Is fixing the smelter the only way to join Aurelians or do I just need a positive rep?
When you see the maadoran guy about the map, you'll get drawn to have a chat. At this point you can offer your services and become an Aurelian praetor. Probably needs a decent rep.

i think that the quest "noblesse oblige" is broken. i´ve just talked with lord darganus and told me to pay a visit to berengarius. But the journal doesn´t update and still tells me to talk with darganus. anybody with this problem?

If you're woking for Commercium (Strabos) you can betray them and tell on them to Gaelius but you won't get the "Darius Tomb" location IIRC. As an assassin you can betray your guild and go with the spy and there are some more but I don't remember.

Another way is when you are a Daratan praetor. When you visit him, you will see two suspicious guys inside the palace. If you kill them, your reputation will go up to the roof. If you keep obeying his orders successfully, he will make you his praetor.

You need to be guildless for that or an assassin IIRC.

I think that his house also have a guard near the door. I don't remember if it is closed or not. Keep looking.

Per 8 is needed if you want to be a god. Otherwise it's entirely skippable I think.

Dude, do you want to be a fighter? Try one of the builds posted here. Do you want a talker that can reveal most of the content? You need at least INT 7 CON 7 PER 8. Use one of these builds and go try for yourself, otherwise you will never learn.

Wait
Is it not possible to craft 'special' and scoped crossbows ?

I just got to Maadoran and the only schematics I have are for the standard, heavy and hand xbows.

No custom repeating ones, etc. ?

Kinda a disappointment if this is the case

Totally. Together with the lack of crafting for leather armor. At least you can buy a scoped crossbow at the market.

What are you talking about? Leather armor schematics are readily available from any blacksmith.

I know, but you have five types of metal and only two types of leather. That is without mentioning the different techniques you can apply in the first, but not in the later. That is a big difference.

Dude - I don't! It is the most simple way, which doesn't require too much work and asking around.
What I want isn't a talker (which has the same difficulty), isn't a fighter - it is a hybrid.

So earlier someone said about joining different guilds.
Is it possible for one town or it is just - "one town-one guild, another town - another guild"?

Hybrid: 4 str, 6 Dex 6 Con 9 per 9 int 5 cha. Feel free to drop per and int a point if you want more dex.

Take Xbow, alchemy, dodge, and vs for combat, but not too much. Maybe a total of 5 in Xbows by the end of maadoran. Use fire, poison, and acid to win fights. If you boost dex by 2, maybe go bows and just kite everyone while they hobble around.

Con is at 6 so you can upgrade with 8 lore later if you want to some of the high con check paths.

The easier option is a talker playtrough. The medium difficulty is a fighter playtrough. The super-hardest option is the hybrid. You can also betray your factions, but it is too complicated for a first timer.

Guys, vote on Goral's list at GOG to increase the awareness about the game:

Since AoD will be on GOG there's a good way to promote it, i.e. you can createa custom list of games so that people who look for one game will be recommended other games that are similar in some way. The only problem here is that for a list to be visible it needs to have enough votes, otherwise it might stay buried, especially when a game is popular (so including something like Planescape Torment will make your list invisible there unless you get like 500 votes).

Fenix just play the damn game. half an hour will answer all your questions.
It's not only Fenix. I've noticed that a significant amount of codex players are asking way too many questions instead of playing the game themselves. I know that not everyone has the time to check all the paths themselves but it's not like they have to do it this weekend (or even this month). This is one of the reasons we get games like Fallout 3 and the like where everything is on autopilot. :decline:

Maybe it's just me but when you read a solution in some walkthrough it spoils the fun.

Having some trouble with my drifter lore guy near the end, maybe somebody can help:
  • How do I find the arch again? I had it last playthough, but I can't seem to glean its location from the library now.
  • Has anybody been able to get into Inferiae? Both of my playthroughs so far have failed a CHA check and I just get escorted out of town
  • Where do you buy the mechanical eye? I've been scouring the temple district, hope I didn't miss something obvious
  • In August, VD mentioned "an explorer way past Hermon (long overdue)" and "a trading check with Hermon", have these been implemented in the release? Right now it seems like I'm tacking an extra 1000 to that eye (killing Neros helps eat 400 of this transaction)
Other than these questions I think I've been able to pass checks for everything lore relevant, magic starting stats seem to be (credit to Serendipity on the ITS forums)

Going with the Merchants in Teron and then switching to Aruelian by fixing the outpost has given me buckets of skill points, and the only thing that felt wasted to enable the build was 10 put in etiquette. I've been saving frequently, so I could probably post more detailed stat progression if somebody wanted. Give it a shot if you want to see all the really crazy stuff this game has going on behind the scenes- it's a dramatically different playthrough from my Burglar-Thief one.
