Seriously. They are doing a Kickstarter! A KICKSTARTER! No way they are going to make a console game. He explicitly says that it is PC. It will be, it must be a point and click game.

And anyway, Dreamfall was great. Good story, good puzzles. Who cares if you had to fight and stealth for one or two times? I could handle it like a boss.

No Dreamfall was fucking shit. It's a fucking abomination. Period. Anyways I'll wait for the KS. If they go back to fully 2D hand drawn then it will be INCLINE and they get my moneies. Otherwise they can go piss off.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I remember when I played both parts last year. The Longest Journey was for me a big surprise. I remember that people said that was good, but I didn't expect so good. A huge game, with excellent puzzles and nice main and side characters. The world has it's own unique charm, a very memorable one. So after the feast it was time for Dreamfall. It was and adequate title, that's for sure. If someone would asked me, how to consolize an adventure game it would be a perfect example. It's not about Zoe, I liked her too. But the awful execution and chopping down all the characters sections was a disaster. Short game, simple riddles, it left emptiness after finishing it. If they wanted to experiment with episodic Telltale model they should do it then. Right now after this dissapointment I will remain sceptical, and wait for reviews. And if they are positive , a release of whole season. I like continuity in my games.

"Dreamfall Chapters is not point-and-click, no," Tornquist explained. "We are going to evolve the gameplay style we started in Dreamfall. We're not going to do," he paused to laugh, "combat, but it will be a third-person adventure."

I thought Jaesun was being retardo with his dismissal but it looks like he was right. How can they build upon the gameplay from Dreamfall when Dreamfall had no gameplay? There were some throwaway minigames, some laughable stealth sequences and the "puzzles" amounted to stuff like 'take the key from the table + use it on the door' (there seriously wasn't anything more complicated than that). Running around with WASD instead of point and click wasn't what made it immersive either so what the hell are they thinking?

:decline: wtf he still doesn't get it. I figured it would at least have some kind of point and click like interface for the inevitable ipad version, but no, he wants to evolve adventure games into shitty action games. Guess he should have gone for PS3 exclusive moneys like the Quantic dream guy as his sugardaddy and not MMOs. Next gen adventure game, where you have to wave your controller like a retard for no good reason other than that they have the tech to make you do it, or that xbox camera where Moleyneux comes and touches your kids. Imersive. FFS FFS

Hopefully the kickstarter will fail and they'll be forced to make it in adventure game studio cause they can't afford cryengine.

Well, PnC doesn't guarantee good puzzles either. One should be able to make a good traditional puzzle solving game in 3D.

"We're not going to burden the game with constant puzzles and mechanical puzzles," he promised me, "we're going to leave it a little bit freer to play and focus on exploration and navigation and discovery - as well as interesting puzzles!"

Well that doesn't sound good.

the puzzles in Dreamfall: the good thing about them was they were tied to the story - there was no puzzle that felt completely arbitrary or abstract like in The Longest Journey.

other options can be explored: tablets, perhaps console. He told me "we are in early discussions with at least one of the big console manufacturers".

What point of the Double Fine classic Point and Click Adventure game (which THOUSANDS donated for because we miss that shit) did Ragnar Tornquist not understand. I mean seriously. Is he that dense? Does he really think there is a limitation in 2D games, and can in no way shape or form improve upon these mechanics the way Wadjet Eye games has been doing for years? Words escape me.

It is possible he wants to go something like the Myst series which evolved into 3D real time rendering and had the exploration aspects he's talking about.

Dear god it's happening, I'm talking myself into this. *slap* *slap*, get a hold yourself tuluse.

Why can't we have a good TLJ sequel?

:hmmm:

Moar liek Dreamfall: the Secret World, amirite? 10% puzzles and 90% shitty action?

the puzzles in Dreamfall: the good thing about them was they were tied to the story - there was no puzzle that felt completely arbitrary or abstract like in The Longest Journey.
Dreamfall had puzzles?

After all these years, Ragnar still thinks Dreamfall was some kind of flawed masterpiece rather than a giant turd.

Are Trent Oster and Ragnar Tornquist twitter buddies?

In short: fuck that loser.

Well, if game would take action after first one and say that second game never happened... and if they'd leave April and all characters from first alone.. and if they make completely new story, maybe even based on Stark and Arcadia, just new one.. and if it goes back to that feel of fairytalish adventure and exploration instead of anime philoshophy and girls in underwear on black and white... and if there won't be any action or stealth elements just puzzles and witty dialogue... and--..

Is it really that hard to make a sequel that doesn't shit all over the original?

It's like: whoop-tee-doo I made a game, people bought it and liked it. Now I'm going to make a sequel that really has nothing to do with the first game, and in the process I shall try to ruin the memories of that game for as many people as I can. What kind of neurological damage are these people suffering, I wonder. Jesus.

As for the newest game, I can't bring myself to care. Maybe if they'd ignored the shit that was Dreamfall, but hell no, seems this is a direct continuation.

Well, the only thing I have to say to that then is: fuck this shit.

So it's going to be shitty 3D pop-a-mole? meh. You won't get any support from me. They should go back to 2d hand drawn art like the original.

Dunno if you're trolling, but as I recall, TLJ was pre-rendered 3D backgrounds with low-res 3D models for characters, like Final Fantasy 7.

Since they not going the old-school way, I say let the path of Telltale be their beacon. Main female character, episodic releases, minimum gameplay maximum emotional engagment. The halfway like Dreamfall won't appeal to any group of players.
