I like dorfs for their straightforward play. Just reduce the opposing team's numbers by about half and then you can saunter in for a score.

Just like halflings right? Let your team get reduced to half by your opponent, and let him saunter in to score.

:troll:

Also, there's the fail off where the last 4 of each groups battle it out to determine who is the least loser among them and here's an interesting match between 8 Eyes and Bony Slaves...

Ouch, ouch, ouch. I really do sympathise with that too! I did have a lot of fun playing (and often winning) with a goblin team. ag 4 goblins really can get seriously hard to stop. The dodge does normally make them fairly resilient too but playing against (choas) dwarves.....

That game does also seem to illustrate one thing which confuses me a little. It looks to be the 'norm' in the computer set up to run teams of ~12/13 players. Presumably to keep the overall team value down or something. Does that really out weigh the issues with often dropping under 11 players for a given down? Skaven/goblins breaking is after all exceedingly predictable, and back ups aren't expensive.

Well, according to the veterans, rule of the thumb for AV 7 teams is to have 13-14 players while AV 8-9 only needs 12-13.
You gotta keep your TV lower, else you end up facing a heavily induced opponent.
Though there's some exceptions if you play the foul game and is more willing to commit fouls using 0 SPP linemen on a high priced star player.

Newsflash

They've just updated the post match team details for the First Ladies.
Good thing I've checked, there's some good news for us

They're going to miss their minotaur in this game. My guess is they will use the inducement to fill in the missing bull.
A hobgoblin level 3 has taken Wrestle on top of their Dirty Player skill. This makes him a prime target for killing early.
Three guard dwarf blockers. One with claw.

Only 1350 TV. I don't like this. It makes us favorites. :(

Yeah I'm guessing a Minotaur merc (180k) + Budweiser Babe (50k) on match day will be his inducement, assuming he makes no purchases.
Match day is this Saturday, I feel like delaying this. I'm not mentally prepared to win. Our match deadline is till next weekend.

I assumed it had to be that, but I do worry about the logic of it all. For say wood elves yes (you only need 2 to score with anyway ;)), but when we're only talking basic, cheap - 4/5 cost - linesmen then it seems a bit senseless not to stock up rather more than that. You really don't increase your TV much! Even unskilled linesmen make perfectly good sacrifical lambs - indeed for most linesmen, most skills are rarely going to get used - and playing with just 9/10 in a drive is a great way to get horribly beaten up.

I'd have thought that being able to field a larger squad for the same, or lower, base TV as even smaller teams from the pricey teams was one of the big pluses of some teams. For instance dwarves vs choas dwarves - if the choas dwarves have 11 with three big guys involved then you can probably have 2 dwarves extra for the same cost. Or 2 extra hobgoblins for that choas dwarf team for 8 tv. Oh well :)

Yes that's true for Ogre vs 2 additional linos human as well. Guess how many matches we've played with an Ogre this season? Less than 4. Our Ogre died on his second match and never returned until Final 16 Round started. The thing about Big Guy pieces is that he'll take at least 2-3 players (when built correctly) to tie up effectively on the field. That's when his price tag seems justified. At the start, he does seem like a bad investment without Block - but once u developed him with Block and Stand Firm, there's not much the opponent can do but suck the dodge roll or try to power him down.

I don't claim to know the perfect number to have in a squad, but since humans tend to have 'average' AV, they need a minimum of 2 backup players on the bench, especially when kicking - it's folly to play with 2 catchers when kicking, unless they have diving tackle or guard - ST2 contributes to ST shortage. So you need lino to bolster the numbers. Thankfully, they're cheap and average at 50k ea. Another factor that determines team sizes is how good your specialists are. Sometimes you need fodder to protect these guys from unnecessary risk. Put them outside of blitz range on kicking or behind the fodders. Etc. I know there are instances when I felt having two throwers is an excessive waste of TV (Additional 70TV), but Ricky can play the fodder role (3rd LOS piece if Lino is injured) or primary ball carrier role if Xenomorph is injured.

I doubt he'll get mino merc. I think ch.dwarfs have a star player they can get instead.

Lol, Ivan Drago loses in that movie

Sylvester Stallone has stated that the original punching scenes filmed between him and Dolph Lundgren in the first portion of the fight are completely authentic. Stallone wanted to capture a realistic scene and Lundgren agreed that they would engage in legitimate sparring. One particularly forceful Lundgren punch to Stallone's chest slammed his heart against his breastbone, causing the heart to swell and his breathing to become laboured. Stallone, suffering from laboured breathing and a blood pressure over 200, was flown from the set in Canada to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica and was forced into intensive care for eight days.

He pretty much kills Rocky's body though.

Besides, remember that Rocky lost in the first movie? Most people don't.

Ja, the best Rocky. Even better, it's based off a true story of this random dude (an ok amateur boxer, nothing special) who nearly won against Muhammad Ali. Occasionally someone with spirit will do something amazing.

From what I hear, Stallone sounds like a pretty cool guy. And Dolph Lundgrens' life story would make anyone jealous.

You're still gonna beat this guy though. Lol, "The First Ladies." Who does that?

Inducement 270k
1. Minotaur Merc 180k MA5 ST5 AG2 AV8 Loner, Frenzy, Horns, Mighty Blow, Thick Skull, Wild Animal
Basically vanilla Minotaur to replace his missing mino. He can achieve STR parity with this big guy around. If I were him, this is a must.

2. Zzharg Madeye - 90k MA4 ST4 AG3 AV9 Loner, Hail Mary Pass, Pass, Secret Weapon, Strong Arm, Sure Hands, Tackle, Thick Skull
This is the biggest problem. MA 4 is stunty standard, but ST4 and ball handling skill can make him a good ball carrier. If he hires this guy, he will be the ball guy. The biggest downside to this guy is Secret Weapon. He is only good for one drive. But he only needs to score once to make life difficult. The only saving grace for us? No block on this dude.

Good job he doesn't have the extra 40k for Hthark.....

Looking at his skills/spp layout that st 5 bull centaur might actually be his main ball carrier - the only player with sure hands? Terrifyingly random, but awfully effective when it does pick it up!
