Make My Day - A recovered C64 game and an unheard Matt Gray tune appears!

As so many of you are aware by now we love Retro games, especially games that have been lost into the ages and through these modern times have finally been recovered for many of us to enjoy. This is especially true for games such as Microfair Madness and even Daffy Duck And The Great Paint Caper. Thankfully more games are being recovered, as thanks to a heads up from GamesThatWerent, we now know that 'Make My Day', which was intended for release in 1988, has been made available!

Magica - A rather lovely Amstrad game is now available for the Amiga

Reidrac ( Juan J Martinez ) who is one of our favorite homebrew developers on an 8bit system has appeared in our news feeds again, but this time instead of another 8bit homebrew, he has announced that his lovely game of 'Magica' which was available for the Amstrad, has now been released for the Amiga by Andy Noble. This game from the Amstrad description, is a multi level single screen arcade game, with similar stun and hit mechanics to that of other great games such as Bubble Bobble and Snow Bros, while also having the developers own unique blend of great graphics and fun for all gameplay.

The Shadows of Sergoth - A glorious work in progress Amiga Dungeon Crawler gets a demo

How time flies as it felt like it was only just yesterday that I had the pleasure of playing the high quality dungeon crawler that was released on the Amstrad CPC 6128; An inspiration to all those great first person grid based dungeon crawlers such as Eye of the Beholder or Dungeon Master. Well once again I'm in disbelief, as today we've just been told the upcoming Amiga conversion of that great homebrew crawler, has got its first Amiga demo released via Double Sided Games.

The Fall of the Black Mage for VIC-20 (PREVIEW)

On the off-chance that you don't already know this; let me tell you about a very talented Finnish guy called Petri Häkkinen (@petrih3 on Twitter). Petri is developing a dungeon crawler for the VIC-20 (yes that's correct!) called The Fall of the Black Mage. What I have seen so far looks very promising and this game might turn in to something really special.

Petri is no stranger to making dungeon crawlers as he worked as a designer and programmer on Legend of Grimrock, a modern classic which we all know and love! He also made Bloodfest for Amiga in 1995.

It's apparent just from looking at the screenshots that The Fall of the Black Mage draw inspiration from the excellent SSI Gold Box games such as Dark Queen of Krynn and Pool of Radiance. If you ever needed a reason to get a VIC-20 this would be the one.

There hasn't been any mention of a planned release date yet and I have a feeling there is quite a lot of work that remains to be done. In any case - I will be impatiently waiting right here in the shadows - clasping my purse of shiny coins. This might be a great time to start looking for a VIC-20 :)

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
My time to play anything, AAA or whatever, has been seriously compromised lately. I don't see a letup until late January. The good news is that it has made me more selective in my games for relaxation. I was just messing around with a couple of different Amiga emulators looking for one with a scaler (or if it was even possible) and eventually found myself at Retro32 where they have a list of Amiga Christmas games.

Started playing Holiday Lemmings - damn. This game is really is from a different time. Just a great experience - humorous animations and simple but engaging game-play. Out of all the Amiga games, the Lemmings series stands way out as just pure fun to play.
