3 or something in the first game.

also, cipher is easily the most story-relevant class hands down.

? I think he's tacitly acknowledging literally exactly that.

the writers found it hard to tell the difference between a cipher and a Watcher.
I disagree, I find the distinction pretty clear, just like with animancers. From my understanding:
- animancers study adra and souls like a science, they're scholars, not mages
- necromancers are animancers who transplant souls into dead flesh or objects
- ciphers are mindbenders who use souls as an energy source to cast "spells"
- watchers perceive souls and can communicate with them, also anybody can be a watcher no matter their class, knowledge or skills

cipher gets the most interaction by far, followed closely by priests of certain gods.
also, cipher is easily the most story-relevant class hands down.
So? They're clearly talking about game mechanics as in actual gameplay, and he's 100% right, it's doesn't matter which class you pick.

For watcher the game makes BBBWWOOOOAAAA sound and cutscene starts but for ciphers there's no BWOOOOOOAAA and its just text.

Hopefully that helps clear it up.

Hey. Someone needs to do it.

We need to ask him questions along the lines of 'how do you feel about the bland, awful world you've created?'

Over and fucking over.

It's gotta be fucking soul crushing to live with the knowledge that once you were given the chance to finally create something of your own it ended up being trash. He's been punished enough.

Hey, is he still in the industry? Technically working on making more awful RPGs? Then fuck him.

He wasn't given the chance to create something of his own. He was forced to create something a hair's breadth's distance from a bog-standard fantasy setting that he's been fairly vocal about not liking. Eora is undeniably a failure of a setting (and for some reason Deadfire doubled-down on a lot of those failures), but his current project is almost certainly one for which he has much more creative control. We'll see how that turns out.

First half of pillows created a fine setting, and WM 1+2 were a decent continuation.

WM 1+2 are easily the best content in the franchise so far.

1st half of the base game is generous. Gilded Vale and Raedric's Hold are good, but things quickly go downhill once Maerwald shows up, and then they go full pants-on-head once you get to Defiance Bay.

Good god man, it's just product, he didn't kill your wife.

But if he hates it so much why did he go through the trouble of making a tabletop RPG out of it?

  1. Tabletop RPG - Fergus forced him to allegedly. I think that's the longstanding rumor anyway.
  2. I don't have a wife, I have RPGs. And what he's done is the equivalent of raping a man's wife, killing her, defiling her corpse, and then giving her back and saying she's better than before.

Maybe if you show him compassion he will redeem himself eventually? Can't make a better game if he's been bullied into an heroing.
