Unfortunately, killing the boomasaurus and everything else nearby did not stop the enemy from firing a fucking rocket directly at our equipment stash. So that got blown up. This is what is left. God I hate these stupid fucking base missions. What was I supposed to do, go in with the bare minimum of equipment then just fucking leave when the map loads and I find out I brought the wrong weapons? I guess I should be happy the bombard shells didn't explode and kill us all.

Items of note: Mono claws (thats a diamond, half a hovertank right there!) 3 poisoned daggers (poison is a bitch to get, I'll have to build a hive to replace those probably) AC-Cry ammo (Can't be made or bought, only looted from the exterminator guys) Herder Staff (Rare drop from a very particular mission I haven't seen in like a year, incredibly powerful too) and various high level weapons and ammo that are expensive or difficult to make, like the fucking 6 force blades or all that XG shit or the Fatties.

Well, seems we won't need to repeat that ordeal, at least. Not sure what I'd do different if we did, the only other thing we could bring would be space suits, and while they'd take way less warp damage, they'd get annihilated by the miniguns or plasma.
There's one thing to note here, in that this mission is the only way I know of to get glitterdust, and if you move the storyline forward the mission eventually obsoletes itself. So you may want to build up a stockpile.

Guildmaster is also a good pickup.

New patch is out, along with a new ending, allegedly! I dunno if it's an actual endgame level, or a special mission which lets you keep playing after you're done. Still, it's surprising the mod would go that far.

Hopefully this is the last time I need to update the mod and clear out a million early game techs we already did. On the bright side, since it coincides with me having not played for 4 months, I was going to need to doublecheck a million things anyways, like what equipment we can make as apparently I got all our good shit incinerated in the last update. Whoops.

Well, at least I can do all the research at the same time I replace a bunch of our lost equipment. On the bright side, I made a list. On the other hand, I forgot how to make the parts to make the parts to make the parts to make the weapons. At least I remembered we need to kill a sectopod to get those fucking magischen motors. Which we need to make forceblades, apparently. Well, we can just loot those from the church. The other good news is we can just outright buy some decent shit at this point. Will probably end up using some new stuff because of that- I tend to favour things we crafted and researched individually, or looted, because it's got some sentimental attachment, you know? But realistically, a lot of the best stuff is just off the shelf, like the crazy guided rockets I used to clear out that canyon mission.

...Anyways, I know it's rather dull, but to avoid FUBARing the entire game right away, we'll start off slow with a milk run.

Yep, like shooting fish in a barrel. Thankfully, it all feels more familiar than I was expecting it to, didn't have any troubles with the UI at all, though I'm sure I'm still doing something dumb like using strafe instead of run at some moments or something.

Didn't bother snapshotting them all, but there's several new early game techs that seem to mostly be there as tutorials/tips. Presumably they smooth out some of the early game gear acquisition as well for you limp wristed pansies that don't enjoy using hunting bows and javelins against necro pirates with cannons and dynamite.

Another thing I've forgotten- our general goals and various hanging plot threads. Getting the next level of bounties seems like an obvious thing to do, but fuck if I know which dragons we have or haven't been noticed by.

A bit more dicking around and a notice of a full inventory at one base reminded me we're trying to build a giant spaceship as well. And I think amass like a billion dollaroos? There was witch stuff too, something with red mage and the shadow realms, the nazis having a moon base... and who knows which things are even finished plots. Ah well, I'm sure we'll find something fun to do.

My other big fear coming back is that I'm going to forget about some ship that is way off the power curve and get one of mine blown up. Fortunately the ones I targetted so far have been pushovers. IIRC this Nightmare in particular is an absolute beast with some incredible pilots and a rare shield accessory. It never seems to even get hit.

Shot down a bomber. I wasn't expecting a crash site honestly- I don't think we've had one before, and I often avoid the bombers because small chance of massive damage = bad idea generally speaking, but I looked at the numbers and it seemed safe, so here we are.

