It's Summertime, so let's go out for a walk in the nature! Here are the newest screenshots from The Quest's sequel, featuring dark forests, shiny-sunny fields and snowy places.
Next time we'll travel into the Dark.

Real time combat can be good:

I am more concerned with the execution, how boring it is to talk to 1000 NPCs in these gay little towns, and whether most enemies will die to a single fireball, or whatever. Because those ^ classic RPGs had pretty good balance, combat, locations, items, etc.

I've always hated that FB miss. It was so strangely disheartening, and it felt like the game wants to cheat every now and then. It happened rarely, fortunately.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Sorry for the long pause. In 2022 we had an editor and we could build the full world of The Quest II. But that world was "empty", only graphics without any signs of life. In 2023 we developed a real, runnable game based on that editor. It took many months but at last we have a real world with NPCs, dialogues and more. We just finished putting in the whole main storyline with all NPCs, dialogues and scripts. Now we must translate it to English, also we need to make all sidequests and other graphic features so you can see some improvements from last year's screenshots. We are working on it, don't worry, but the game is huge and we are only two guys. We'll post new screenshots as soon as possible. Until that, have a Happy New 2024 which hopefully will bring you the first real beta testings of TQII!

I hope they meant pits, levers, puzzles, secrets, etc. by that too. I have not seen a single mention of it. I will stay hopeful.
Quest 1 was a shining-from-above level of good, as far as the almost non-existent classical dungeon crawler scene on Android / Apple goes.

Lol… Lordy another one.

“So, I bought a game and well…. It plays old and I don’t like how it does things. Maybe if it was more like ……”

I don’t see him playing much of this. He probably won’t play TQ2 when it comes out.

That hand-drawn fake-3d graphics are so beautiful. The only thing that would make Quest better is a party instead of single character.
You really should have been more careful when making a wish on that monkey paw because The Quest 2 is a blobber, a real time blobber. Redshift obviously realized The Quest fans would probably feel betrayed by this abrupt change and have now given it the working title Betrayed instead of The Quest 2: http://www.redshift.hu/indexF.asp?body=/betrayed.html

So a EoB-like? Still better than a single character.

A party would be nice if they can make the combat decent. I completed it on Android but mostly due to not many options. I thought it was ok but the combat is so easy and unbalanced it kind of ruined it.

Actually EOB-like are the worst. The dancing as "tactic" in those games is retarded enough on its own. When you do it with 4+ characters it becomes something on another level. Same with avoiding traps and some puzzles. Abstraction can only go so far. I'm not an immersionfag but this does it to me - destroys it. Not to mention all the fast clicking you need to do. EOB(2) itself was nice but NOT because of the (retarded) mechanics but because of nicely designed levels and exploration. Also graphics back in the day - they aged nicely too. Single character > party based in such games. And I don't like much single character CRPGs as a rule.
