Who knew there would be consequences to dive-bombing one of your key franchises off a cliff and jam-packing both the game and company with woke shite. BioWare truly was patient zero in terms of the SocJus/Woke/DEI infestation in AAA gaming and removing this deep-rooted layer of rot has been a long time coming. Regardless of how much of the old BioWare remains after EA's restructuring, I'd hope for EA to do full purge on wokies if they want any chance of making their next game a success. The clown show is reaching its end, time to clean house.

Pleased to see Weekes is out, Epler should be out too, by rights, he's been around since Origins at least as far as I recall and is equally culpable as Busche in taking a massive dump on the lore/characters etc and driving the IP off a cliff with Veilguard. Weekes though, 20 years at BioWare only to end it all in the midst of some they/them midlife crisis and making an absolute disgrace of yourself on social media and the products you put out there. What an embarassment.

Are people still defending Veilguard's writing with the "show me one example?" excuse despite the entire gaming side of the internet cackling over multiple clips of cringe dialogue for two entire months around the game's release?

I got a lot of enjoyment out of watching the train wreck on youtube. What bothered me about the writing even more than "so i'm non-binary" or "the bharv" were all the ambient dialogue I heard from that repulsive gremlin, Taash

At one point she uttered the phrase "watch out...they go hard". total zoomer-brain modern day slang.

at another point she shouted "what the crap is that!". if you say "what the crap" i will forever peg you as a 14 year old american. disgusting writing. disgusting face on a disgusting character.

they let a deeply mentally ill person with clear arrested development develop the most iconic and memorable character in a multi million dollar big budget media product.
It is an old fart who is trying to be "modern" and so dyed his hair, went with the woke and throwing out what he thinks are modern day teen terms. In other words, it is a total fool suffering a mid-life crisis.

For me it was that fucking dialogue that sounded like when you're (gently) giving shit to little kids. "Buddy, did you think about how you might have hurt her feelings? --- and did you think about how taking his toy might have made him upset?" etc.

Fuck anyone who supports that dogshit writing in gaming. I'd slap anyone who spoke to me like that for being a condescending prick.

Be very interesting to see where these devs end up.

I'm guessing some piss-pot tiny studios for a short stint, and then when those games fail off to another line of work.

Silly cunts can't seem to grasp that there has to be a paying audience there for something to be a success, and the Troon one is both small in number and poor financially.

Taash sisters... We lost.

The cartoony graphics comment seems a bit odd. The Veilguard sure as shit wasn’t going for cartoony. BioWare hasn’t done “cartoony” since Dragon Age 2. BioWare has cartoony concept art, but BioWare (very stupidly I’d add) doesn’t actually make their games look anything like the cartoony concept art outside of the armor that stays stylized looking but is rendered realistically in their Dragon Age games. And Mass Effect has always gone for realism when it comes to the visuals. Mass Effect has never even kind of gone for cartoony before.

It’s also a really weird comment since the big hot game at the moment is the highly stylized and cartoony looking game Marvel Rivals. In a world where Marvel Rivals is one of the hottest games around at the moment the comment just gets dumber.

I noticed that so far they fired only all the writers and editors. No surprise.
Programmers and designers can be moved to another game, especially Frostbite programmers are a premium asset for EA and it pulled them from Andromeda to crunch on FIFA before. NuBioWare writers and editors are worthless.

The only way I can see it actually reaching the end of its production is if the pitch was something like: We can make Mass Effect into EA’s own Helldivers 2.

That would almost certainly be a repeat of "we can make Anthem into EA's own Destiny".

Not really. They could still do that while having it be single player focused. Theoretically they could do a Mass Effect game where combat encounters played out more like Helldivers 2 than what people might traditionally think of as Mass Effect, shift away from the corridor cover shooter style of gameplay 2 and 3 largely had to large open environments with lots of enemies like Helldivers 2 has... this is also something the first Mass Effect did to some extent, even if to a much lesser degree. You do something like that as the foundation of the game’s combat system, and you put a multiplayer mode in their too. Mass Effect 3 had a multiplayer mode, so it’s not like having multiplayer in a Mass Effect game would be some crazy far out there idea.

If the plan is to shift the franchise fully into the genre of action games, letting a studio that failed to rise above base mediocrity in action gameplay ever since it started trying back in ME2 is not going to work.

Mass Effect is already fully an action game. It’s always been an action game series. The only shift that would be happening in this scenario is that instead of being a third person corridor cover shooter it’d be a third person shooter where combat encounters happened in larger open combat zones like Helldivers 2 has.