Man I forgot how tanky these fuckers are if you're not using the right weaponry, he shrugged the mjolnir off like nothing. Well, that's what Lightbane is here for, corrupting innocent human minds to our purposes. The gun is still listed as 'weird thingie' here so it seems this is about on par with our current tech envelope, as I'm pretty sure normal plasma weapons are unlocked for us now. Also, that was a giant nuclear charge in his belt. So, that was a closer call than I'd have liked. Bet the AI was planning to arm it and suicide rush him into the ship.

That's not flavour text. This thing fires warp damage rounds clear across the map, through smoke, beyond line of sight at full accuracy. Shame we need shadow orbs to make them.

It actually took down like half the guys in power armour, the warp damage bypasses red shields and does extra vs heavy armour. Slut managed to finish a mission against giant laser cannons without dying! Huzzah!

Oh, and we lost more fucking gear. Around turn ~4 or so, one of them threw a grenade through the elevator to the roof, at our troops he couldn't see but knew of because of that fucking spotter mechanic. Kaboom. At least we didn't have as much to lose this time. I'm tempted to switch back to the kraken as our troop ship. Losing the tanks and the ceiling hatch would suck, but at least it wasn't vulnerable to shit like this.

Finally some decent space suits we can mass produce. Or rather, simply buy. I hope they're decent anyways. I think we've seen rimrider neoks with flying suits, if they're on par with those we're golden.

Heh, finally a benefit for our path. Shame it's about 3 tech tiers too late to be relevant. Would have been pretty nice in the early game though, before we had the codex and 4 other medbay variants.

The free brainer from pharmacist can be gotten first week or something. It's a pretty serious early game boost.

Also, marsec is scary.

Results from 10 blackmail projects. Labour wise they're easy, and we got back the databases spent, but the 'zines are gone. 5 zines a pop... this isn't worth it unless you're in dire need of glamour, as zines are hard to come by, generally speaking.

Well, unless there's a way to make the obsidian chips out of nothing, this is the end of the line here. The gold level chip crack turned out to be slightly better than the plastic- about 25k per 260 hours instead of 20k. It gets a little fuzzy with the actual conversion when you sell chips and I can't be bothered for the rounding errors. The problem is, that requires golden chips to use, which are rare enough we'd run out real fast. Well, now we can convert one obsidian to 10 gold, so problem solved right? Well, two things. First of all, that requires obsidian chips, which are very rare and I'd rather hoard them in case some weird recipe pops up that uses them to make a cool sword or whatever. It also requires gold, but we can apparently just buy that. Note to self- buy more gold to turn into theban catgirls. Those are awesome.

Doing a bunch of random missions and craft shootdowns, nothing we haven't seen before. Ninjas seem like good targets right now, I think taking out their hideouts should be on the todo list, and some of their higher tier units might still have tech for us, like the skyforge engineers and their weird bribery mechanic.

Underwhelming for our purposes. I suppose if you had a whole squad of bombers dropping this shit all at once on a giant target it could be useful? But even then, surely the point of taking down such a craft is to salvage the remains, and I doubt this would leave any.

Catgirl power armour! The other variant is basically the same, but red and slightly tweaked stats, with better laser/plasma resistance but 10 less armour and instead of the nice health and throwing bonuses, gives a few extra TUs instead of costing them. I think the blitz armour is still better for sure, but if you wanted to make some really overpowered catgirls, I think using these suits to cross train them with heavier weaponry would go a long way. Plus, these work in space and cold weather.

MONEY! Having to replace lost equipment has made me realize just how much shit we can buy now, either directly or indirectly through buying components we previously needed to loot. Integrated circuits, for example, previously only came from academy troops. Well, now we can buy optronic parts and glue them together into the integrated thingies, which are used for making really nice weapons like the XG stuff and power armours and such.

