I'd prefer a format less bloated and pointless, but the idea is an interesting one.

Should you guys be unable to pare down the game's script without sacrificing quality, I would prefer just a .txt document with numbered entries to a .pdf honestly. People have all kinds of different resolutions so being able to re-size a notepad window next to the emulator window would be nicer in my opinion.

Especially since .txt is easy to convert to pretty much any other format.

In a lot of games, the kana & kanji used take 2 bytes, so you can put two latin characters for each japanese one. It's usually enough to allow for an accurate translation. Here, they used 1 bytes kanas... Which means half the space to work with.
This all means you have to fight for every single sentence so that they're not too long, even by a single byte. That sucks, that sucks so hard.

You can always release a PDF with all the proper translations and change the in-game text to 'read page xx.' :P

It's not worth it this time: The Screamer really isn't a storyfag game, as you'll soon see :smug:
But I'll keep that in mind for the next one, be it the Last Armageddon, Lunatic dawn or any other :obviously: game you'll vote for !

A PSP tactical RPG? Why not, but I can only work on one project at a time and I'll probably put the next one to the vote.
Nevertheless, this might change if I start a Codexian translation team ;-)

Codex 2013 Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire MCA Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
I'd say that, for now, you should stick to PC98 if it's so easy for you to hack your translation into these games. PC 98 doesn't have a lot of proper (and non-hentai) RPGs, right?

I mean, Phantasie IV, Lunatic Dawn 1&2 and Last Armageddon are the main ones - but then there are also:

Rogue Alliance (again by the same company): http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G2963.html
TO-KY-O (looks fucking great, reminds me of 2400 A.D. - and again by StarCraft Inc.): http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G3650.html
Illusion City: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G1595.html
Insiders 2: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G1619.html

And that's pretty much it. See, not so many ;)

On a more serious note, if you translate even if a couple of these it'd be awesomely awesome. I think you should prioritize simpler games - Phantasie IV or Last Armageddon or anything by StarCraft would be the logical next projects to tackle, imho. Just look at this: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G2640.html !!

Also, man, look at this PC98 version of Star Command: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G3296.html It looks so much better than the DOS version!

Or this version of the Magic Candle: http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/screen/G3591.html

Good god!

Well I'd also like some as of yet untranslated C's Ware games to be translated, but those are going to have too much text for one person.

If you're taking translation requests, I thought this PC98 H-JRPG was pretty cool for its time and it had a "tactical" battle system and surprisingly high production values for its time but it's probably kind of stereotypical today because the main dude isn't the green platemail armor wearing guy that everybody wants.

Don't worry, it's not a hentai "adventure" game, so nobody cares which game it is.

Thanks, bee dearest, for this site is quite the goldmine ! Darn it, there really is a TON of games I'd love to work on

It got ported on the PC98 3 years after the original release, yeah, but still !

On a related note, expect an update on the Screamer before the end of the week

This.... TONS of this... you sure this game isn't supposed to be played waaaaaaay slower, Helly?

Honestly I don't really know the correct speed to use. I usually put Max: 500 in the config, but I guess you can try to add more speed! Tell me if it feels easier to play :P
Edit: It should be "the beast city still waits". Will correct.

Demo of 'Code Hazard', the first Generation XTH game (japanese Wizardry clone for the PC) is out now:
http://kudomuramasa.foramu.net/t26-code-hazard-demo-out-download-link-inside

Full version is expected in a few months, but the demo is a nice way to check out how the game works and whether you like it or not.

Is there somewhere I could submit translation feedback? I've spotted several little things so far though I've no idea if it's of any interest to you at this stage.

There's the translation's forum: http://kudomuramasa.foramu.net/

ANd is probably best to warn it beforehand, but "Esvice" is not a typo.

Haven't seen any typos so far - it's basically repeated stylistic errors like using "But..." and "And..." to begin sentences, mixing up "those" and "these", "that" and "who" and so on. Not a big deal as I'd rather live with these and see the whole thing finished earlier. :salute:

Creating a party right now.

First impression: for some stupid reason I assumed "subdisk" means party stash, so when I deposited all the pre-made party's items there to transfer to my newly made party (new recruits start with no items and only 100g which is just enough to buy 1 dagger) I couldn't find these items again. Time to start a new game.

Yea, subdisk is more like a global inventory for the party, while the party stash is the databank. The databank is only accessible in the dev lab, iirc -- I make sure to dump all crafting materials and "can't use yet, but awesome" items there after a dungeon run. Also, the databank has quite a bit of starter armor/weapons so you should be fine even if you 'screw up' like this.

Of course, my Wiz experience drove me to use the standard "steal everything from the premade party" trick: sell all items from the premade party (there's plenty of starter gear in the databank), pool their cash to the first character, drop all but the first character from the group, add in my first character, pool the cash to him, then remove the remaining premade character and finally add the rest of my own characters.

So... is there a way of retrieving items from a subdisk?
