I'm pretty sure Erevain was some elf guy you meet in Easthaven, and then find dead in the Dragon's Eye. I guess you mean the daughter of Larrel, whose name was Evayne.

Warning: major spoilers, will be more enjoyable if unspoiled.

I liked in Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu when
almost your whole party dies
for keeps and then
their kids have to avenge them.

I also liked in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together when
you ethnically cleansed that village in a false flag attack / refused to ethnically cleanse that village and went on the run from your own people.

But to be fair, my memories of the best Western RPGs are more faded (as I played them all like 10+ years ago) so I may have forgotten some equally memorable moments. I think glorious Nippon wins here though, despite making much worse RPGs overall.

EDIT: oops, I missed cRPG and just read it as RPG. Oh well, I played them all on my computer.

For the dialogue: Playing Arcanum for the first time with necromancy and hearing the final boss speech:

For teh Lulz: BG2 Minsc and Lilarcor.

Find someone rich, and kill them. Then find someone richer, and kill them too! Hack and slash your way to fortune! Woo-hoo!!

For the action: The last mission in ME2

Fighting all of the Klamath, Sulik and kids that would steal my one grenade at level one with a pipe rifle for hours and hours, days even, thinking that Sulik is some kind of mini-boss of that section.

my first trap moment in Daggerfall.

walk across a huge room, only to suddenly find the floor opening under me and sending me falling into a huge room to my death.

there was even a couple of ancient liches down there.

Awaiting-Death dialogue in Torment - getting an emo to snap out of it by breaking your own neck and then reviving is all sorts of awesome.

Follower revelations - finding out the reasons behind each companion following TNO is sweet.

Some Torment dialogues, like Ravel, Vhailor, TTO, some of Trias' moments, and, surprisingly... Being forced to restart the game at Pillar of Skulls because I messed up and could only leave by sacrificing a companion (Playing Torment with a BG Warrior build turned out a mistake).

Playing an INT3 character in Fallout/2. Not *great* in execution maybe, but the whole fact that the dialogues adjust to you being a mental wreck is great.

Extremely unlucky critical misses with a rocket launcher that managed to kill my character by ripping him to pieces.

Finally becoming strong enough to kick ass of stupid wildlife in Gothic 2 and Risen.

Finding alternative paths to the city in G2 and Risen - I loved how the game rewarded me for finding a totally alternative way into the city by climbing and exploring.

Hitting shift-delete on the Oblivion folder.

Hmm... To bring something new to the table:
- Exile 2; when you enter the underground and discover Vahnatai.
Yeah, it's also really intense when you go past the point of no return and lose all of your food. I remember freaking out when that happened. Good times.

BG1 - killing Drizzt. Took me about 45 minutes and 1000's of summoned monsters. The sense of achievement was pretty good for a single player RPG especially considering the loot you got from him.

The fight against him in BG2 was poor by comparison.

Nonsense. The BG2 fight was way more fulfilling 'cause it wans't cheesy as hell, and was more based on actual rules and not bullshit. It was way more fuckin' fun.

But you couldn't keep the loot, which was the best part. Seriously, having a kickass dwarven crafted chainshirt plus 2 uber-scimitars made it worthwhile in BG1, plus in BG2 his party isn't even capable of putting up the slightest resistance. They just get bashed flat effortlessly.

Who cares about the loot? By that point your fucking rings had better enchantments than any of their equipment. But yes, the fight was lame. BG1 Drizzt with TuTu is less of a cheese though.

It was lame but the fact most people probably never even thought he was killable (due to the fact he would 1-hit KO you if you hadn't pre-prepped the fight) made it all the more rewarding when you actually did kill him. Similar to finding the ring of wizardry in a tree after pixel-hunting for hours.

I was talking about the BG2 fight. A single mage can take the whole party out. The BG1 fight is rather fun, and I must say that time Monty got lucky with a backstab and chunked that Drow's ass was pretty rewarding.

The endings of Torment and Bloodlines. And in general, learning about the setting and characters in Torment. (I was new to Planescape, so it was quite refreshing after playing countless games in generic fantasy worlds.)
Building up your character from a spineless wimp into a powerful champion in the Gothics.
Playing with different character builds in Arcanum.
Realizing that you could and figuring out on my own how to play through FO without ever directly killing anyone (but not TOTALLY AVOIDING COMBAT, of course*).
Finding out just how many ways you could deal with situations in Vault City, New Reno, and the NCR in FO2.
Beating major enemies like the Twisted Rune, Firkraag, etc. in BG2 without using exploits or overpowered items.

Hmm, I know there are more, but those are the ones freshest on my mind.

* Ratty's comic from that thread still brings a smile to my face whenever I think of it. Reposting for posterity:

In FO2, blowing off a junkies face with your shotgun.

Again FO2; storming into town and murdering everyone in sight including women and children.

Arcanum, slaughtering the residents of Stillwater in order to join the Dark Elves.

Character creation in FO3. Also FO3, leaving the bunker for the first time ever.
