I finally played Fallout 4.
I made it 10 hours. 10 hours, that's a lot.

It's even longer when you consider that in those 10 hours, I must have completed... what, three quests? Four?
  • Saved the Minutemen with my Power Armor and tore apart a Deathclaw with a frigging machinegun from a Vertibird.
  • Helped some dude drain a flooded quarry.
  • Settled a dispute between raiders and a cafe owner.
That's all I remember to be honest.
The rest of the time I just explored around hoping to bump into something. But nada. Just shooting after shooting. And dying a lot, because Survival mode is fucked beyond belief.

This game is a fucking chore, not even the coomer body mod I was so excited to try out could save it for me.

I just thought it would be better than this.
I dunno, more quests. Dialogue wheel doesn't even bother me that much, it's the awful writing that does. Survival mode is a neat idea but even disabling the saving restrictions with mods, you die so so often and get thirsty/hungry/tired so quickly it's just a chore. Everything in the game revolves around scavenging for trash.

I watched a Let's Play by ManyATrueNerd (known Bethesda apologist), and the guy simply cheeses the game by memorizing every enemy placement, encounter trigger, and so forth. How the fuck is this an RPG? It's a two-shot kill FPS. The reason I dislike "realistic damage" mods for New Vegas so much was because they effectively took everything RPG out of the game when it came to combat, as having low vs high weapon skills barely makes a difference if two bullets to the head are all it takes to kill someone.

I Am Autistic: The Mod
Modding Skyblivionout engine games unironically benefits from autism with how janky and time-consuming it all it is to get working for an extremely minimal payoff. Which would explain why there are so many autistic and weird mods and modders.

I’ve completed the Nuka World DLC starting with a low level character, fresh out of the starting area and doing the factory quest early on forgot which one that was. But it was brutal. I wouldn’t say Fallout on survival mode is an RPG experience, it’s um duh a survival experience. Was a lot of fun tho but after finishing the DLC it got pretty easy as my character gained levels.

Early on you pretty much have to stay in power armor 24/7 as even a stray bullet will kill you imo

Why are people complaining about the Four Eyes perk from New Vegas? It makes perfect sense. Your character have bad eyesight, -1 perception. He uses glasses to improve his eye sight, removing the initial penalty and adding a perception bonus. The perception bonus can easily be explained, the glasses increase your eye sight beyond that of a 'normal' person. Blind as a bat without glasses, good eye sight with them on, how is this far from reality?
I don't know how this became a debate, but anyhow:

The point of Traits is that they have benefits and drawbacks.
Going by "realism", Four Eyes would have no benefits at all. -1 Perception without Glasses, you recover that Perception using Glasses. Great. You've 1) Wasted a trait slot, 2) Lost permanent Perception whenever you wear a Helmet.

That's the idea of the Trait: that you trade extra DR + DT from wearing helmets for +1 Perception. Whether this is worth it in 3D Fallout games is another thing entirely (it isn't worth it, Perception does near jackshit in these games).

You have three options

1. Don't use it
2. See if there is a mod to remove it.
3. Mod it out.

I can't get ever how bad the game looks. Not just how they totally ditched the old art style and just made everything into a kitschy 50's collage, but how everything looks greasy, flat, and pastel-like and oversaturated, and the NPC faces somehow come off as even worse to me with how uncanny valley they can be. FO3/NV's style fit the old talking heads type so much better IMO.
How things have changed that today we prefer a Fallout game made by Bethesda and not by Obsidian.
Who exactly said that?
I'll say it.

Obsidian are shit now.
Obsidian's shit now. Bethesda's shit now, FO3 is like a masterpiece compared to the newer games. The old Fallout crew are shit now. Basically, everything that used to be good in gaming is now shit.
