We are trying to play this evening. At least that's the last I heard from Elwro. He has been very busy, going to conferences and all that good stuff. Also way too many concerts I had to attend so I didn't check every evening whether he might squeeze a match in. We are sorry about delaying this round.

Did we try to play last night? I vaguely remember some Steam chat and then raging at some debug thing that appeared in game that wouldn't go away. But that's all I remember. Sleeping pills :rpgcodex:

Last I heard from you was "OK let's not play on Sunday", and not playing on Sunday was very good for me, since I only returned in the evening, thanks! Now, it turns out I can play this evening. Do you have time?

THIS MATCH WAS AMAZING. REALLY. Watch the replay!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1554329/Group2_ ... Hotties.db

All my hard work in gaining a 1-0 lead was negated when Toastboy managed a perfect 1 turn touchdown, expertly throwing his snotling behind my enemy lines! His Ogres intercepted 2 of my passes. I suffered 3 deaths - my linewoman was saved by the apothecary, but then 2 other players, including my best blitzer, died for good. (I cannot replace them since I don't have the money - so I'll end the league having no catchers and just 3 blitzers.) I really had some bad luck, but I managed to take advantage of a lone ball lying on the ground far inside my own half, after Toastboy's pass to his snotling failed, and I managed to make a quick action with a long pass, ending with a turn 16 touchdown. I was extremely nervous that Toastboy would again succeed with a snot-throw, but fortunately he had some bad luck and I won. (Rating: 17/20.)

That was the lulziest match I played. Thank you very much, Toastboy! And sorry for that delay!

The last round in Group 2 looks really exciting. Apart from UPhoenix & grotty, four teams can make it to the cup stage yet! Let's see how can it finish:

myself - 12 points, 8-6 in TDs, playing Exmit. I need a win to be sure of play-offs, a draw means Mico must draw or lose also, or Grunker lose. I can also lose by one TD, then Mico or Grunker must lose (Grunker by more than one TD).
Grunker - 12 points, 9-7 in TDs, playing Demnogonis. Almost the same as with me - but he's got more TDs, so (I think) he wins the tie-breaker. Still, he'd better not lose.
Mico Selva - 12 points, but 5-5 in TDs and playing grotsnik. He's got the toughest opponent, so his chances are a bit smaller then mine and Grunker's. Even if he wins, he might not get into post-season (unless he does by 3 TDs margin, which is rather unlikely). With a draw, he needs either me or Grunky losing. A loss kicks him out (again, unless Grunker loses by three).
Exmit - 9 points, 6-7, my opponent. He's in the worst spot, but with a bit of luck can still get to the playoffs. He needs to a) win against me with 2 TD margin b) hope that Grunker or Mico loses (Grunky by 2 TDs).

can't wait!
BTW, I have 10 points :) So this has a chance to be even more interesting.

That Throw-Teammate TD was a thing of beauty. Also, not one, but TWO Ogre Interceptions?!?! LOLOL. And that turn 16 TD was pretty amazing - too bad the Ogres didn't have another INT in their pocket. And so many good casualties. A++ would watch again.

How does one defend against something like that? Did I just kick the ball into the wrong place, or is it a general rule that one should keep a few players near one's own end line when playing against the Ogres? That would be weird, I guess, but what do you think?

basically you could play stall-ball. on your previous TD, instead of running it in right away, you screen his ogres and run away from them with your ball carrier, but dont score right away. if all goes well and you keep his guys off your carrier, you score on turn 8, and he has no opportunity to even try the throw team mate before half time.

@Mangoose: I've had the debug thing too. I solved it by slamming my keyboard repeatedly with flat hands until it went away. True story.

Good old Toast. He almost makes me want to play around with an Ogre team of snotling suicide bombers, it sounds like he's got very handy/winningly reckless with them.

Hm, thanks. I guess I was overjoyed I had a scoring opportunity and I didn't want to risk losing it ;)

Ok Mangoose has jerked around Gorfiend enough I think so when I get home I'll set the score to 2-0 in Gorefiend's favour.

Which means we are in the next round in about 9 hours time...

I'll update the thread when I set it. Alternatively one of the other two admins could do it.

If another admin does do it, make sure you set the other two forfeits as well.

So, uh, Kaiserin can't play?

I should play against her, and she haven't spoken to me yet. To be honest, neither did I pm her, but I can be excused because I'm lazy, or something.

If you have a kicker you can make it virtually impossible to score one I guess, since the whole team is terribly slow. I can only hand off once because a snotling throw counts as a throw.
If you stall, like gorefiend said, I can only try it on the last turn, when ogres rarely have a re-roll left, I feel. The sheer number of dice rolls involved should prevent it. If I didn't make a mistake the odds of my little maneuver were roughly 18.7% with a reroll used on the landing.

I played a terrible first half, I felt. My formation after the one turner was terrible and even though I could have reached the blitzer relatively easy, a bad bonehead roll on my blitz would have been horrible, leaving me without a reroll for the dodge(3+) I had to make or the block itself. And I do remember quite a few triple skulls or triple skulls/both downs. So the first interception was actually more vital than I realized yesterday.

Your second TD had even slightly worse odds than my one turner by the way, which kinda surprises me now. (10.2% if you didn't have a reroll). Like I said yesterday, in this game only the most difficult moves seemed to succeed. Which made it great fun.

If there's another season, I'll continue playing ogres if UdPhoenix doesn't kill at least two in the final game, so fucking don't, OK?

Kaiserin dropped out a couple of rounds back. A shame but it happens.

Grotsnik, You reptile, when can You play?

This week, mornings are my preferable time. I am free up to 9 am every day (GMT +2), so it would be best if we started the match no later than 7 am.
The only free evening I have is probably today, from 7 pm onwards, but if You can make in one of the mornings, I would prefer that.

Or we can arrange something during the weekend.

He/she's been having pretty bad computer troubles.

Play on weekend?
