Quarter Finals: Let's Bowl!

It's on folks! The anticipated quarter finals between the First Ladies and Knights of Codexia!

01.jpg

Both teams did not finish top of their group, so it'll be an exciting encounter as humans are facing dwarf team for the first time. The Ladies may not look fully developed - but they still pack decent block spams and AV9s. A good cage by this team would be very hard to crack. Knights tend to have poor records when facing bash team, so let's hope I can pull some good moves.

Pre-Game Meta: 270 TV - In regards to the 270 TV difference and the upcoming game vs Chaos Dwarf that is missing a Minotaur, I decided to do a player swap. Garm the 3 SPP Catchers (70 TV) is swapped out for a 0 SPP Lino (50 TV).

00.jpg

Hopefully, this will force the Ladies coach to make a tough decision between getting a merc minotaur or a 90 TV Star Player. Not both. But guess what? He didn't go for that pick at all. Instead, he went for a Wizard and a Bribe. o_O

If it was me, I'd take a player over Wizard. Wizard's too unreliable. Anyway, no big loss for us we need the extra ST3 presence. There's very little incentive in taking a AV7 ST2 Dodger in a game against Tackle-rich dwarf.

02.jpg

Oh god, this venue sucks. I can't see the game logs. Good luck.

03.jpg

Opening formation. I loss the coin toss and Ladies opted to receive. If my guess is correct, they'd probably grind a TD and then force an equalizer in 2nd half, then repeat the grind into over time. So I'm going to try to draw out that Wizard Scroll. (Yes, seriously. I am trying to draw it out early. It's that random factor.)

Kick off!
04.jpg

No bad weather. Hum.

05.jpg

As you can see, they're really going for the Bull Carrier setup. Sure Hands ST5 on the back, ready to pick the ball kicked at any flank. I went right, because the other bull is on the left.

Turn 1. LOS mash begins...
06.jpg

Hellraiser survived with a push.

07.jpg

LundB wasn't so lucky.

And off Eleanor goes-
08.jpg

09.jpg

Gets the ball. Starting that all too familiar march as Jasede's boyfriend gets clawed, but uninjured.

10.jpg

Brother None gets blitzed and fell down.

11.jpg

While the downed LundB gets stomped and stunned. I guess he likes it dirty.

End of Turn 1. Now ... let's see if he fires a Wizard scroll...

Turn 1 - Knights
Jasede's BF wakes up, no bonehead.
01.jpg

We need to cover both flanks, just in case. But I'm more concerned about locking down the left bull. I don't mind them scoring early.
02.jpg

03.jpg

04.jpg

05.jpg

Also, it's time to bring down some dwarf with Whitewolf's Mighty Blow.
06.jpg

07.jpg

Down, but not out.
More lock down on the left.

08.jpg

And I've got seconds to decide what to do.

10.jpg

I figure I should just 1 dice block for the hell of it.

11.jpg

OK, got a push. Not too bad.

12.jpg

It's pretty clear what they'd do next. The left lane is cut off, central is unattractive. The right is very open. Only a blitzer and a 2 SPP Thrower on the way. Let's see what they do next turn! ;)

Cage Assault
Here comes the Bull.

01.jpg

They try a block on Whitewolf...

02.jpg

Only gets a push, Stand Firm nullifies it.

03.jpg

Ricky gets taken down. Now, Brother None is alone on the right.

04.jpg

They want him down, of course.

05.jpg

"Fucking shit coach," Brother None mumbled as he goes down to a stunty blitz. Turn over as the Chaos Dwarf's cage takes shape.

06.jpg

They're not using the Wizard scroll just yet. But now, it's our turn to assault the cage. Since Brother None & Ricky is unharmed, we can re-establish the tackle zone by just telling them to get up. While the rest of the Knights on the left can assault the cage from the left.

07.jpg

08.jpg

@whitewolf starts the assault with a take down against a dwarf blocker.

09.jpg

Xenomorph slams down the ST4 Bull Centaur, freeing his two comrades.

10.jpg

Assault starts now.

11.jpg

Hellraiser gets to the cage's edge with a go for it.

