Codex Year of the Donut
Ayio, lesbophobes, I started the game on Supernova because I'm a big boy and I'm wondering if there's a way (item, skill, etc) to resurrect companions, or if they're just dead once they get downed. I'm fine either way, just want to know if I need to put them on pure ranged combat to stop the AI from facetanking shit.
dead for good, and I'd recommend avoiding supernova if you want them to stay alive. Enemies can do a lot of damage in a short timespan.

on the back of a T34.
so i played a bit of the tutorial on supernova and here are some random notes

- enemy ai is bonkers, you can get pretty close to them and they will not notice you (not sneaking).every marauder though is a sniper, capable of hitting you with a pistol 300 m away.
- 5 mins in and i already have a pistol/shotgun/sniper rifle/assault rifle and 2-3 different melee weapons.also a crap load of food plus ammo (unfortunately the game doesnt use the detailed ammo system of new vegas just "light-medium-heavy" ammo ie pistols use the same ammo with shotguns).
- lot of skill checks during dialogue but dont seem to change anything, seem more like flavour( you can lie to the corporate police officer about the ship but if you cant lie she will still let you go lel lol).
- npc models are detailed but still look dated, rest of the game looks like a hd texture mod of new vegas.
- the tutorial section is just your run of the mill "go there shoot 10 mobs grats you won a lvl",a downgrade if someone compares it with the opening section of new vegas which was made 10 YEARS AGO.
-gunplay seems more "organic" like you would expect from a fps, definitely an upgrade from new vegas (if you like hearing bullets whizzing past you and your weapon wobbling in your hand that is).
- ranged enemies mobs in combat seem to use cover alot, most of the time they run behind some rocks poping on and off to shoot.havent notice any advanced team tactics though ie they dont try to surround you etc.
doesnt matter though because you can pretty much roflstomp them, cleared the first marauder camp near the ship with the pistol.1 marauder had a hanting rifle and another an assault one.
- perks are like really really generic,as if they deliberately were trying to make the most banal/boring ones, everything is +% to some stat and thats about it.

you can also set them to passive which only attack when you command them, or 'defensive' which has them attack others only after you've already sent them into combat (passive they will stop after the person you told them to attack is down, defensive they will keep fighting)

for supernova take it off aggressive for sure

Guys, remember this is a low budget AA game. It's not going to be New Vegas and probably overall won't be as robust. Judge the game based on those facts.

That's impossible, I refuse to believe Tim and Leonard would direct a low-effort Fallout clone. I have absolutely not admitted the possibility of this scenario unfolding.

The fanboys were right, this is RPGOTY!

Most of the tutorial area checks are just to teach players how dialogue gonna looks like moving foward. On town there's a quite few checks that actually affects conversations.

If this game was made by a eastern european developer the people shitting on it would be praising it
If this game had been made by an Eastern European developer, then it wouldn't have been made by Tim & Leonard. As a consequence it wouldn't be loaded with the same expectations. But speaking for myself: I probably wouldn't haven even paid attention to it, much less point out obvious design flaws inherited from > 10 years old games.

Yeah, just noticed that ranged + aggressive doesn't work at all on Supernova.

Hmm, I'll keep trying for a while, but I'm probably gonna have to turn down to hard. Don't really wanna be bothered with replaying long sections just to keep my companions alive.

I'm not the biggest fan of FNV, but reading the comments and the fact that TOW is not on gog/steam made me think that maybe it's time for a replay? Ah, what the hell, maybe I'll even use the fabled sawyermod.

It was pretty much the deal breaker of Supernova for me, had zero interest in babysitting NPCs.

I think I'm going to restart on a harder difficulty with a combat focused character because there seems to be a lot of unavoidable combat in the game + the non-combat gameplay loop doesn't interest me enough.

Mouse aiming is all over the place, and the HUD is frustratingly clunky to navigate with M&KB. Not only that but the gameplay is literally lifted from new vegas.
TimCain If you're gonna make PC controls this terrible at least have the decency to make sure the gameplay is worth suffering through.

Uninstalled this shit port.

I am not sure it would help, because I think all difficulties are pretty easy.

:D:D

Played now for about 3,5 hours, on hard. Ammo does not seem scarce at all. I have about 800 light ammo, 300 heavy ammo and 600 energy. Maybe it will change later, maybe not. Combat turned quite easy when I got myself a hunting rifle. I guess I'm about to leave the starting area soon.
