Was doing a quest on the top of a building in a city and a legendary scorchbeast attacked the city. ~100 robots were fighting it while I watched.

How can you enjoy playing this game more than 20 hours ? Do you play it with a friend?
In what consisted this quest?
Edit: didn't read previous posts.

What is the fucking lore on dragons in the Fallout universe? Jesus christ, Bethesda.

If that metal building wasn't on your screen, one could have mistaken the screenshot for a Skyrim screenshot.

They're mutated bats.
Do you really want to compare this to talking deathclaws?
Yes considering the fact that deathclaws are genetically-engineered creatures created by scientists. In that sense, it is probably possible in the universe that the US army could have increase their IQ. While Dragons being mutated bats don't make any sense because in that universe, radiations don't give any superpower whatsoever.( And it is the theme of Fallout , Radiations kill or destroy the identity (ghouls).)

They don't have any superpowers. They are just bigger(3/4 of a normal human in term of size) scorpions (because of the radiations ) and more poisonous (again the radiations ). Bats becoming Chad Dragons measuring 50 meters long and 10 meters large don't make any sense because they should measure in term of proportionnality like mutated scorpions.

remember kids, always max out luck
Checks don't really work when the punchline is ALWAYS the same. It sure doesn't help when they blatantly spoil it for you by putting it in all caps before the actual check.

You could fix this by making "smash X object" always a possibility regardless of luck (and not informing the player that it's a luck check) or by bypassing the dialogue check entirely and making it so the player actually has to hit the object themselves for the check to roll, with distinct variables depending on their luck stat.
Say you hit an alarm box that's sending securitrons your way. if you have good luck, it will stop sending enemies your way. If you have bad luck it'll send more. If you have really good luck now those robot guards are your mini-companions until they die.

This of course seems to have been way too much work for bethesda's B team, so they just made luck an instant win button. But hey, if you enjoy it, by all means, more power to you. You're the one playing this shitstain of a game anyhow :M

Yeah, I remember Harold had no "identity" at all. Radiashun is one hell of a drug.

As for the bats, I put the explainashun in spoilers, because I don't know if Rusty has already reached that point yet.
The scorchbeasts are the result of two things. First, the US was detonating nukular bombs underground to create ultrashite ore, which made them mutatate and grow. Like radscorpions and ants did in FO1/2. Second, the scorchplague is a manmade virus, but I don't actually remember why they made it. Might have even contained FEV parts or got them later, since West-Tek and the army experimented with that in Huntersville as well. The bats were actually quarantained, but the enclave leader released them AFTER the war to raise defcon to get access to the nukes and nuke China again. Because... why not? You can always trust the goverment in the Falloutverse to make everything worse. :obviously:

Aren't Tunnelers just heavily radiated humans? And those can rip apart Deathclaws with ease

Unless they changed the way it works in every other 3D fallout they still tell you it's a luck check. Only thing changing is the flavortext in case you fail it, it's still an instawin button that has the same punchline (you do something dumb like hitting it/switching wires randomly/etc and it works) every time.

I'm curious, did they go with the % checks from fallout 3, or the ones from NV when you either can or you can't?

there's a lot of minor quests I completely missed, going back over areas I skimmed through to find things
found some quests that appear to be completely undocumented

Dunno. But it will affect "luck of the draw" or what the armor repair perk was. It's usually melee attacks or scorchbeast sonic blasts that breaks it anways. Guess it's it the high dmg per hit as opposed to some constant low plinging.

Mine mostly broke from bears. Fear the bears! They have been a scourge since Skyrim, and continue that tradition (recycled AI script and all that). A bunch of low level bears once managed to stagger-lock me in power armor until I ran out of stimpacks. :argh:
No enemy smaller than you should be able to stagger you in PA. Or push you down ledges, like those fragile ghouls do all the time. :hahano:

Oh and be careful around the lvl52 Colonel Gutsies. They again just recycled the FO4 script, which was buggy working as intended, giving the revolver variant ultra armor piercing and true aim. A bunch of them together can kill you in a handful of seconds. Wearing PA no less.

Bliblablubb digging through the game files seems to suggest that luck may play a part in how fast your equipment degrades
this might be why I'm barely noticing it

As soon as i started putting points in Luck i notice that my shotgun does not break as fast as before.

Before it was like if i was shooting fucking acid ammo out of that thing. Overall i am having a decent time with a friend playing this game, a player made a Cafe of Broken Dreams type of CAMP and it was pretty chill begin there with some players just talking to each other.

You probably slotted Gunsmith, Luck alone does not really affect it, it does affect the condition of found items tho. Codexia has 30 or so Luck and her 200% condition shotgun still assploded after 200 or so shots, because I could not be arsed to shuffle perks around all the time when I switched from sneak to PA. :hahano:

Seriously, you have perks for crafting/repairing, lockpick/hacking, Powah Armoah, sneaking... and no QoL feature to do it. I once accidently swapped out Starched Genes 2 for 1 because of that. Reading an unplanned "you have gained a mutation" is the WORST thing that can happen to you in this game.
