Anyways, this is a game I know I will be buying unless some crazy shit comes out like they are removing stats or not having any character generation or something just as offensive to fans of rpgs.

What about numbers being replaced with polygons?

I don't have high hopes for the rpg they are making, but I think we can feel safe it will be an actual rpg which is nice. If it is 5e it will be nicer. If they somehow manage to make decent, engaging combat that manages to stay challenging throughout I will be very surprised. I'm guessing it will be like all the IE gams besides IWD2 - decent content but very shitty and boring combat with no challenge at all in the default design. Definitely recruitable party members as talking heads and porno toys for the same market of dumb kids who like shit combat.

It will be worth buying, for 5e alone if they use it just for the chargen and dev. We could also hope modders fix the shit combat and make it something worth playing.

And at the end of the day we all have a new rpg to play. I'll take a new rpg over no rpg any day. And who knows, they could prove me wrong. I know inXile has.
Even if SoD was not the level of BG1 or BG2, they did show a certain level of competency in crafting encounters, quest design and enemy AI. And that part can only improve. They got rid of their worse writers and learned their lessons about their player base.
I think whatever they are cooking up next can only be better than SoD and can turn out to be a cool and playable game.

I agree it will be a game with good content but seeing as you believe the combat in the IE games is good and posses some sort of challenge I will have to disagree on it being playable. I feel it will be good until the combat gets too repetitive and boring which will happen quickly like it does in all the IE games. Worth buying and checking out, but any game with shit combat is a shitty game and not cool. If the default combat mode posses a challenge throughout the game and requires me to think and actually try I will eat my words, but I honestly don't think I'll have to.

It certainly possessed a challenge on first run on normal or core difficulty where you start an encounter, get Held, put to Sleep, Webbed or Confused (or other 10 ways) and then fast killed by enemy.
Something a game like PoE didn't manage to do in my first run on same level of difficulty. So yea there is some difficulty in the game. And in Bg2 where suddenly enemy mages started combat with 3-4 different protections and you had to figure out in your first run what to do and how to handle it. Again this presented us with a challenge rarely any game managed to do since.

I've mentioned this elsewhere but just to reiterate: The market for decent (not "good", just "decent"!) CRPGs is starved again after PoE and Torment turned out to the way they did. All you need is the appropriate engine and a story that's slightly better than the NWN OC to be successful. All people want is a game where they can kill goblins, loot shit and forget the real world for an hour. Nobody wants a game where they are reminded of stronk womyn, stronk trans-womyn, stronk gay womyn or any other number of retarded real world issues.

I see no point in IWD2EE. The game plays perfectly fine, and if you are irritated by 4/3 image on your monitor, there is a custom resolution mod, and GUIs for widescreen resolutions. Same for PST and BG2, they play smooth and nice. Though BG1's EE was a nice idea - first baldur on the second's engine + classes from the second game, but the fact that the new "NPCs" are not optional turns me off, why did they even thought that adding that shit in a classic game was a good idea? It's like bethesda "rereleasing" classic fallouts with non-optional quest compass and "nordic choir" soundtrack instead of ambient music.

By "us" do you mean people that suck at combat and understanding simple sophomoric mechanics. Even with SCS I can blow through 95% of all encounters without even paying attention. Just click and daydream and be bored. In fact, there was only one combat that was a real challengeand it was way over level for my group.

How well did you do in IWD2? That game had a decent challenge throughout where I even had to restart for some trash mobs more often than I like to admit. There were more combats requiring you to pay attention and try than not. RTwP always sucks but at least in IWD2 you have to at least pay attention.

Both IWD2 and BG+SCS can be cakewalked. Don't really see the point of arguing about which one is easier, though if you'd like to try...

Lots of things in Bg2 rape your ass when you went to experience it the first time. I am pretty sure everyone died to Beholders at least once in their first run in Bg1 unless they got the reflect cloak first before encountering any. Also the vampire and dragon encounters, I bet most people got level drained to death at least once. And they had to restart the Red Dragon fight at least once.

Well i still play it for the atmosphere and the story. But we do need a few optional Castle Darkmoor in the modern rpgs.

RPGs need to innovate more, but half the problem is previews spoiling the entire game before you can even play a minute of it.

Beamdog Welcomes Two New Hires!
Lee Guille

Big things are in the works at Beamdog and we’re staffing up to help make them happen! This month we have two new people joining the team!

We’re happy to announce Robyn Theberge has recently joined our merry band as Project Manager! Robyn is an RPG development veteran with production credits on Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Mass Effect: Andromeda. She'll be driving planning and project tracking for the studio to bring as much new and exciting content to our fans as possible. Welcome Robyn!

Boyd McKenzie is our new Lead Artist. He's previously worked on games such as Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Battlefield, Ghostbusters, and Dawn of War to name a few. In his spare time, he's a pretty hardcore gamer, loves photography, and listens to British radio. Talent aside (and talk about talent! Check out some of Boyd’s work here), It’s Boyd’s passion for RPGs that helps make him a great fit at Beamdog! We can't wait to see what he creates for the future! Welcome Boyd!

We’re hiring! Come work with Robyn, Boyd, and the rest of the fine folk at Beamdog!

The good news is that miss Theberge is not fat, has natural hair color, no visible mutilations like piercing etc., she likes dogs and her Twitter is absolutely devoid of politics. That's already a plus point in today's climate.

How would you feel if she was advocating a white ethnostate or Galt's Gulch?

I cannot even fathom how much homo/tranny stuff they are going jam into BG3.
