The Steam pre-load is supposed to start tomorrow. Only 5.5 Gb.

I pre-ordered a copy from GAME. I had to spend those reward points in case the company went bust, and I ended up getting the game half price: think I only spent about £15 in total. The price on Steam is a fucking rip-off, £39.99?

Notice how the best scores are from Germany and Poland, while the worst are French and mainstream "European" sites.

Yup, business as usual. You either "get" PB games or you don't. Nothing wrong with either approach of course, but it tends to create huge fluctuations in review scores.

Judging from the stream , my computer probably won't be able to handle this game very good. It looks very graphic intense.
I think I would pass on it either way as I haven't enjoyed any PB game other than Gothic and Gothic 2 really.
The pre-order DLC is also a set back.

I always thought it was a clunky mess. But it never bothered me that much as I favor bows anyway.

Ironic since if any part of the G1/G2 combat was shit it was the auto aiming/targeting bows which took no effort to kill enemies with. Not counting G3 since all combat there was atrocious.

Yes I found that combat also lacking to say the least. Also this was ten years ago and G2 blew me away with the persistent world and npc routines and the game world oozing character... combat mechanics; not so much. Actualy it sounds like a replay is in order.. I remember there also being an expansion to g2 but at the time it was only available in german. Any thoughts on which version to get ?

Risen 2 tanking gives as some chance that they will not find publisher, and that they will carter to old fans on kicstarter, Risen 2 being succesful = more dumbing down.

I don't give a fuck if Risen 2 tanks and PB goes bankrupt. That's what you should get for dumbing down your games.

I agree, make shit games and burn in hell. Is Risen 2 dumbed down? That's the question, I haven't played it yet and fully intend to. The only game that they made that I'm not a big fan of is G3, I just find it boring after awhile, sort of like Oblivion. I actually liked Risen despite it's faults.

I was willing to pre-order this the other day but the DLC stuff has me all confused. I'm not sure how to get the full game all at once, the deepsilver.com sites link to buy it online doesn't work and the steam site doesn't tell me if I get the 'extra' island. Too bad dipshit publishers didn't just sell you the full damn game, all at once, when you, you know, buy it.

Get G2 with the Night of the Raven expansion installed: shitload more content, harder supposedly(though I didn't find it all that difficult apart from some of the optional enemies, some fixes...can't go wrong.

I don't often agree with this trollbot, but he's right on the money here: Risen 2 is a bit like Arcania 1.5 and this DLC shit cutting out entire areas is just fucked.

Indeed. I think that shitting on their loyal core group in favor of attracting more consoletards will deservedly backfire. It seems to already be happening what with the shitty scores around the place. This is what I don't understand: Gothic/Risen was always appealing to a smaller hardcore segment in the first place. Rather than trying to appeal to everyone PB should have stuck with what they did best. They might not get millions of sales, but they'd have a good, steady income. Instead they are choosing the retard path of dumbing down and DLC, and that shit only works for true AAA(in finance and marketing, if not talent) devs like Bioware/Bethesda. The game is not retarded or slick enough for the consoletards and not 'Gothic' enough for the old fans, so who's it for?

That's disappointing, it's really as bad as Arcania?

Nooo...nothing that bad, I probably should have put Arcania prerelease candidate or something, back when the game still had an ounce of potential. Playing the demo I certainly got a weird deja vu of Arcania, even though it's nowhere near as retarded. Somewhere between Risen and Arcania it seems to sit at the start and only by going through a bit will one be really able to make a definitive statement as to how much of a decline(and it IS a decline from Risen) it actually is. The first few hours seem to point it being closer to Arcania and I really hope that isn't the case later.

I may be a Gothic fan but I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to such games and as long as it's only a bit retarded I'm sure to enjoy it(shit, I'm a Two Worlds fan as well), so don't worry that much. If you can take a bit of shit with your ice cream it will be fine.

Depressing as that sounds, I'm willing to gamble on PB because I love their games and there isn't anything worth buying these days in my mind.

I have a beer in one hand and a credit card in the other. I'd love to buy it now and play on Friday but I can't figure out how to purchase the whole game. This is what I've found out:

http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/ca/en/pc/games/rpgs/risen-2-dark-waters/

Prepurchase Risen 2: Dark Waters and receive a voucher code to redeem against Risen 2: Treasure Isle DLC for 100% off! You will receive the voucher via email and must use it within 30 days or it will expire.

I gave these guys my email a year ago and got Men at War and was supposed to get Stalker for free. Then they sent an email telling me I'd get a code to unlock it in a couple of days because they ran out of 'codes'. Then a week later they sent an email saying that they ran out of 'codes' and I'm fucked. Scam for emails?

Regardless, it sounds like if I buy the game, I can give them my email (after they have my credit card number), then they'll give me the rest of the game within 30 days???

http://store.steampowered.com/app/40390/

Steam mentions nothing about the extra island. No deal there? Only part of the game for fifty bucks?

This is the link that deepsilver.com (the publisher) directs me to.

http://www.risen2-shop.com/

As of the last few hours, it doesn't work in either Opera, Firefox or Safari browsers. No idea what their deal is. I was hoping their site would explain how to get the full game.

You can also go to the home page:

http://www.risen2.com/us/dark-waters/

Then click on 'Digital Version' and guess where it takes you? www.risen2-shop.com It still doesn't work either.

Is this a scam to keep sales down so they don't have to pay the developers? I don't get it.

amazon.com has it for five bucks cheaper, plus:

Pre-order "Risen 2" PC Download and Get "Treasure Island DLC Pack"
Pre-order the digital download version of "Risen 2" and get the "Treasure Island DLC Pack" for free. Embark on a brand new adventure in pursuit of the legendary treasure of Captain Steelbeard. Join Captain Steelbeard's daughter, Patty, on a journey to an unknown island that offers new environments to explore and many puzzles to solve, treasures to loot and mysteries to unravel. An all-new exclusive legendary item awaits those who have the courage to undertake this quest. Pre-order bonus content will be delivered to Your Games & Software Library once the game releases. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time.

Of course I can't get it in Canada. For fucks sakes.

Well, back to the tried and true this weekend. Had enough fucking around trying to *buy* a game off of someone. I really don't mind giving them my money either, one of the few that deserve it.

Maybe because I'm not from the Kwa, not sure. I searched on that exact link for: "treasure" "Isle" and "free". They don't show up. Here's a screenshot of what I see, maybe it's regional.

If I recall correctly, it made some of the early combat harder (imagine that happening these days) and also pumped up the late-game bosses quite a bit, as they were way too easy before. They also made it take a few more skill points to level stats and weapon skills.

I'm not in the 'kwa either, but we get the pre order DLC (Finland). Curious. Seems like your country is getting anally raped by Steam. What country do you reside it?

Well, fuck. What's easier, setting up a proxy to pretend I'm from potatoland or just torrenting it and buying it later when it's on sale?

EDIT: I reside 'it' the country I mentioned in the post above. Are any of you able to access this site: www.risen2-shop.com ?

Normally I wouldn't give a shit but PB is one of the *very* few developers that make games that I like and I want to give them cash. I just don't want to get half the damn game that everyone else is getting. I don't care about the 5% 'Pirate Clothes' that you can get for a buck, I want the Island that they cut out of the game. What kind of dick head move is that?

I'd be wary when attempting to cheat Steam. Valve won't think twice about banning your steam account.
