I ain't got time for that

23.jpg

Thrall is moved forward - for Blood Lust insurance.

24.jpg

And timely too, that blitzing Vamp just failed his Bloodlust roll. Problem?

25.jpg

Gazed Gondolin and fed on the thrall, stunning him.
Another Vampire will dodge out...except...

26.jpg

:troll: Must be his period.

27.jpg

28.jpg

 Never give up huh? I feel bad really.

29.jpg

Geez, OK I get it, you're angry. Seriously, he just 1d-blocked Angelo85 who is pretty harmless. KO'ed him too.
Count Dracula dodges out of Zara's tackle zone and makes a dash towards Jaedar.

30.jpg

Turn ends.
You know at this moment, I *knew* I was at the precipice of ultimate trolling. You don't realize it when it's a tight match - but at this point I was so confident I really thought of plan B: Don't ever touchdown.

Why? Because at the state of the pitch and the overtime rule.
Here let me elaborate.
1. He has only ONE thrall and THREE Vampires with ZERO Rerolls left.
2. Overtime has no end until one team scores.
3. If these two circumstances persists - it would lead to:
A. His vampires succumbing to bloodlust with no thrall to suck on - leading to ejection.
B. His vampires/thrall getting stabbed/blitzed every turn. Leading to a complete team presence wipe.
C. Unlimited passing practice for 1 SPP Generation till I scored a touchdown.
D. Me getting kicked out of the season league for being an unsporting asshole.

:hmmm:

I was thinking of that. But it all changed when this happens...

31.jpg

Zara fails a stab. But with one HUGE factor:
Read the log carefully, she just failed a go-for-it. And I rerolled with loner (50% chance of failure)
Yes, I was growing complacent. I moved 6 tiles and forgot stabbing is a 1 MA required action unlike a foul.
It woke me up from that retarded idea.

Granted, IF the stab had succeeded, I would've run back and tossed the ball back to stabby. AFTER I finish all my moves in this drive while we finish off the last thrall. And watch the Bloodlust party.

But no, stab whiffed - so let's return to reality and fucking TD.

32.jpg

33.jpg

I learned a lot today.

Let's go to the grand final.

God, there would have been massive butthurt if you followed through on that plan. Shame this isn't the grand final match so you could do it and not care :smug:.

Good win :bro:

Party-pooper

There's only two turns left for the Insatiables to tie the match and take this to over time. (GAWD I HOPE THEY DO)

01.jpg

Ahem. It looks like one vampire and a thrall will return for the next drive. All the best.
Meanwhile on the Knights' bench...

02.jpg

WE WANT TO PLAY. WAAAAAAH!

Final drive. Knights have 11, Insatiables only has 6 - can they score with just MA 6?!

03.jpg

Short kick! No seriously, I should've kicked to their receiver. What was I thinking?!

04.jpg

05.jpg

Oh, a good event. Can they capitalize?!

06.jpg

A good kick off event too, since the kick is so damn accurate!
Thrall with a push on Garm.

07.jpg

One blood pack and its master moves ahead, ready to receive.

08.jpg

I don't even think they have enough MA to TD?

09.jpg

Here comes the throw...

10.jpg

Fumbles it with AG5?!!

11.jpg

And that's the end of their offense!

12.jpg

13.jpg

Whitewolf showing no mercy.

14.jpg

Pick it up, Xeno. Let's go home.

15.jpg

Gather for a foul on that ST5 AG5 beast!

16.jpg

C'mon Garm!

17.jpg

Oh, fuck you! Reroll!

18.jpg

:x You spoiled the party, Garm ! How could you?!

Well played. You don't earn any SPP in OT, though. Even a winning TD in OT counts as 0.

Gonna fly now

Insatiables knew their game is up, but they still want to score some injury. Just because. All in good sportsmanship of course.

01.jpg

Hellraiser survived...
So did Whitewolf.

02.jpg

It's our turn to end this game.

Not going to be at all easy mind - that team is set up very nicely for both scoring very fast (1 turn TDs if required with that sprint, Ma 10 gutter runner) and freeing up the ball from cages when required (leap, wrestle etc.).

At least gutter runners can't get stunty anymore.....

Gondolin gets a level up - I suggest we take Tackle to counter the dodge heavy teams.
Or maybe Mighty Blow to kill more rats.

