There's a bonfire I can see right now that is driving me crazy, can't figure out how to reach it and there's a fair bit of territory between it and the closest I can get so I suspect treasure is along the way. Grrr.

If you are talking about a place we've seen before in the series, remember the special paths that led to Seath.

Is dex the way to go? Most weapons I find, even greatswords, seem to have better dex scaling. Kinda torn at the moment, because with more strength I could finally use a better shield.

I'm playing a pure strength build right now, no magic, no summons, no shield. You can get the Butcher Knife early on, which is pretty good. Later on the Dragonslayer Greataxe is a solid upgrade. The character sheet shows +630 damage and it isn't fully upgraded yet. And the special attack hits for +1k.

Ok, would like to nominate jailers for stupid enemy in a souls game ever. Jesus fuck that is some annoying shit.

Jailers are annoying in a challenging way. Ppl recently bitching and moaning about not being able to play tactically and methodically and shit, well they can knock themselves out in the jailer fights.

I oficially pronounce the most bullshit boss in souls games Champion Gundyr. First of all he's the worst spammer I've ever seen. The windows with this guy are minuscule. Plus only an utter idiot can design a boss where half a second of imperfect timing can mean almost instadeath. There was never a boss like this in DS1 or DS2. Bosses like the Dragonslayer Armour or Gundyr are an obvious offering to the twitch generation worshipping mad frenzy and the thrill of a gamble. I fell in love with the DS1 formula that was about learning the patterns and behaviour and as soon as you got it you could be pretty confident you'd beat the boss. With Gundyr there's no learning, all you need is twitch and luck. Fuck shitty design like that.

Let the the butthurt emote spam come, after two hours trying to beat the fucker I don't care anymore.

Gundyr was pretty ridiculous. I ended up beating him after a lot of practice and running completely out of embers on previous attempts. The most annoying part imo was the random rock chunks; even if you were incredibly careful about when to chug an estus, you could still get hit by a stray rock and drop dead anyways. And greatshields are really, really awful now, dear god. Not even useful against a pure physical enemy like that, let alone pretty much every boss in the game being an elemental of some sort. Though I was briefly considering using the curseward shield along with the wolf greatsword/dagger to troll people with the parry.

Greatshields are useless against bosses since most of them have so much stamina and dmg output they can guardbreak and kill you in a couple of hits. In DS1 the only way I could kill Manos was with a good shield. In DS3 any shield will quickly kill me in any boss fight.

Greatshields are fantastic against normal mobs tho, especially the various knights. I don't think I'd be able to efficiently fight them without one.

Seems like I'm closing in on the endgame now, cinders are piling up and I'm finding more dead ends after various boss fights. Also, finally found some decent sorceries, tempted to spec back into magery and go all out on it with rings and total focus on it.

Spent most of the evening maxing out Watchdogs of Farron. Fun times!

Got the Wolf ring, that increases poise. Full plate armor, huge ass club, jump attack... still interupted by dagger wielding mook mid air. :retarded:

This is probably the best entry in the eries.

Yes, the infinite stamina enemies, easy bosses, crashing issues, and recycled bloodborne and Dark Souls 1 content are awesome the second time around. This thread has proven that Souls are the biggest consumer peons out there. BEST GAME EVER [until MatthewMatosis tells me otherwise then I'm gonna pretend I was a critic the whole time!]

Did you expect Dark Souls to transform into turn-based and isometric? I'll rephrase my comment. It's a great advancement and the logical step forward and I'm currently having fun playing it and there's no butthurt to be had.

Miyazaki must have really like working on BB, because between the shitty magic and Undead Settlement looking like Hemwik part 2 I feel like I'm playing it rather than DS3...

Finished. Took me about 40 hours, did all the bosses and most of the questlines I could. I'm quite disappointed that I didn't come across any really difficult bosses (O&S/Manus tier), seeing as my maximum number of deaths on any boss was 6 and my average number of boss deaths was even less than 2. Regardless, I had a great time with the game, certainly like it better than 2 but not as much as 1. It's time for tons of PVP and perhaps NG+ after.

The skellies. Is there a certain enchant that do more damage to those guys? Or just keep them from re-animating?

They only reanimate a set amount of times, I think it's at most 3. Apparently weapons infused with Blessed only deal extra damage, not stop the reanimation completely like in DS1.

They come back once. When they're able to resurrect, their eyes are glowing. When they stop glowing then you're able to put them down for good.

Ah, all right. Thought maybe you needed something. I got crushed by that gravity defying ball of bones and took a break :)
