I was browsing some mods for Fallout and came across a Reddit thread where one of the guys who ended up working for the new Age of Empires 1-2-3 remasters said that the AoE thing was one attempt from them to get their foot in the door of several companies. One of the others was Bethesda, they asked them if they could work in the old Fallout games. They were told that no, they weren't looking to launch a remaster back then or in the future. For all it's worth, Bethesda just added a launcher, and you have the og games' files on your download.

Another gem to be paired with the one I've already posted in the Best Thread Ever.

Todd Howard says Bethesda’s games are ‘irresponsibly large’, explains why

https://www.videogameschronicle.com...s-games-are-irresponsibly-large-explains-why/
“And obviously, [there’s] all of the writing and the quest design and the level designer, and there’s so many parts to our games that I’m in a really unique position to work with so many amazing people and bring all of that together.”

Smirking, he then added: “Actually, we cut very little from our games at Bethesda, which is why the games are so irresponsibly large.”

Only thing Todd likes to cut are features he deems "unnecessary"...
This obviously lead to more and more streamlining and less oldschool RPG elements.