General Skills & Strength access does offer a lot of choices:
Piling On: If target is knocked out, blocker has a chance to go prone and try to break the downed player's armor again.
Tackle: Denies usage of free Dodge reroll when dodging our, also cancels dodge effect on Defender Stumbles result.
Mighty Blow: +1 Armor and Injury Roll when downing an opposing player.
Grab: When pushing an opposing player, Grab gives an option to place where you want the enemy to be pushed to. This cancels Sidestep (both Grab & Sidestep nullifies each other) and can be used to setup crowd pushes.

Pre-match Review

So, Skaven - Masters of one turn touch downs. How are we gonna face them?
Let's review their semi-final match against the Nifty Helmets (Chaos), a very bashy oriented team.

Nifty Helmets chose to kick first. I think I understand the intent, the Vermins weren't made to bash. Their task is simple, knock a hole, get ball through the hole at 13 MA speed.

01.jpg

Notice the Helmets' flat forward setup. I think I get it, they want to let the Vermins score early and then bash later in the half while maximizing their bash turn.

Kicked it very close to the line, GR has no problem catching the ball off a bounce.

02.jpg

Yes, I'm not joking. THAT'S WHERE THE GR IS PLACED during the Pre-Kick setup. RIGHT ON THE LINE.

As I said their M.O is simple: Knock a hole using the ST4 Wrestler Line Rat.

03.jpg

Even a push would do. And then just run in with the ball.

04.jpg

 Surely the Vermins are fucked. Too bad Chaos did not setup a fast enough safety on the back. They gotta risk GFI to pick it. But OK, 2 Goats made it back.

05.jpg

But none has sure hands. He burned a reroll...

06.jpg

And still fails. Turnover. Jesus.

Vermin's turn - another ST4 Blitz Wrestle.
07.jpg

Gets the ball clear and...

08.jpg

Yes. The downed GR still has 7 MA to burn. He leap over the goat - pick up the ball and ran like hell.

09.jpg

Jesus fuck. He tops Azira in the epic fail level.

Of course goats are on the scene for another pick up.

10.jpg

Only to fuck it up again with a reroll. Nuffle is such a bitch. The ball even went off field!

11.jpg

That's where the ball ends up as the turn ends. I'm sure it's safe.

12.jpg

Nope, he has 4 GRs. He has employed only 1 so far in the opposition half. There's 3 more. This one's with sure hands.

Goes for a pass - and fumbles!

13.jpg

Wow. Chaos still 0 - 0 what luck!

14.jpg

They even managed to knock down the rat - and make a try for the ball.

16.jpg

BUT NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THE PLAYER HAS SURE HANDS. FOR FUCK'S SAKE. DID NOT EVEN TRY TO BURN A REROLL WHY!?!

What happens next is a fucking horror show.

17.jpg

1. The downed rat leap over the goat again!
2. PICK UP THE BALL.
3. ENOUGH MA TO HANDOVER!

18.jpg

oh god what am I watching.

I am so angry

Now rats are kicking - it's turn 4. Enough time for a Chaos Cage TD grind. I think.

19.jpg

Instead of caging the ball, they went for a minotaur bash first just because he has block. And was rewarded with double skull.

20.jpg

:rage:

This is looking familiar. Lines are forward, two goats staring at the ball like retards...
21.jpg

A ST 4 Linerat wrestle past one goat on the line.

22.jpg

A lone rat rushing past the line with 10 MA +3 Sprint.

23.jpg

Leaping over faggots.

24.jpg

25.jpg

....didn't score though.

:hmmm: A massive bash down on the LOS ensues and with GFIs and shit Chaos managed to scrounge back enough goats to the ball.

26.jpg

And even injure the ball carrier!

27.jpg

28.jpg

He's got the ball folks, surely nothing would go wrong !

Hey- where's he going what is he.

29.jpg

I"m out. Why the fuck did he go for it?!

MA 10 + 3 GFI (Sprint) =13 Tiles.
The length of one half if 13 Tiles.
Goddamit.

Yes, its one place where the game balance does I think break ever so slightly. Such a reliable 1 down play makes quite a big difference. Other gutter runners to pick up and ferry forwards so just 2+ pick up, 2+ hand off, knocking the hole/dodging then the sprints.

I'd be half tempted to indulge in a mutual mega quick TD fest for all of the SPP's.... They're likely better at that of course.

The mercy is that there's no MA +1 mutation anymore!

That's the wrong kind of temptation. The right kind is just to call down the lightning on that broken piece of abusive ass and stomp it back to Gaia's vagina as punishment for it giving birth to such an abomination.

Sure :) Still if he's smart he won't even put him on pitch except for the 1 turn plays. It really is worth that much strategically.

The slight worry about playing a running game is whether you'll be able to keep the ball safe. He does look very well set up to hunt and destroy ball carriers.
