Wait, this has mosaics?

"You gotta blur the genitals in your raep game or else someone might get traumatized"

- Japanese rating board probably
Jap friend I knew said everyone thinks the mosaics are retarded but no politician wants to run a campaign or put forward a law saying 'I will uncensor porn'
You are wrong on both accounts.

Sure, it was second hand info from years ago. Whats the truth?

Mosaics aren't that bad. Most of the time the art underneath is poorly drawn anyway.

Like, why are his dick veins green?

It's poorly drawn because the expectation is that it will be censored anyway. It's a known phenomenon. I prefer it demosaiced even when the art is poor simply out of principle. If the VN is heavily centered around the story with the H-scenes as an afterthought I don't care either way because I'm not here for the sex scenes. I mostly skip through them anyway. But if it's a nukige I don't really see the point in reading one if it's heavily censored. I feel it beats the entire purpose. Sometimes the mosaics aren't that bad such in the case of the VN linked earlier, but sometimes it's like why even bother?

Mosaics are butt ugly. I don't understand why they can't use black or white lines in visual novels like they do in doujins, I find those much less intrusive. I guess it's some retarded law regarding audio-visuals or something.

There is one politician who has been campaigning for years against mosaics now. He is pretty known, even among gaijins...at least those who care about that kind of thing. If you look for it, the name should be easy to find. I also remember a second one being openly in favor of it in more recent times.
As for Japanese being for/against: I actually talked with some about the topic and the ones being in favor of it argued that it makes it more "ambiguous" and "exciting".

Or at the very least like it's in "Wind -a breath of heart-", with the dick being "see-through"

Here's mine (based on your screenshot):
Oh, so your crush got a boyfriend, and you were indirectly rejected? No way, is this a real-life syndrome of 'But I liked you first, didn't I'?

I'm quite sure the Chinese translation will be more faithful to the original Japanese text.
Maybe it's the job title/little pay/non-prestigious association that's attracting these kind of English (and I presumed American) game translators.

Is there a translation comparison between American & European translators for similar-in-tone-&-released-around-the-same-period Japanese games?

Are there any european translations that are not fan projects in the first place?

It runs really deep, but lack of oversight and quality control are a large part of why things are so bad with our English localizers.

It also doesn't help that Asian people (Japanese and Chinese included) tend to always take westerners at face value, ie. someone who might possess fluency in a foreign language might be deemed as an 'expert' or 'professional' without having been investigated as to the actual quality of their work.

I am reading this after having it in my backlog for a long time

Its pretty good so far, still havent finished it but the teenager female super soldier is making me physically cringe, especially since the rest of the fights are semi realistic. Going from the dudes struggling to fight the terrorists one on one, getting outrightly beaten by stronger dudes up or straight up running when they are outnumbered to this scrawny kid beating a dozen man at once and alone is meh.