12.jpg

Could've blitz with Gondolin.

13.jpg

But decided to mark the other cage's edge instead.

14.jpg

Now time to fortify the center. eklektyk gets there to provide guard assist.

15.jpg

@Jaedar blitzed forward. Clearing a path for :codexisforindividualswithgenderidentityissues: , who did not fail his boner to move ahead.

16.jpg

As the turn grows to a close, Angelo85 moves forward. And we can see how the situation has changed:
17.jpg

Knights are effectively competing for the ball. And not many dwarves can get a good block die. How will they break out?

Bring Down the Big One

Ladies' turn - they're going to burst down the right.

01.jpg

Brother None stunned.

02.jpg

ST5 Ball blitzes!

03.jpg

Gets a push on Riccitiello.

04.jpg

He's not pushing his go for it. Stops right there.

05.jpg

One of the skirmish goes bad for the ladies and they spend a team reroll, turning it into a push.

06.jpg

Ladies can't seem to deliver any knock-downs in this turn. Good for us.

Finally they got unlucky.

08.jpg

RR used. Down you go.

09.jpg

:yeah:

Time to assault the ball!

10.jpg

Gondolin drops a dwarf at the center. This is crucial to isolate the bull carrier. These stunties aren't going anywhere when they wake up.

11.jpg

Angelo85 moving in to mark the baller.

12.jpg

:codexisforindividualswithgenderidentityissues:unleashes a punch that frees up Jaedar.

13.jpg

Eklektyk and Riccitello needs to get free, somehow. Guess I'll let Ricky take the chance...

14.jpg

Stupendous!

15.jpg

KO! What a turnaround!

16.jpg

@Hellraiser rushing back to provide additional assist.

17.jpg

Now eklektyk can let the 2d block rip...

18.jpg

Stuns! It's Jaedar time!

19.jpg

20.jpg

:rage: Reroll.

20.jpg

21.jpg

:rpgcodex: Good.

23.jpg

Ball's free. Let's get more people in there, LundB will have to dodge, without reroll.

24.jpg

Of course it worked. :smug:

25.jpg

What now, bitches?

Raging Boner

That dropped ball is going to be hard for the Ladies to pick up.

01.jpg

Doesn't mean they won't try. Hobos are pushing forward. But as long as the majority of his dwarves are tied down in the left, they can't really break out effectively.

02.jpg

Whitewolf gets punched down.

04.jpg

Now they're moving to the right.

05.jpg

A hobgoblin blitzing is probably signs of desperation.

06.jpg

Takes down Jaedar.

07.jpg

Tries to hamper pick up.

The other bull centaur can't seem to get things done vs Xenomorph.
08.jpg

Only a meaningless push as their turn comes into a close. The ball is marked by a single hobgoblin.

09.jpg

An invitation we cannot refuse.

10.jpg

Jaedar clears the pick up zone.

11.jpg

Hellraiser is making sure the rest of the Ladies are staying away from the ball.

12.jpg

Ricky now can get in there, and pick it.

13.jpg

Takes the ball to safety. There's no receiver on the opposite side of the field. Azira is on the sideline while kicking to get more ST3s on the field.

14.jpg

Good stuff from Jasede's boyfriend, stunning blow.

15.jpg

Knights in cruise control as eklektyk finishes the turn with a stunning block. :smug:

Careless Whisper

Seeing no other options, the Bull blitzes, pushing Lund to the edge before moving on.

01.jpg

02.jpg

Ok stop right there.

03.jpg

FFS. STOP IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY!

04.jpg

Jesus. He just got up from being knocked down too!

05.jpg

LundB gets pushed into the crowd, who beats the shit out of his pretty rich white boy face, knocking him out as the turn ends.

06.jpg

Shit. I don't like this. I mean, dodging Jaedar out doesn't mean anything. What I need is a receiver on the other end to get the ball to safety.

07.jpg

I decided Jasede's boyfriend should free Gondolin, he's been OK so far.

08.jpg

Me and my big mouth. Reroll.

