Oh well, i softlocked on cap 3

Can't win the malice boss fight, i have no tanks and the eldar is even naked cuz the loot seems to be gone in the void.
Nice fucking balance and mechanics owlcat, AS USUAL.

This game gone from a 8/10 to a 5/10 very fast.
You can get your gear back, although it is no super obvious how. Also, I am impressed you maanged to get this far without a single tank. I started with one, then I got an off-tank. I still struggled at times, but I managed to get as far as late in Chapter 4.
I have tanks, but for that fight you only get 3 pg.
Retreat into little corridor where entrance is. You need to survive 2-3 rounds before help arrives. Use grenades and stimms you gathered until that point.
Yes that fight might be hardest in Act3 for first time players.
You should have Abelard in that fight if you brought him to Act 3, and give eldar chick a good burst weapon even if she usually uses snipers, she can still own enemies

I bite the bullet and used story mode, i feel SO DIRTY now.

Battle system is better than pathfinder (no 221313805315152135 buffs and shit to refresh) but is starting to sour me, is more of a stat check (or use broken ass builds) than actual strategy.

Anyway, this is the most perfect avatar to ever exist, i love it.

Base game is worth it imo. Rogue Trader has a lot of replayability and the story can change a lot if you play with a different conviction. So, if you like it you can just play it a second time with a different conviction, but this time going through the expansion.

If you still haven’t made a choice I’d say get the DLC. It’s integrated very nicely into the main game; I am doing my first run with it installed and for some characters it took me going through half the DLC’s content before even noticing they were not in the base game. Stuff also pops up sparsely enough so you can feel the plotline evolve at a very good pace.

As for my experience with the whole game I’m very much loving it. Maybe it’s because I’m dumb and created a psyker/officer/bounty hunter MC with zero points into ballistics (lol) but the difficulty has held up well and I think there’s enough variety in the encounters to justify them (maybe they should remove a few pink horrors idk). I also like the itemization being more horizontal than in many other games. Sometimes it’s overwhelming to get like 40 new goodies from traders but overall it’s fun to stop and update everybody’s gear once in a while.

Stars of Matrianus only accessible via ToyBox? It's one of the systems mentioned during Cassias's companion quest.

Kibellah's quest and character is basically ShadowHeart's arc and quest but grimdark.

Both got brainwashed by a cult, both lost their families to the cult , both Shadowheart and Kibellah aren't their real name , both can be made worse by the protagonist. Kibellah was actually groomed into the whole thing compared to Shadowheart that just get Magic Brainwash

And i know, not that of uncommon of a trope.

It should be mandatory to equip a Halo device when using this portrait.

I do not understand, challenging is super easy but in hard i have enemies oneshotting my full melee hendrix.

Had a autosave just in time for space marine, i love him.
Still commorragh was very subpar.

I pulled through.
Had to drop down from Hard to Daring tho. Long ways to go to challenge Unfair.

I didn't like my loser mentality here. It felt really out of character to write this and much so to read it afterwards.

So, what I did was reload my save at the end of Chapter III and re-do the entirety of Chapter IV up until the fight in the Machine Cathedral with Uralon. I really wanted to blast through this fight on Hard and not have to lower the difficulty. And so I did. And it was awesome.

Last time around it felt like the game was a few steps ahead of me. But this time, my hands were very tightly around its neck and I wasn't gonna let the kill elude me.

Overall I really liked the Machine Cathedral. It was filled with tough fights which needed proper strategies to be followed - skipping the summons and attacking the shaman, baiting the rockets to land on the pillars, picking out the other entrance for the last fight. The place also keeps you on your toes out of combat with high roll traps and warp fogs that both can easily injure you if you don't disarm or avoid them. Lots of exploring to do for cogitators too. Those I have yet to find out what they were about but I'm waiting for a strong payoff sometime soon.

It's been some time since I've played Wrath and I didn't really give KM a proper playthrough but I can't recall enjoying a dungeon made by Owlcat so much before. Mayhaps this is truly their best title yet.

It is. It was only worse at release, because it was the most early access of all their games, shit was broken af, like genuinely 70%+ abilities/talents were not working right and balance was a total mess. After they did some fixing and rebalanced some combat, it's already 100% above both Pathfinders in every aspect, and it will get even better with the next DLC and more patches. After they're finished with it, I think it will be one of the better games in the genre overall.

It could just be bad rng. If enemy gets a critical hit that is usually a lot of extra damage.

I'm actually having a blast playing through this so far. Act 2 is decent. The writing is as good as it gets for Owlcat and the characters (once you get rid of Idira and the she-eldar) are almost non-cringe.

Looking foward to Act 3 completely ruining this good impression.

Dunno, one of the most disappointing things about act III was that all the torture and shit that you go through, which is made out to be utterly massive and life changing actually never has any follow-up once you get out.

For example
IIRC Pasqal actually gets implanted with some shit or what not and is supposed to be deeply affected, but I dont recall that ever being mentioned later in the game, even though it could have made for interesting side quest.

Then again, the whole act really makes a great job at making the player feeling desperate and miserable, so that is some good world building there I suppose.

This is true for the vast majority of the game though. One of the biggest screw ups on Owlcat part.

I liked what Owlcat did with Abelard with him having years sucked out of him when first getting dragged to Commoragh. The gameplay debuff sitting there until you resolve the issue is a good addition, but the whole narrative closes smoothly with his companion quest ending up with him asking you for some time off for his family, during which he's also gonna take care of the von Valencius colonies.

Not only that but the seneschal sounded straight up miserable on Commoragh having being plagued by visions and audio hallucinations of his dead wife. In his case I could understand why he wouldn't want to talk about it.

But I concur that more could have been added to make Chapter III even more impactful on the rogue trader and his companions. Maybe some changes to the character model or some buff/debuff to remind you of your whole venture there.