Right now it feels like we're largely at the mercy of the RNG to give us some cool missions to progress various plot threads and unfinished tech chains. I can't visit the nazi moon bases if they don't show up. Ah well, we'll amass more cash and equipment for now. I should really do more base raids as well, at the very least I want to take down a church base to get the force circuits we need for shield tech and force blades. They should be a cakewalk with the xg weapons, which bypass their shields. Honestly it's mostly the mercs I fear at this point, those gauss tanks and invisible commandos are still a bit scary.

It really is 33% chance. I looked it up. Menace ships are a bit low tech compared to other things you have available at this point tbh. It's a shame we never saw it, the bonaventura has a cool layout. Way back you used to have it from day 0.

It looks exactly like you would expect a nazi ship called iron cross would look. As for salvage It only has some lore that doesn't go anywhere iirc. Humanists being a minor faction is such a ripoff tbh, considering they build their own plasma, and make their own ships.

Who knows ? It's just a you made a base not in a country, have a free research event. But I guess you had all the research already.

I suppose I'll actually make the damned thing now, and we can take a look at it. IIRC the main advantage of the thing is having a lot of STC slots, and those are not actually that useful at this point because the components to make those are insanely rare. But we got the room and the money.

I really ought to use Belle more often. This advanced minilauncher thing is insane, 108% accuracy at this distance, ammo variety, only 28 TU's per shot. I'm always worried about getting her killed because she's a high value veteran, but still just a normal human. That medic armour is fairly tanky though, despite lacking shields.

At any rate, we're bailing for now. We could certainly win, but it'd be dumb to get a bunch of our squishy units killed in the process, and there's no cover here to save the gnomes or catgirls from indiscriminate bullet spam. We'll come back with a heavily armoured squad instead next time.

Anyways, for people that don't want to check the last post on this mission, this is the basic layout. We spawn in the two southern corners of a big map littered with trees and pillboxes (the big blue dots.) At the north end is a giant wall, presumably with more guns on it.

Oh, and it's fucking winter, so we can't bring the catgirls in blitz armour to murderize everything. They'd freeze their tits off. And they've got amazing tits.

These things were my main concern last time, combined with the fact that I'd brought some squishy people along, like some gnomes and catgirls. Well, technically I brought catgirls this time too but they're in power armour. Everyone is in power armour. Or a tank. Or a giant loader suit. The point is, these pillboxes can't do shit to us now, so the fact we can't wipe them out on round 0 isn't a problem.

And oh man, I was trying to wipe them out on round zero. To be fair, it'd be possible with the right sort of explosives, but that gets awkward when you don't want to leave them laying on the ground. Which was the other big change this time- no extra gear. Everything we brought is on our bodies.

Did not expect her to get hurt, but she was floating up a bit and it must have given them LOS. Annoyingly, the shots hit the weak under armour once they got through the shields. We're fine though.

This mission turned out to be a great chance to train Lady Luck achievements (hit a target when chance to hit is smaller than the distance to them) on our minigunners. Which, honestly, is the main reason I have minigunners besides looking cool. We've got way better options now, but that achievement is a great one.

Despite way better weaponry and room to be more aggressive with the bio suits, we still take multiple turns on these bunkers. Things must have a ton of health. Vibro axe and thor's hammer do a good job on this side though. I'd give the hammer to slut if her throwing skill weren't such ass. Oasis is rocking it, but could be useful with guns as well.

As we approach, the guns have more and more trouble firing through the tree cover, while simultaneously clearing it out so we can return fire more easily. Good shit.

I really wish we had a flight suit for our Syn. Or more Syns. She's awesome in this battle though, casually shrugging off machineguns and cannon fire alike. I think she takes only 40% damage from explosives, before the armour is factored in. She used to have like 30 health so was still kinda vulnerable, but she's nearing 80 now with all the achievements. Basically unkillable.

This is going to suck. Francesca here has been at 0 freshness for basically the last half of the previous map, and plenty of other gals are entering single digits too. We've burned through a bunch of cigars as well. Going to need to properly shuffle around a lot of gear and supplies to fix that problem as best I can. at least looking at the pile of jewels can soothe my soul. Until an enemy drops a plasma charge on it when we start phase 3.
