They are back in talks with Publishers. Can't believe it, but they at least have more fighting spirit then weak sperms (no longer) working on Realms Beyond

IDK what this is, but they're sure trying to convince us it's not vaporware.

The Wayward Realms - A Lullaby - Trailer

A lullaby? A prophecy? A warning? Your journey through the The Wayward Realms will not only take you across a vast and varied landscape, but below it as well. This is just a small tease of the dangers you will face in the deepest and darkest places on the Archipelago, where, not only fortune, but forgotten knowledge awaits to be discovered. Can you solve the mysteries of this lullaby? One thing is certain, those who are lulled to sleep by these harrowing words, never slumber with both eyes closed. Hush your candy-striped lips, for night time comes, The soft beat of starlings echo like distant drums. Breathe more still, close your empty, heavy eyes, Even the stars above are but half-remembered lies. Sleep fool child, and while you sleep, waken, And see the world that has been taken. Once swamps return to goblin ken, Once seven return to ten, When Sidh’s towers and stores, Stone tremble to Sarkanic roars, When the spirit blooms in Tyre, When Daelle bathes in fire, All truth and knowledge known unlearn, Once lost and wayward dreams return.

Special thanks to Steve Stanley for providing the narration. Special thanks to Ramon Molesworth for sound editing and additional music. Lullaby written by Ted Peterson Music by Eric Heberling The Wayward Realms is the upcoming, open-world, Grand RPG by OnceLost Games. Led by Ted Peterson and Julian LeFay, OnceLost Games is restoring scope, choice and consequence to the RPG genre.

I absolutely love the concept of pushing the Daggerfall idea (game as DM) further, but the art, while ofc competent, seems a bit dull and uninspiring. I mean, I'm not asking for giant spikey shoulderpads, but I'd like to see a bit more pizzazz.

So do I, but somehow I doubt they will be able to cobble together a functioning game, much less something equal to Daggerfall, nevermind actually going further with the idea.

Wait what? If the art is in-game like in the trailer then it looks breathtakingly good and I want it.

Why so sceptical? Isn't it the original guys who did Daggerfall? They should know pretty well what made it tick, so they should have an idea of how to surpass it surely?

It's been like ~30 years, and a lot of these olddev projects that promise the world seem to fall flat. See: Underworld Ascendant.

Might not be the same case here, but skepticism is and should be the norm. Personally, I'm somewhat optimistic.

Because of this. Mostly.

Yeesh, that doesn't look too good. But it sounds the guy's right, they need a good manager, someone who's as enthusiastic about the project as the author is. If they had someone like that, they might yet make the game.

But I'm probably being fabulously optimistic :)

Well, one difference in this case seems to be that unlike other "olddevs" Julian LeFay, who is basically responsible for Daggerfall's unique aspects, didn't spent his professional years between Daggerfall and today getting burned out making AAA games, so he may still have ideas to push (after all IIRC despite Morrowind's success he wasn't fan of the hand-made approach it took, meaning that he had other ideas he never ended up implementing).

I don't have any more info here, but I was of the understanding from what I was told that their reputation was thoroughly destroyed from both M$ and Paradox rejecting them. Could be a smaller publisher rushed in. But them sitting on their arses waiting for a publisher instead of actually having something solid to show does not bode well.

I like the nepotism honesty. We all know how such things go. At least these guys just show it. That's transparency.

Meet the dev: the Daughter of the Elder Scrolls! AKA Shae, Julian's daughter. Her enthusiasm for the project was such that the Dev team decided to give her an outlet and stop bothering them. As part of the team, she will be assistant community manager, sharing duties with Victor.
