Colors/textures are not right (only used for value indication) but what you see is the wind and moisture system in place. The wind (comes in from the left towards right) brings moisture from the sea, then the moisture decreases over land depending on height, then picks up moisture again if the wind blows across any new water (as seen in the little lagoon). Again, horrible z-fighting but that is editor only.

Another week and you will have a weather simulation on par with that used by the IPCC.

Blasterhead : Which program do you draw these sprites in? How do you go about it, do you start with a sketch on paper?

I use GraphicsGale, it's cheap and sufficient for pixel work. I started with a sketch I drew in the same program. (WIP image) I don't have much in the way of advice. My work-flow for this image was actually really bad and it took a lot longer then it probably should have--a lot of fiddling about and cleaning up messy work.

Yo, I figured all the coders and stuffles hang out here so I'm going ask my question and hopefully get some answers.

I'm thinking of making a very simple blobber but I'm lazy at the whole coding thing (the last time I did any was years ago and it's very basic). Are there any pre-made, easy to use program/engines that anyone here recommend for that that requires less in terms of coding and more in terms of scripting? Or maybe if there's any source code or tutorial for creating a blobber in engines such as Unity3D?

Maybe Charles-cgr can help you out, he used GameMaker to make his blobber.

I sent TK a quick guideline for GM via PM. Unity might be a better choice for all I know but fell into GM at the start and stuck with it.

I'm interested in that as well. Have you blogged about your experiences with it?

Actually not to worry, I'll just DL it and try it myself. ;)

Some progress I guess, I work on generating badlands/desert, still a long way to go. Trees are all wrong but at least they are placed procedurally, missing details and still a bit rough edges, but you have to start somewhere.

Sup guys, just updated Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty mission pack on ModDB. http://www.moddb.com/mods/commandos-bcd-mission-pack

Upgraded some of the map visuals, tweaked lots of shit and stuff. I think it's p.cool now, yo. More than before. Not sure if I'll make more maps or not. Still got some ideas, but it's always such a shitton of work...

I started a dev diary for the turn-based RPG I am building as a hobby: http://artificerentertainment.blogspot.ca/

My goal is to update it once a month. Feedback welcome.
I'm finding Unity an utter PoS in terms of UI dev in my own (re)project so PM advise may be inbound.
Sure, I will answer what I can, but I'd prefer you ask in a thread so that other people can benefit too.

You can start a new one or use this one: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/unity-introduces-new-2d-tools.85959/