09.jpg

:hmmm:

10.jpg

:rage:

Shit cock fuck as Nixon's bitch dodges out and blitzes...
11.jpg

12.jpg

ONLY GETS A PUSH!

13.jpg

But the bull is too strong for Ricky to contain. He fell down and dropped the ball.

14.jpg

Elsewhere, XenomorphII and Whitewolf's luck has run out.

15.jpg

@Gondolin too is KO'ed. Knights losing control of the match all the sudden!

16.jpg

Eklektyk down. Stunned. FFS.

17.jpg

Oh, thank god. Hellraiser still has that troll card...

18.jpg

Nope. Team Reroll and takes Hellraiser down as well.

19.jpg

Very. Very bad.

20.jpg

It's ok. Me can fix this.

21.jpg

Chill. One dodge, pick up, and a throw to Brother None, and we're home free.

22.jpg

I got a team reroll. Don't worry. *clicks*

23.jpg

:hmmm:

24.jpg

Two turns to half time. 1-0 Down. We can do this.

01.jpg

Azira is right at the heart of our offense. Everything is down to him.

02.jpg

Kick off!

03.jpg

Good weather. Let's go!

04.jpg

Ball's within range.

05.jpg

LOS Clearance. Bash Bash Bash!

06.jpg

07.jpg

Whitewolf nearly got into trouble.

08.jpg

Luckily the second frenzy resulting in a both down.

09.jpg

Jasede's boyfriend to mark the bull and two other Ladies. More Knights to the right!

10.jpg

11.jpg

Ball scooped, this is it folks!

One of these kids don't belong with the others...

1-0 down, still 8 turns. But if we score, they might wanna grind that overtime winner. We need to score real early.

01.jpg

The previous drive setup seems to work. So we're going to try again.

Oh, hey, what's Garm doing here?
02.jpg

Get in play, loser.

03.jpg

Looks good. We're obviously going right.

04.jpg

Kick off! And...

05.jpg

Oh boy.

06.jpg

Roughly equal. Lost Hellraiser and Riccitiello for a round.

07.jpg

Xeno can still reach the ball, no worries.

08.jpg

No reason to slow down, Azira going all the way in.

09.jpg

The whole knights basically just abandoning the three LoS on the center and slipping through the right.

10.jpg

11.jpg

Xeno picks up the ball with no problem.

Jaedar with the blitz on ST5 Bull Centaur!
12.jpg

Down, but not out.
13.jpg

And...
14.jpg

Dodges out!
15.jpg

As the turn ends, I finally realized one horrible truth about mathematics.

ST4 Bull blitzes, taking down Jasede's Boyfriend.
01.jpg

02.jpg

Parks himself next to Brother None once he's finished.

03.jpg

Hobos moving forward, trying to get to Xenos. But nah, we're safe. The bulls can't reach us.

04.jpg

Brother None gets taken down and cursed the Coach's name again.

05.jpg

They're pretty much unable to mark Azira, our receiver. Also, they're probably hoping Xeno will fuck up a throw. Turn over.

06.jpg

With this big guy having a boner, our option is limited.

A 2d block for Whitewolf almost goes horribly wrong as he settled for Push-Skull result twice in a row.
07.jpg

08.jpg

Fuck this, time for the Xeno Express.
09.jpg

10.jpg

11.jpg

Shove your fairplay up your ass!

12.jpg

13.jpg

No GFI this time, Azira, try not to fuck this up.

14.jpg

15.jpg

Good. Now the real fight begins.

 How's that possible? I've never had that bug, but who's complaining? :troll:

Happened to me a few times. It's really nasty, and can both take out a random player from the 11 as well as get another one in.

The Decisive Drive

Boy, that drive formation was so good, it's like we're playing with a 12th man behind our back.
Nah, it's gotta be the crowd. They're on our side. :M

01.jpg

They're setting up differently this time. Still, they want the ball to go to the ST5 Bull. We're not going to give it freely this time.

02.jpg

Short kick.

03.jpg

04.jpg

See? What did I tell ya?! The 12th Man!

05.jpg

The path to the ball is clear!

