el HD Graphics to RTX 3050 6gb Mobile.
Yeah Intel iGPUs are garbage. Especially their buggy OpenGL drivers.
True.
To be fair, I DID manage to play Crusader Kings III on this thing, somehow. Had to install a mod that made it work with internal cards, but it was possible.

No one questions whether ever increasing realism is a good thing. It's a game. It's not reality. We don't need reality. We need games. There is a sweet spot there somewhere, and we passed it more than 10 years ago.

This is why we have been in severe gameplay decline for the last 20 years. It's all about tech and presentation nowadays.

Quite honestly, I don't think it did defrag. All it said instantly was done and no processing. I think it utterly ignored the command. My issue was way before i even bothered trying that. Either it was HP or a faux HP update. Odd it appeared only when I turned the computer on and it had not even booted to login to desktop.

Oh well, fucked now. Not like I've been using it much except the rare transfer of music to mp3 player. It isn't like I game anymore.
Make sure to defag your ssd though.

There's a thing with MMO's (multiboxing) that some people do and that can max out 32gb or more. It is pretty niche. I did it years back and had a lot of fun but it can be more work than fun at times. It can be amazing though. You basically just play an MMO that you like. Then you make more accounts and run them all together at the same time. Have characters on each one. And you can run a whole party that you control. And there's software that lets you control them all at once or even automate them completely. Some people take it further and run 30 or more characters so they can do raid content designed for that many people, and they get to do it all by themselves with their little army of bots.

I wouldn't play anything made after the year 1999.
Maybe some exceptions. TOEE, H&D 1/2, KOTC 1/2, etc.

My 17 year old computer which worked fine before has broken. So I'm building a new one with a 4080 super (the 4090 costs twice as much for a measly 5fps more at best) and an R7 7800x3D. 128 gb of RAM of course because RAM is cheap. The parts should be coming in the mail next week. Which old crpgs from two or more decades that need nowhere close to its processing power should I play on it first?
You won't be able to push high mhz on the memory with 128GB I think, I don't believe it's support.
It may even give you some latency penalty etc... too

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Since you can't afford to get a top end gpu, I recommend Dwarf Fortress which is graphically less demanding but puts your CPU and ram in good use.

You'll be able to replay some old ones with the RTX reshade mod, I remember trying it on my 2060 super and ran like a bitch, should be good now with a 4080 though.

Well here is JC in the woman's bathroom with all the estrogen raising items you can find in the beginning of the game. It's really making my PC sweat.
