Also, it sure seems Larian noticed the Planetary Annihilation 'fiasco'.
I am not familiar with the subject.
Basically, that team didn't want ot shortchange their KS backers so put the price of playing the ALpha on steam at the same bracket their KS backers needed to play it (80+ dough). The reception, to pay 80+ for alpha, was NOT positive.

PA devs have released the beta on Steam, but because the Beta was the part of a $90 KS tier they priced it accordingly, so as not to alienate any backers. At least I think that's what he means, as I am not aware of any other controversy (and frankly do not even understand why this is one).

EDIT: Or $80 for an Alpha, close enough.

Anyone planning on creating anything with the editor?
Mayhaps after learning all nooks and crannies of the existing mechanics I would attempt to create heavily tactical combat-oriented scenarios to make something resembling "fair" challenge where both player and the AI would have similar resources at their disposal without unfair advantages (whether statistical or meta-knowledge) on either side. Hazardous enviroments, dynamic social NPC behavioural systems as well as viable and varied melee are something that had me theorizing for quite awhile, too. Those are the contepts that I have been pondering upon ever since my FRUA days, none of which has ever quite seen their incarnation due to the limits imposed by one game engine or the other.

I wouldn't discredit someone's effort in attempting to re-create a game or a module in new engine. Having been a part (albiet a rather small one) of such a project, I would like to say that, apart from introducing new people to the classic, they provide a valuable learning experience that is attained at a faster pace than it would if you were creating something new. You spend less time conceptualizing basics and features, most challenges lie in porting resources and managing your time and efforts. Big scope projects also improve teamworking and reduces miscommunication aspect since most people involved probably have played the original and understand concepts well enough. Best of luck to you, Jaesun, and I wish you unyielding enthusiasm in pursuing that ambitious endeavour. :)

Cheers.

I am somewhat disappointed at the inability to increase my pledge level through Larian Vault, but I guess I can put excess money into upgrading my Wasteland 2 tier and still have enough for Dragon Commander, so it all turns out fine. :D

ForkTong one thing that drives me crazy about Divine Divinity is the wasted opportunity of the mini-map not being clickable. Huge mazy areas with fog-of-war... if already explored... imo that mini-map being clickable would make the game 40% more usable. Please make it clickable on D:OS.

Oh Yeah, i was wrong:

GOG and LarianVault will have their installers live as soon as possible. Unlock on Steam, and GOG/Vault installers are expected tomorrow at 9AM CET (i.e. Brussels time).

its already 05/08/2012 here, so i got excited.

You can preload it on steam for now though.

Exactly how many RSS feeds and Twitter accounts do you stalk? Roguey is at least focused on all things JESawyer and zhe crap. But you... you are omnipresent!

I won't even try next time

I'm subscribed to about 15-20 RSS feeds of various minor gaming blogs, plus I get emails from all the Kickstarters I've pledged to, and besides that I check RPS and GameBanshee every few hours.

I saw somebody mention he was preloading Dragon Commander a few hours before the Kickstarter update. Don't remember where.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I saw it in a YouTube comment. I'm also subscribed to a bunch of gaming-related YouTube channels and a few Facebook pages as well.
