Graphics aren't good, writing isn't good, story (probably) isn't good.... So honest question - what do you have left? How is the combat? I only see a bunch of particle effects and numbers, you can barely see what's going on
You can't have a good story if the writing is bad, at that point it's just a writing prompt with a bunch of plot points.

The Outer Worlds was also filled with excessive amounts of teal/brown/purple, but at least they didn't have broccoli heads and rejected Vulpera designs. Disgusting.

Bruh you can't kill all the NPCs in this game. No more universal character death. Your weapons don't even connect with the NPCs in towns like guards and stuff. Sawyer gave a whole fucking talk about the importance of UCD.

Looks like Skyrim total conversion mod made by Ubisoft
In Skyrim you could attack guards, kill NPCs (the NPCs could move), the NPCs would react to you stealing things, and you weren't forced to have a fish faggotnigger companion. Vanilla Skyrim back in 2011 had better art direction, face animations, much better UI, generally looked better, and definitely had more RPG elements. What Skyrim also had: spider webs that you were trusted to destroy without the game showing you a "Destroy the spiderweb" icon on the spider web.

Too many people here are so jaded by life and its circumstances that nothing will ever be good enough.

It's quite sad, really.
While I agree with this, much of the industry deserves the criticism and the cynicism is often justified. I would have preferred they go after an actual Elder Scrolls contender in this instance. The first trailer looked ambitious with a much better art style.

They pulled back and then asked $70 anyway.

I would disagree. I play older games all the time and the difference in quality is really stunning despite the technical limitations. Newer games tend to just be terrible in the places that matter - story, writing, atmosphere, pacing, challenge - with a few exceptions that are justifiably celebrated.

Skyrim has trash UI, everyone is using skyui.

Doesn't help that this piece of turd is 70 GB too.
It's frankly hilarious that this costs 70 euros lol
I meant Gigabytes. It's a 70 GB download.
75 GB, and 90 Euro for early access.

But frankly for employed people from middle class and above, this is easy to pay fee. I expect games to rise to 120 Euro prices within 5 years. (Remember salaries in game development grew significantly when you look at salaries in normal AA companies and calculate salaries as fy 2000 USD. Young people who grew up in cellphone culture don't want to work for peanuts even if they have skills of monkeys.)

This is game is like a schoolbook on how not to do an RPG. Did Tim Cain make that video on the subject on purpose? I already know he has it for Patel.

They've gutted any RPG system they've supposedly implemented, combined it with atrocious graphics and animations, inauthentic VO.

Exactly what I called "the Patel Nine-to-Five school of RPG design".

Stick to Bethesda games, because NPC schedules have never been important to the Black Isle/Bioware/Troika/Obsidian school of design. They focus on narrative, not "living" worlds.
maybe back in the good old days they focused on narrative.

The stuff growing out of peoples faces made me feel uneasy, and the more I watched of the game the more repulsed I felt until I started to feel quite faint. I then woke up in the back of a Chinese laundry and they just would not stop screaming, so I made my way back home. I don't think I'll be playing this game, which is a shame as I thought it looked quite interesting when it was announced :(

The graphics aren't good.

The art style is quite frankly, probably downright offensive to a lot of people.

Imagine being the art director for this. Speaking of which, where did he go? Did Feargus black bag him?
I believe his dream was to get replaced by his wifes black boyfriend so he could live in the woods or something.

Hi.

Gosh it has arrived and it clearly shows on the Steam top games chart as Avowed has moved up to #3 in the ranking after many early on thought it was already down and out for the count but your continued support has shown many a detractor that Eora is alive and well with the Pillars of Eternity community. I took a moment to put together all of the Avowed Achievements you will be able to unlock during your adventure in The Living Lands so feel free to use this on the home page Infinitron in your mention of the release but you should also consider putting reviews in order based on their numerical scores rather than their alphabetical outlet names for the next game because numbers are easier to sort through with a glance but I too thought this was a job you got paid to do on the Codex but low and behold to my surprise you do this after your day job that is dedication to the community so thank-you okay? Okay! :salute:

Due to the large number of achievements you will be able to unlock and the length of the image I have put it in a handy spoiler tag (and to also not spoil many of you who are embarking on your first adventure).

Thanks,
Sherry

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Obsidian, like many others, has long been just a brand that no longer represents anything of the collective imagination of what it once was (and certainly no longer is). Not that it was needed, but I think this latest abomination seals the deal on this concept that should now be evident to anyone. As far as I'm concerned, these "games" (which are actually political manifestos, not even very disguised) don't even exist, and I wouldn't get near them even if I were paid to do so, let alone having to waste ridiculous sums like the ones they ask for.

Artistic direction? LOL.

I am curious to see how Avowed stacks up in the tedious looting department. Can it compete with Baldurs Gate 3?

They must be seriously delusional if they think this is worth 70 Euro. They have to pay me to play it and even then I'd have to consider it.

Saw a review detailing one of the companion quests for the fish guy in which you help him realize he’s a gay fish or something along those lines. Didn’t Outer Worlds have a similar quest?
