When you "buy" a game from an online store, it's technically a subscription whether you pay a single sum up front per game, or a monthly fee for access to multiple games. You don't own shit if the service ever goes away. :negative:

GOG disagrees. But games like Hitman work around that by imposing always online bullshit.

I don't know. If you're planning to buy the game on -50% or -75% price later anyway, "renting" and playing it on Game Pass on the release day is not a bad deal. It's almost like watching a movie in theater and buying a BD or video file later.

Yeah everyone knows Steam users will pay a Steam tax after Sea of Thieves newly released on Steam managed to sell for $60 while the same day while it was on sale on the Windows 10 store for $25.

Expect Hitman 3 on Steam to be $60 even though it was $24 the other day, not including Epic's ten dollar coupon.

Looking forward to the year two stuff

Packaging the whole trilogy together is something they should've tried to do back when Hitman 2 came out but better later than never. Now more people get to enjoy the definitive experience and IOI can hopefully no longer sell the two best maps of the trilogy behind absurdly overpriced DLC

I like the ET arcade concept. It's still backtracking on the elusives but at the same time doing enough different with it to justify both existing at two different points in different forms. Something that I havent been seen anyone other than me talk about is how does this mean new ETs will still be made? With this new mode they could develop a model where a series of ETs comes out, then three months later those recent three get repackaged for arcade. So you still have standard ETs with the tense experience and have incentive to play them now but you're not waiting a year any more and can play them in that format. I'm probably completely wrong about this and they might just drop ETs altogether but I kinda think they'll either do that or just release new ETs in packs of three

Freelancer looks kinda cool but I need to play these missions myself to see if theyre any good. The idea of randomization and roguelike elements sounds awesome but I honestly want more randomization and even an attempt at procedurally generated routes, or having routes with points the NPCs will go to but randomly picking which points to prioritize and with random points on the map picked from a pool each time. I know this doesn't sound like Hitman, it's usually all about repitition but I'm personally of the opinion that since this is a new mode they should go all out with that. The main campaign formula I can play to relaxe and experience what I know, this mode is something I want to play forever

New map looks cool. I like this dark stormy Bond island aesthetic. When I was reading leaks about this map I was mostly expecting somewhere mountainous or tropical like here but sunny. I'm glad this is going for the darker pallette Hitman III had but applying it to a style of map the previous games did with SF, Bangkok and Haven but taken to even more of an extreme. Two worries I have about this map are the first is those rope bridges give me bad vibes that there will be one pathway from one end to another, as I doubt that the flowing river is something you're able to traverse in like with Haven. I hope the whole island is explorable but that kind of pathway screens to me that the island makes itself look bigger than the playable area actually is, like Chongqing which while it's a big map and well designed the main mission underwelms the hell out of me because it could've been Mumbai but in China but instead went for more of a Marrakesh in China but with better navigation between areas I'll admit despite being a freak that loves Marrakesh. Second thing is this might be the only map they do for the game's post-launch, which I'm expecting and preparing for now but I thought with new maps plural they might do three or four as part of a playable epilogue. It seems the safehouse is map one and the Rocky Spy Island is map two. Hopefully there's a mission in one of the Freelancer campaigns where people attack the safehouse or you return to it and have to sneak around killing people

The technical stuff is also cool but I have not much to say about that. Hope they patch the wallhacks

I didn't like the dark tone of the missions in Hitman 3. The fun was with missions like Paris and Sapienza.

Standard edition was around $25 for me on EGS. Now with this release, they jacked it up to $42 on both stores. Hilarious.

Doesn't this mean you can buy the hitman 2 standard for 40 bucks and get the hitman 1 missions for free, the hitman 2 missions, and it will run on the hitman 3 version of the engine?

No transfer between EGS and Steam fucking sucks. Also I knew the prices were going to happen but seeing them charge $60 for a game that was $24 the other day is retarded too.

True. I "owned" a few games on Desura... gone forever now.

I wish the new trilogy was a little less heavy-handed with their reliance on scripted event triggers and it was a little more dynamic like the original games and stuff like Death to Spies, regardless, 2016/2/3 were very solid entries in the series.

God, it's impressive how much IO has actively fucked up nearly every release of the World of Assassins trilogy. These server issues have been here since 2015 when Hitman 2016 was still being released episodically, Hitman 2: Electric Boogaloo began with the DLC fuckery hard since they just dumped all the games on launch and instead of simply having a normal looking $60 game, they still put them in DLC bundles despite dropping the episodic nature, and now just out and out greed on their part to sell a year old game for $60 when it was just 60% off on EGS just a month ago (all the while taking up more exclusivity deals than a loose prostitute would take a multitude of dicks), more server issues despite not even cracking above 2,000 players on Steam as of writing, and an even more confusing bundle scheme. All the while putting the game on fucking GamePass PC the same day and thinking anyone would drop that much for it (then again, apparently people are reporting that shit isn't working either so oh well)! So much for their prior publishers screwing things up, they're just massive fuck ups themselves.

Also while I realize a lot of Codexers probably aren't interested, but this looks like one of the worst VR implementations that have been put on the market so far, especially given they had a fucking year to improve and learn from their PSVR deal.

Good grief, Valve should take down that store page for being a covert advertisement for Game Pass.

Which version of the game do you get on Game Pass, though? I assume there's still DLC to buy on the Microsoft Store as well.

Seems to be the "Trilogy" version which has the base content of all three games but based on the GamePass page's descriptions and cross referencing what "Standard Edition" on Steam means, no Patient Zero from 2016, no Bank/Haven Island missions that were post release DLC missions from 2 (as well as all the other "bonus" content from the Gold Edition), and none of the Escalations/Deadly Sins missions they released in 3 so far.

Hahaha, 3:24 when he fight with swords. That guard dodged like he was from some old school Chinese kung-fu movie then suddenly just keels over.

Is that David Bateson you're repeatedly knocking out in the VR tutorial? Kinda looks like him.

Tried to find out if it's actually him and came across this.
