EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'
Sources say Dead Space 2 remake was never considered by EA Motive.
EA has denied reports that a Dead Space 2 remake was in development before being canceled, with a spokesperson telling IGN, "We don't normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story."
EA's comments follow reports from Jeff Grubb, who claimed that EA Motive was working on concepts for Dead Space 2, but that it was ultimately shelved due to lackluster sales of the previous release. However, IGN understands that EA Motive never considered a Dead Space 2 remake.
EA hasn't reported the Dead Space remake's official sales, but it was the best-selling new game in the U.S. in January 2023. A source tells IGN that the Dead Space remake was ultimately considered to have done well.
Yesterday, EA announced that Motive is forming a new team led by Dead Space Remake developers Roman Campos-Oriola and Phillipe Ducharme to "support single-player and multiplayer objectives for Battlefield Universe." Motive also insisted that Iron Man "remains an important priority" and that development is going well.
The Dead Space Remake was released in early 2023, earning strong reviews for its visual fidelity and its creative expansion of the original game. It raised hopes that EA would continue with a remake of Dead Space 2, which is well-regarded by fans, but for now Motive seems fully-focused on Battlefield and Iron Man.

All 3 are the same third person shooter. Only the first is actually scary because you don't know what you're fighting against.The only good Dead Space game is Dead Space. Everything after has been shit.
Counterpoint DS2 was a boring ass action shooter that started the CoDification that was fully realized in DS3. DS felt like a decent horror game. DS2 was a cinematic action game.All 3 are the same third person shooter. Only the first is actually scary because you don't know what you're fighting against.The only good Dead Space game is Dead Space. Everything after has been shit.
But you do know how to kill them though, it's written on every wall in every room since you enter the station.
And every enemy drops ammo and medkits so the survival aspect is lol at best.
All 3 games are zombie shooters with jump scares. Only DS2 when you revisit Ishimura the atmosphere and tension are palpable.

Not really, in DS2 you just fought necromorphs and it had a RE style combat system (except you can actually walk and aim instead of staying in place like a damned civilian, to paraphrase Blair Witch Vol. 1). In DS3 you fought enemies with guns so you had to hug cover. They turned DS3 into yet another cover shooter.Literally play 2 YouTube videos side by side of DS2 and DS3 playthroughs. Same amount of action and shooting. DS was never survival, just a third person action game with jump scares here and there. The lore was more interesting.
DS3 hate is simply irrational. I agree the love triangle part of the story needs to go however. And the gameplay needs a lot of polishing. Otherwise it's fine.
The natural, logical continuation from DS2 when you were about to be gunned down by government military when you break into that sector on Titan Station and walk down that corridor to get up to release all the necros inside. And with the weapon system in 3 you don't have to take cover. Build a good weapon and you're set. The enemies were bullet sponges though. But not on impossible difficulty weirdly enough.In DS3 you fought enemies with guns so you had to hug cover. They turned DS3 into yet another cover shooter.
