Well Obsidian's shoutout didn't exactly work black magic. I think it has gone up 2000 since last I checked.

RPS: Deathfire: Ruins Of Nethermore, as well as being about the most RPG name of all time, looks like a return to classic late ’80s role-playing games. What was it about that era that made you want to head back there? Did the success of Grimrock have any part in that?

Guido Henkel: I looked at Legends of Grimrock and it made me realise that I had never considered what our classic games could look like if you gave them a modern day presentation. I always thought they were simply outdated as a whole, without realizing that at the core there is still an absolutely valid game core that was every bit as engaging now as it was 25 years ago. It only needed to be packaged properly. I really have to thank the guys at Almost Human to open my eyes to those possibilities.

Once that thought had broken, very quickly the desire grew inside me to conjure up the real role-playing magic of games like the Realms of Arkania trilogy and bring them to today’s players. Thus the concept of Deathfire: Ruins of Nethermore was born, and from the first moment it was clear to me, that it would be a real throwback to the classic games. After all, who better to build a traditionally inspired game like this, than the guys who built the traditional games to begin with? This is exactly our field of expertise. Old-school games by old-school guys!

Oh, ye of little imagination. I'm sure he's not the only developer who thought like this, though.

Well who knows... at least the 60K don't look that poor anymore. It's almost like a feel of hope is rising.

The pace is too slow... hurgh... it's like he needs to fight for every 10 backers, while the people from Obduction got 250.000$ in 2 days. I've read that the sitcom TV star Neil Patrick, who had 7.000.000 followers, made a twitter announcement, and this gave Obduction the final push. It's like that: someone popular says a keyword and people think: "hey if HE mentiones that it must be good, even though I don't know it".

Does anyone know a famous TV star who likes blobbers?
(they don't even need to like them at all, they just need a bazillion followers and twitter it)

How about Lady Gaga suddenly finds her love to blobbers? (she may fit to the "multiple personalities" feature of a blobber)
:troll:

Haha right, that will happen. Obduction is doing well because even people that don't play games have played Myst or Riven. It is one of the most mainstream game franchises ever.

Hmm maybe Vin Diesel or another celebrity into RPGs has played blobbers.

True, defnitely an actor which had officially something to do with games is a better choice than some random musician. The above mentioned Vin Diesel is a good suggestion. How about Sly Stallone? I've heard a Rambo video game comes out, but now that he aged he may prefer slow-paced games ;)

It's kinda ironic how Guido must create stretch goals to reach the minimum amount of pledges, while other Kickstarters create stretch goals to extend the minimum amount :(

Charlie Sheen likes blobbers. I'll get onto him.

That would be cool. He's a likeable character and it certainly would help a bit :)

We need a Doom metal band to endorse Deathfire.
I investigated Guido on Wikipedia and found out he was in fact guitarist in a heavy metal band. Kinda surprising and funny at the same time regarding the jokes about the "Deathfire" title resembling a heavy metal band.

He was actually one of the guys responsible for the excellent Realms of Arkania soundtrack.

Without some kind of magic, there's no way this is going to be funded. They need over $14,000 a day average for the rest of the campaign in order to succeed, and their average over the past week is ~$4000. It was a bad idea to limit the "cheap" tier so much, too.

Hopefully this doesn't go the way of Thorvalla and Shaker but it's not looking very promising as far as kickstarter goes.

I'm pretty certain he'll keep working on the game with or without the Kickstarter money considering the fact that he's been working on it for a while already and that going to Kickstarter wasn't his original plan to begin with.