LOS Smash claims Garm's feet.
06.jpg

07.jpg

LundB drops as well. Stunned.

08.jpg

Here comes the problem... ST5 succeeds on pick up...

09.jpg

Backs out with Sure Feet...he's scared.

10.jpg

Cage himself with two hobos.

11.jpg

Tries to take down Jasede's BF, but gets skulled. RR and succeeded.

12.jpg

No injury though...

13.jpg

They even stomped him. The bastards. :mad:No ref, no injury.

14.jpg

Turn over.

Cage the Beast

01.jpg

Path cleared, we don't even need to be subtle.

02.jpg

Clear his cage, and replace it with ours.

03.jpg

Stuns.

04.jpg

05.jpg

Plug that guy up good and just wait till he trips. He can't escape. He doesn't have break tackle.

06.jpg

07.jpg

As long we keep the dwarves away from the important play, we have the advantage.

08.jpg

Look at that. All six dwarves out of the action. Turn over. Lookin' good.

09.jpg

Angelo gets smashed. No injury.

10.jpg

They got Jasede's BF, he's stunned.

11.jpg

The ST5 Ball Carrier tries to break away by blitzing Whitewolf on the isolated edge - but he forgot about Stand Firm. That blitz isn't going anywhere. :smug:

Frustrated, he throws more one dice blocks..
12.jpg

Pay the price. Reroll ...and ...

Bloodily Beaten

Let's bring down this bull, score and go home.

01.jpg

This ST4 Bull without block is just not gonna be able to stop Xenomorph and Guard combos.
02.jpg

03.jpg

Down you go.

04.jpg

Whitewolf is gonna need an assist to clear that hobo from the melee. We need at least 1d block on the ST5 Ball carrier.

05.jpg

eklektyk arrives just in time.

06.jpg

Bah. Reroll.

07.jpg

Finally, first casualty of the game.

08.jpg

Steps back into the St5 tackle zone. Gondolin can now use his 1d block!

09.jpg

Only gets a push though. :(

10.jpg

Jaedar takes down another bull cage's edge and takes over that position. No way this big guy can escape us.

11.jpg

Azira approach the downed ST4 bull next to Ricky.

12.jpg

:codexisfor: One good stomp and it's stunned. Turn over!

Bull-kakke

Try as they might, the Ladies just can't break the Knight's line.
01.jpg

02.jpg

The only meaningful take down is probably a lino or two.

03.jpg

The ST5 Ball carrier tries again to break out of the cage, but fails.

04.jpg

All he does is move one tile a turn. Turn over.

05.jpg

Whitewolf, clearing the path!

06.jpg

Pushed! AGAIN!

07.jpg

YET ANOTHER PUSH!

08.jpg

No probs. Plug more cage corners, get that block dice going.

09.jpg

Smack away the nearby dwarves.

10.jpg

tadaaaa!

11.jpg

Smack! Drops the ball~!

12.jpg

Jasede's BF gets up for additional tacklezone.

13.jpg

Jaedar will now free Ricky for a pick up.

14.jpg

Xeno as well, clearing the path. Take downs are plenty vs non-block Hobos.

15.jpg

Azira runs free, now he can wait for the ball.

16.jpg

Ricky will walk over n pick up at -1. Basically he's rolling for the same number as that Bull Carrier.

17.jpg

And fails. :decline:

Stop playing around... let's get this over.

01.jpg

Your resistance only makes my cock harder.

02.jpg

Ricky gets taken down! See? The moment the dwarves are involved, blocks goes to the Ladies' way.

03.jpg

Not even Gondolin can stay on his feet. Goddamn, that frees the ST5 Carrier!

04.jpg

He tries for the ball!

05.jpg

ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

06.jpg

No fucking problem.

07.jpg

eklektyk providing guard assist.

08.jpg

Gondolin, waking up to blitz!

09.jpg

All according to plan.

10.jpg

Ball's free, nothing left to do but to...

11.jpg

.. get the ball!

12.jpg

Oh shit. Two Go-For-Its...

13.jpg

Makes the first, going for the second...
Anddddd....

Pizza is here. Hold that update.
