So are we finally allowed to say this game resembles bg in no way or are people going to keep telling me "It's too early to tell, how can you know without more information?"
There are more than 10 threads about BG3 on this site already, one of which has more than 700 pages, and no one, not a single sane person, ever said that the game resembled BG in any possible way.

You are making up imaginary situations and then getting angry about them. But you have to realize that they are only in your head, Ontopoly.

Papa Swen, only two days after launch, might have sold FIRST 1 000 000 COPIES of his Baldur's Gate 3 demo, according to SteamSpy

Explain to me below: How much happy this news make you feel for the future of D&D and RPG genre? Submit your responses in single thread format no shorter then 10 000 pages. Deadline: end of year

At the very least it ensures that future RPGs of a similar caliber will have plenty of hawt chicks and lots of sex scenes with them. Suck it, TOW!

Where's Icewind Dale II? And Storm of Zehir?
Never got around to SoZ, but I should. IWD2 is pretty much grouped with IWD. I need go back and play both IWDs again sometime, since it’s been years since I’ve touched them.

Icewind Dale II has a much better story; also classes have a lot of unique dialogue/choices. Unfortunately, you can also see the exact moment when the cut content beings - you were obviously supposed to be able to join the antagonists at a certain point.

All future RPGs will just be orgy simulators if I have my say.

The best kind of orgy simulator: create a hero, kill a dragon, have sex with an entire country.

I'm so annoyed with this common complaint about the companions being selfish and evil. It seems consistent with every alignment to stop the incoming nuke before feeding the homeless. At this stage they all still believe they're on the verge of posing a threat to everyone, I'm only surprised there hasn't been a suicide attempt yet. Maybe Larian hasn't succeeded in impressing upon people how dangerous illithids are just yet.

That's all, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
Well, good characters might decide on request of homeless to allow nuke fall to end theirs suffering. Then proceed to murder the government.

CE would stop nuke, then force homeless to destroy government because even random homeless would be better than government of the county that fucked them so much, and he wanna decent welfare in case he'd become poor.

I assume all companions will have their own quest lines, yes. I don't think 12 seems like that far-fetched a number though I guess it is possible that there might only be around 8. Either way my point is I heavily doubt that the 5 companions currently available will be the only ones in the final release.
D:OS2 has 6, soooo.

D:OS2 companions really are structured like 4+2, the core team was supposed to be 1 lizard, 1 dwarf, 1 human, 1 elf - like on the mask, and they are similarly tied to the plot. The Bard and the Eternal seem like DLC characters, each with their own gimmick, and each with extra information and tied differently to the plot.
This looks like it might be 6+2, with 6 core characters, and two extra "gimmick" characters later? If you are an optimist, anyways.

Oh for fuck's sake just say it - Minsc will be a party member. Probably another one or two characters from the previous games as well, like Coran, who is literally living right now in Baldur's Gate.
A couple of hours into the game there's already a random book referencing him and Boo.
I wouldn't be surprised if he makes a physical appearance one way or another for the sake of fan service, but I still very much doubt he'll be an actual party member.

I hope not, but Decline likely has other plans.

:negative:

I really don’t care if Minsc is a party member since he’s basically a meme and is hard to mess up.

My real worry is that they’ll shove Viconia or Jaheira in with a new voice actress.

They already included Volo, not that that matters much though.

Not sure if I am the only one here, but I would love to see how the characters from the older games would look like in this game. Especially Xan and mommy Jaheira.

1. He's alive and well in this time period.
2. He took part in the events surrounding the city of Elturiel.
3. He currently has amnesia due to falling into the river Styx, and is on his way to Baldur's Gate.

The amnesia part gave it away for me. It's the perfect explanation why Minsc will only reference bits and pieces of the previous games, and not big stuff, like "Was Abdel Adrian the one known as Gorion's Ward?" He'll be in the party.

They will never, EVER add anyone who was romanceable in the previous games, since then they'd have to establish who was the canon waifu. Larian is too smart to do that.

EDIT: This would also railroad CHARNAME into a set ending/gender, which is a BIG NO NO that Larian will avoid at all costs. The only plot point that I believe they will confirm is that Mortality Ending was canon.

Then what about all the people saying this would be the closest adaptation of dnd since ToEE? Did I make them up in my mind too? How do you feel about ice bolt cantrip knocking enemies prone? Or the special effects provided by the other cantrips? These rat bastard cunts were around and they told me the story and writing could resemble bg and that bg isn't defined by isometric or rtwp.

How does sneaking work in 5e? I mean right now anyone is Solid Snake as long as he avoids the red cone.

Btw, one feature I noticed: they actually adopted something like the party member idle banters from BG1, so your party members will insult each other or make little comments as you travel.

Your points are why I believe he'll be in the game, yes, but since Larian has implied that there won't be new recruitable companions after Act 1 I can't imagine him being a party member since I doubt we'll go to the city in the first act of the game.
Mind you that they haven't outright confirmed that there won't be new companions from beyond act 1, but the implication that you have to "commit" to your party line-up is what makes me doubt he'll be recruitable. If he'll join you it'll probably be as a camp follower since they specifically made NPCs whose main purpose just is to show up at your campsite.

Here's the quote I'm referring to by the way, it's from their 7th community update blogpost:

Will companions be interchangeable during long rest?
Yes, at the start of your adventure your recruited companions will be at camp when not in the adventuring party, and can be swapped in and out at camp. Just like friends in real life! After the first act however you are going to have to commit, also just like in real life.
I'm mildly concerned this means they're going to pull off another stunt like in DOS2 where all the companions who aren't in your party either die or run off. While I have no doubt there'll be recruitable mercenaries the "commit" part of the statement makes me feel like they won't put companions in the later stages of the game.

Of course I could be completely wrong and they might put him in after all, but I'll remain sceptic until I see it.

You can sneak within the red cone if your stealth rolls are good enough.

Everything comes down to a roll.

And what does that have to do with the game resembling the original Baldur's Gate?

I honestly don't give a fuck. If these modifications somehow make the game more fun, I'm fine with them being implemented. I don't understand certain choices (adding a -2 AC AoE debuff to Acid Splash seems completely nonsensical to me), but why would they ruin the game? The chassis of the edition is there, a couple of modifications to spells, class features, and weapons won't change that.

Also... you do realize that BioWare took its fair share of liberties while adapting AD&D for Baldur's Gate, right? Does that ruin the game for you? If not, why would the same exact thing ruing BG3?

These rat bastard cunts were around and they told me the story and writing could resemble bg and that bg isn't defined by isometric or rtwp.
Yeah, I remember vividly when Swen came up and said "the writing of BG3 will be very similar to how you remember the original Baldur's Gate".

I think what will happen is that the Origin Characters are the only "Protagonist" party members, whilst the rest will be "regular" NPCs.

That's certainly another possibility I hadn't thought of, although I can't really imagine them doing it.
Considering how fond they seem to be of their Origin Character system it seems weird that they'd put in all the effort to create a party member only to neglect what arguably is one of the trademark features for their games.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, they're fond of it... and right now a shit ton of players are apparently telling them "those people suck".

To be fair those complaints are for entirely different reasons. The ones complaining are upset because some of the party members currently available in the game act abrasive or almost outright hostile towards you, not because they are Origin Characters™
