Wow, you can kill children with Diablo the Party Member, while robbing the Bank of Tarant and thus make inpact on Montague/Capuleti saga?

Without bothering to go through this survey (which is kinda meaningless IMO), i say:
I'm in! :D

And yes, Arcanum is installed right now, but i haven't touched it in a year or so. This shit might be the reason to do so.

Up way, way past my bedtime.
Project: Eternity
1. Yes.
2. Original
3. No, but I recently reformatted, so it probably will be eventually.
4. Not if it's a good one.
5. If it's good, yes.

I've never been a huge fan of the Devil or child killing, even in RP fantasy settings, but I'm still interested in a well-made Arcanum mod. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. Good luck!

1. Yes.
2. Warez, I missed the boat and it was no longer on sale (new).
3. Yes
4. No idea, what's your schedule like, do you intend on living forever?
5. Depends what year it gets released and whether TA and Codex are still around... I probably wouldn't be interested as arcanum pissed me off in too many ways (combat, bugs, etc).

first of all, i have around 3 years to work on this thing..keep in mind that i am also currently working on a footmen map for TFT, so i will be busy with other things..

the second thing...i was also worried about this. exactly how stable are these websites? will they still be here in 2+ years?

Do you have a website or permanent eResidence where I could go for updates?

1.Yes.
2.Rented it 5 years ago, downloaded it 1 year ago.
3.Was, until 3 months ago.
4.It's up to you.
5.I would.

Your mod looks interesting. I'm sure most people in the codex, including me, and a lot of crpg players generally would like to see a good Arcanum mod.

Looks good, put some decent thievery quests too if you can. One of the things I disliked about the original Arcanum was that the thieves quests could be done by most wizards or rich scientists. I'm interested in playing as female halflings/gnomes too, will they be able to use armor? There's a mod out there that lets you play as them too but they can't use armor because they don't have sprites for that, and I think they could only fight with daggers or with no weapons.

If you have the patience and conviction to finish this, I'll play your mod based simply on your persistence.

Also, if you do make a major mod for Arcanum that's actually worth playing, you'll pretty much have the market cornered :)

working on that right now

Looks good, put some decent thievery quests too if you can. One of the things I disliked about the original Arcanum was that the thieves quests could be done by most wizards or rich scientists.

this is also something i disliked from the original arcanum. mages could basically do anything in the game while other classes were limited by skills. I am working on quite a few quests that cannot be completed if you are not a thief. for one, you have to prowl through Prince Escalus' castle where level 50 guards walk in packs of eight. If a mage with low prowling and a huge party goes in, he'll be detected and torn to shreds (and no, even with Worthless Mutt you will not kill them)

I'm interested in playing as female halflings/gnomes too, will they be able to use armor? There's a mod out there that lets you play as them too but they can't use armor because they don't have sprites for that, and I think they could only fight with daggers or with no weapons.

see, making sprites for them would be possible, but look at the obstacles:

1.the file extension .ART used for sprites, cannot be opened and edited without the correct program. The only app (to my knowledge) that can successfully do this is Redview which is in Russian. http://arcanumclub.ru/ <-- an active arcanum modding site....in Russian. If someone could point me to the downloads page i'd be really great ful.

2. there are literally thousands of sprites for just one character model. These aren't done for the gnome and halfling females. I would have to make the sprites for Dark Barbarian Armor/small arcane armor/ everything else looking sideways, front, back, diagonal, fighting to the left, fighting to the right, casting harm, casting polymorph, etc...... and all that work for only one armor. That's around 500+ sprites per armor.

so yea...basically it's a dagger and that's it :P

BUT look what i found
this is from the game code that lists the items:

{8134}{NO GOOD}Small Ladies City Dweller Clothes
{8135}{NO GOOD}Small Ladies City Dweller Clothes
{8137}{NO GOOD}Small Ladies Smoking Jacket
{8138}{NO GOOD}Large Ladies Smoking Jacket
{8140}{NO GOOD}Small Ladyservants Clothes
{8141}{NO GOOD}Large Ladyservants Clothes
{8143}{NO GOOD}Small Ladies Rustic Finery
{8144}{NO GOOD}Large Ladies Rustic Finery

looks like we would have seen female everything's if they hadn't been rushed by sierra. Troika wrote NO GOOD before each small/big female item..i wonder if that means they didn't complete the models, or sprites don't exist for them, or they just haven't been implemented yet. I, for one, hope it is the latter. If i manage to find these items, i have no problem adding them to the game.

Unfortunately, the German bargain-bin reedition you can still see being sold from time to time doesn't have the big printed manual iirc.

Hmm... what about female dwarves? They could use the same sprites as the males  .

The city "Verona" from the play write "Romeo and Juliet" will be visitable and will feature quests that test your loyalty -- either to the Capulets, or the Montagues. Or maybe stay neutral?

nono. i know this guy called shota in real life, and hes Russian. i like the name because where i'm from, it means "boot". Shernokavich is just a random eastern name.

in other words, it's just my alias for the net.

and LOL i already said i was adding Verona in the first page :P

don't worry, it stays true to the arcanum theme, just a bit more grimy.
